A bit of positive reinforcement here. Tom, way to slow down and present those bottles, allowing us to read the embossing! Jake, good job on focusing in on said bottles and, as ever, it is always a pleasure to read the backstories and view the advertisements. You guys contribute to mature in your video productions. Thank you.

A lot of bottles in the old days were made of really good, thick glass because they had to be shipped all over the country, and shipping in the old days was not a gentle journey.

What are you doing with all these bottles, donating to their town museums? Selling them at the antique sales? Your personal collection? I’m amazed at so many bottles. I love the dishes, and pottery’s, and other odd findings. And all in one place. You sure have the knack for finding just where to dig though. Your interests are wide and up my alley. Great work!

Hi really enjoy your channel. The Doll you found is a Frozen Charlotte doll I believe. They were very popular and arms and legs are ridged. The story is Charlotte was going to a dance and her mother told her to put a wrap/ blanket on in the sleigh. Charlotte refused to cover up her pretty dress and by the time they got to the dance she was frozen. Mothers gave the dolls to their children as a reminder to always listen to your mother. The dolls were made in Germany. And were very popular from about early 1800’s to 1920’s happy hunting.

an older lady friend of mine was an osteopath and trusted in a lot of homeopathic remedies. (she was born in the 1900s).. one time one of my boys had a stomach virus; she recommended grape juice-- from that time on I kept grape juice on hand, cuz it did work well. it probably helped soothe travelers' tummies. thanks for this extended version.. it's much appreciated! my dad drank hamm's beer, out of cans with the bear on it!

I really like watching your program, particularly the way you consult maps of the properties and lay out sheeting for the soil that’s excavated. Is it possible for you to do a video on your favourite or unusual finds once they are cleaned up.I’m betting your display cabinets etc are a really well organised. The other thing I’m curious about is whether there is a health risk to you digging up vintage latrine pits ??

I think you missed a big one there with that Root Glass bottle. Chapman Root operated a bottle operation in Terre Haute Indiana starting in 1901. A few years later they made the first 'Coke' bottle and held the patent on the Coca Cola bottle in 1916 making them well known. Sometimes they marked their products as R. G. CO.

Mrs. Stewarts Bluing had some great advertising. My favorites were the parody postage stamps. Look some of them up, they'd be great graphics for you. My favorite is the one that has the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho hung on a line like laundry. It made fun of the 1939 US postage stamp that commemorated the 59th anniversary of those states.

Since you enjoy the idiosyncrasies of bottle usages: Some of the finest -- and valuable -- fruit jars I've ever found were saved for posterity by their extemporaneous usage as ... paint containers, meant to hold access paint for touch ups. They were carefully shelved and, when never called upon, were tossed out ... basically in mint condition, though caked within. It can take some doing to de-paint the jars but the mint glass results are worth the required effort.
