My husband and I have all our old pets that passed away cremated and in containers in our living room bay window with our plants. When I go to water the plants I'll talk to them (Neo, our German Shepherd that passed last year, Peanut, my husband's Great Dane that passed right after we met, and Shadow, my cat that passed a few yrs ago).

Oh Carrie, I'm happy that you are feeling some peace after losing Layla.. It's hard losing a beloved pet. I'm pretty new to your channel and have been binging your vlogs and your main channel and every time I see Layla, I feel sadness. But then I think how cool that you have recorded memories of her and can go back anytime you want to watch her. I hope she is in doggy heaven running around like when she was a pup.. Take care Carrie!! P.S. The fried cheese pickles looked kind of good. I like regular fried pickles and with fried cheese, double yummy..

Carrie, you are an awesome person, and I encourage you to take all the time you need to heal. Grief takes time, according to the research more than 2 years. It's ok to have good days and bad days. I lost my companion 2 years ago, and I still cry, and if I see a dog that loos like her, I will burst out in 😢. Time will help you heal ❤

When I lost my cat I’d had for 14 years I bought a necklace on Etsy - you send a pic in and they etch it on a little charm. I felt silly doing it but that dang necklace brought me so much comfort and peace when I needed it. So happy to see you did the same for yourself (and your friend - that is too sweet you both did it!).

Raleigh is great! I moved here by myself 7 years ago and didn’t know a soul for work. You get the downtown feel of being a capital, but the charm of still being small scale of the towns that surround the area. It’s a huge foodie town and there’s lots of outdoor things to do. The airport goes to lots of different places, plus you’re two hours from the beach and 3.5 hours from the mountains. Not to mention you’re in train/driving distance to a lot of the east coast. I would say it’s definitely worth a visit!

Oh what a life she had!! You were the BEST dog mama and did what you could to make sure she was comfortable until the very end. It might help you to take her food, treats, blankets and whatever to your local animal shelter, if they will take them. I wanted to comment on the last vid, but I was too busy crying. Sorry for your loss Carrie.

Alternative to the fried cheese pickles: Use a wonton/eggroll wrapper, put some cheese on it (I like havarti), and then a pickle spear. Wrap it up like an eggroll (use water/egg wash to seal the corners) and fry it in the air fryer (I forgot what temp but maybe like 350-400?) until cooked. They're so good!!!

The first week is the hardest. Then getting their ashes back, if that's what you chose. It's 8 months since I lost my greyhound, four years since my horse and five since my old man lurcher. I still cry. Not every day but every now and then it'll hit me. The dogs I do have will do something or my young horse will and it takes me right back. Grief isn't linear, every day comes as it comes and some days are better than others. You're not alone Carrie and your grief will be different to many. Xx

Glad to see you feeling better. We've had a rough year with our pets - our dog started having seizures (we now know it's epilepsy) and we had to put our two cats to sleep within a month of each other. The house feels so, so different without them around - each time my husband and I would start to feel better, there'd be a part of our previous routine that we'd start to do and it would remind us they were gone. It sucks to hear it, but it just takes time. Keep hanging in there.

This may be a weird and random thing to compliment, but I just wanted to say I love that you use jazz as your background music. Hi Carrie, I don’t comment on your videos I usually just watch silently but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you being vulnerable during this time. I have a 17 year old cat who I’ve had since I was 9 and everyday I think about how she is going to be gone soon. I know it’s a normal part of life and pets can’t live forever and I know it hasn’t been easy for you but it’s comforting to know that there is a light after the mourning. ❤

With my family we used to always joke that we would find hair from our dog even when he will have been gone for years cause his hair just got everywhere and he had super long white hair. It has been years by now and the other day we found one of his hairs and we all gathered around that hair we had just found and started sobbing and telling all the silly stories about things that had happened with him or that he did. After a while it really starts to get bitter sweet.

Ive been growing plants for quite a few years and the one thing I've learned is that plants will adjust to their environment. so don't feel super limited to what you can buy just cuz if the shade hours etc. You can also hang your plants so that they can pick up indirect sunlight as well. My patio faces north east, which sucks but the morning sunlight will filter in and that is normally enough for my plants. And I will constantly move plants around to find the perfect spot cuz plants will show whether they like that spot through their growth.

For your herb garden: I think Basil needs more space, what you bought are actually several little plants that need to be seperated (basically stores mush them together cause it looks prettier to sell it better) but Basil actually needs a lot of space plus it is excellent to have near your tomatoes cause it is a great pest repellent since it smells so strongly! I hope those tips can help you a bit on your herb / vege journey :3

I’m still not completely over the loss of my girl Annie. It’s been a little over 8 months, but somehow something comes up and just sends me back into sadness. We still have her “brother”, Angus, and just when I thought I’d be better, I’d be walking him and someone in the neighborhood would ask “where’s Annie?” 😢 it was all I could do each time not to cry. Like you, the routine was hard to break. I sometimes still catch myself getting treats for two, and realizing she’s not here anymore. I’m anxious for Christmas because my husband had to take down our decorations (usually my thing) because I was in such a depression. Like someone else said, you have to find some peace knowing you gave her a great life. It’s just hard realizing they’re only here for part of our lives but we’re their whole lives.
