Housing prices in Cuenca sure have gone up. I used to follow a family who moved there from the US and they were able to find a 3 bedroom house for $2something a month. The husband was good at getting a deal. It came unfurnished but they made their own furniture and did pretty good. I hope you two find something that feels right for the both of you soon 🙂💖💖

You're right! I noticed in our apartment search that rent prices in Cuenca have definitely gone up. Unless we're getting gringo prices. Although unfurnished apartments tend to be much cheaper, I can imagine that the cost to furnish an apt will be significantly higher that what we're looking for at the moment. @@TheXplorasDiary the thought of gringo prices had crossed my mind as well. The husband in the videos did say that it happens very often and you really need to stand up for yourself. The house they rented was going to be around the same price as what the apartment you looked at was going for but he eventually got them to drop the price. Happy Househunting 😊

WOW! hahaha, I moved into P_____O 2 months ago . Choose it mostly for the pool .The staff is fantastic. Swimming is my is exercise . With just a elevator ride and a short walk past the dog park . Can't help but get to the pool 5 times a week easily. Stop and pet the dogs along the way. My favorite neighborhood is El Vergel . When in El Centro have admired Goza but never stopped . Don't think I have ever dinned at the same place twice . Always love it. En realidad disfruta tus videos . Had to look that up. New water proof earbuds . Pool time is now also spanish lesson time ! Gracias ( knew that one )

I'm so glad you're enjoying your time at the apt. complex. The pool and the views were some of our favorite features of the place. I'm still trying to figure out where my favorite spot is. I think El Vergel is a really sweet spot given that you can literally walk to el centro from there. There's also a Tutti Freddo there and I might be developing an addiction to their ice cream. I suspect we might spend way more money if we lived around that area because there are so many nice restaurants and more things to do. Would probably be tempted to eat out more 😂. What neighborhood has a pool ? I prosume adult swim times ? Walkable to Centro ?

@@BPe-ie9je Palermo on Ave Ordonez Lasso. Walking distance to El Centrol yes . But not a short one. Walk to the train very enjoyable . .30 cent bus ride from my front door. Very enjoyable ! During covid guess they switched to reserved only. and kept it. Apartment pool . Big enough to compress your work out . Would be difficult with others in the pool. Can only book 24 horas in advance. ( keeping it fair ) Can usually get my favorite times. Would send a pic. But don't see that option . There are good public indoor pool choices also .

The view is everything for me, relocating next year to my beautiful Cuenca, a little nervous because I’m bringing a 98 pound doggie with me, and a lot of apartments say no 🐶

Appreciating your apt looking video. Thanks. Still looking ? Find a place ? as gal a 'locator person? ' ? Moving to EC I"m '24. Soon, I hope.. Sounds like 'tourists' are down so prices should come down too, or negotiate down ? Have you found a place yet ? This video apt was very clean. What neighborhood was it ? walkable to Centro ? I hear El Vergel is super. Sometimes a bit noisy??? Love the video. Thanks. Glad to see you eating salads. In US I'm big salad eater and I heard few times, 'dont eat the salads'.........so thanks. They say in EC, negotiate. Is that your experience ? Do you want to look more before that step ?

We're still looking for something for permanent. Although we found something temporary in order to avoid continuously paying for airbnbs. I plan to do a video on that. In terms of the neighborhood, unfortunately I forgot what that was called. But it wasn't a short walk to centro. El Vergel is more walkable to centro and really in an ideal location. There's much more to do around that area, so I can imagine it can become a bit noisy, depending on where you live.

@@BPe-ie9je Yes, you can negotiate with the landlords here in Ec and I definitely recommend that.

@@TheXplorasDiary Thanks for response... I wake up middle of night, nightmares about finding a place. EC making the news last month (whenver it was) probably slowed down tourists/snowbirds and people coming so hopefully for you two (and for me when I get there) it will be easier aand prices cheaper or more negotiable. Your videos are TOPS. Thanks. If you need anything speak up......... not sure 'when' but I'm coming. 🙂

We thought it was a little overpriced. Plus, they were asking for two times the rent for a deposit. Seemed a bit much compared to the other ones we saw.
