Flatbush Cats

4 жыл бұрын

Every cat colony begins with one adult female. After trapping Mila, we realized she was lactating (still nursing kittens - Sonny, Sal and Giorgio!), and so we had to release her back out after being spayed so she could care for them. And after making sure every cat at this colony was spayed or neutered, we were able to come back for her and all of her kittens. Collaboration is key in animal rescue - thanks to PS9 Pets for helping to find Mila a home! / ps9pets

I really felt that too!! Usually when I see cats on the street, they only approach me because I've coaxed them, but one day I was shopping for plants at Home Depot, and I hear a strained meow and look down to see a stray cat looking right up at me. I didn't even notice her approaching me! She didn't leave me the entire time I was walking around the outdoor/patio area for the plants, so I scooped her up and took her home! That was a little over a year ago, and she's been obsessed with me ever since XD She ended up being very elderly with several health issues, so she was an expensive addition to the family, but I'm happy I can give her a comfortable retirement home ^_^

You've encouraged me. There's a ginger tabby in our neighborhood who often comes by. He appears to be a senior cat and was skeptical of me at first, but quickly warmed to my petting him. In fact, as soon as he recognized me as friendly, petting him made him even happier than when I fed him. He has obvious skin conditions with large patches of hairless scabby skin. He has puffy cheeks in an unnatural way. He looks like he's in pain, and meows constantly. We already have two cats, and my wife has said we absolutely can't have another. That said, your message about a cat waiting for you has made me think that maybe I'm the one who's supposed to save him. Next time I see him, I'm going to capture him, bring him to the vet and pay for his treatments, then find a house for him (if my wife still refuses to keep him after a few weeks at our place :P). Thanks for this video and for what you do for the cats in your area, you're a saint.

This is how we got our 5th cat: A stray that hung around the house all summer. Fortunately, he was healthy except for fleas and ticks. We felt the only way we'd be sure he got a good home was for us to keep him. So here he is.

Started crying when you said "you might be the person they were waiting for". For 5 months I had the honour and pleasure of taking care and sharing the company of a stray cat who lived outside my new apartment. When we met he climbed into my lap and purred, like he already knew me. I slowly broke down, bought him food and treats as much as I could, let him inside, gave him medications, brushed him... Fell in love with that boy. Turned out he was sick, and he died just 5 months after he came into my life. I'm so glad I could make his last months better, though. Warm and safe and fed and loved. Every cat deserves it. Thank you for all your work.

None of the cats in our area wait around to be rescued. They just come in through the pet door and line up for breakfast, along with everybody else. Then they find a nice comfy spot and snooze until we haul them off to the vet for their chips, check ups and shots. What are ya gonna do? Say no? Not in our vocabulary, as I fill out the paperwork for a second mortgage. Haha!

Leo, a large light orange tabby, was wandering around the food one day, 2 yrs ago. He was friendly and let us pet him and seemed to want in the house. We already have 2 senior males, 1 of whom didn't like the idea of him moving in. Now he's been accepted and we're so happy he's with us. He's not aggressive AT ALL, and is learning to travel by RV. Thanks for another great video!

We found a darling little kitten (about 7-8 weeks old) and she ran to us meowing so….. we took her in and within a few hours she had a home, across the street from us☺️🙏🏻💕 We wanted to keep her. Our Kevin wasn’t at all okay with her though and we decided Kevin has had enough stuff going on this year. We adopted him from our old landlord and we moved across the country with him after buying a home. Big move for Kevin! He was amazing as a traveler and strutted around each hotel we stopped and stayed at along the way. Not scared at all. He’s also a strictly indoor cat which was a massive change for him because he was allowed out during the day up until we moved. I disagree with letting cats outside, but his previous guardian allowed it so we did…. Until we moved. We do have a harness and he gets some outdoor time each day while very supervised. There are quite a few large birds of prey and everyone told us that they would definitely grab him if he were allowed out on his own. He’s adapting incredibly well! With all that we relinquished the baby we found (she found us actually lol). Maybe in the future we will adopt a furry feline brother or sister.

I totally agree, cats just don't belong on the streets. I can never understand those who think it 'cruel' not to let them outside, when allowing them outside raises their chance of being killed or catching some nasty disease (not to mention fleas). If you keep a cat inside from the start, they never miss the outside at all - just be sure to lavish attention and play and that cat will be happy happy happy.

This is how we found our calico, Caramel. One day after us feeding her and petting her, she walked right in in our house like she owned the place.
