Lovely video beautiful streets and YES the Mercado reasonable, so varied one can get everything they need in one place. The western style grocery store had high prices almost identical in America. It’s outrageous truly. $45.00 for a dinner, a component for breakfast, a few staples-milk, flour a few other components to stretch the little I have and that’s it! $10.00 at the Mercado I imagine and last a week! 🤦♀️😩. Love your music choice too. Such a colorful city full of life and kind people. Thank you🙏🏻❤️

I really enjoyed my time in Cuenca! I took that double-decker bus tour, too. Another thing to love about Ecuador is that they use the U. S. dollar. So much easier when you don't have to constantly do currency conversions in your head!

Hi, Thank You for a Great video. I have travelled back and forth to Ecuador 5 times starting in 2001. I now live in Sangolqui ( 3 years now ) and plan to live here for the rest of my life. I recently went back to U.S.A. for a visit and was Shocked at the prices! No way I could live there again! Viva Ecuador!!!

There is so much to consider! Does the building have a generator, centralized gas, water storage. In an older building, where is the water heater, if not centralized, it should not be inside the apt. If it is, it should be vented outside. I would want to meet the landlord. There are good and bad landlords.

Wow! I like the house the best! Did you take it???? As much as I love Cuenca, I'd prefer the house. If in the city, I also prefer the older apartment. More my style. I'll be settling further south. South of Loja. Malacatos, Vilcabamba, but not right in either town.

Nice video. I am also an American who moved here because I could no longer afford America. My wife is an Ecuadorian and I have traveled here 5 times since 2001. I had culture shock the first few times, but now I am here until I die. Which God permit will be a long time, longer than it would have been in the U.S.A. Welcome to Ecuador! And Thank You for sharing your optimistic vision of this Beautiful country and it¨s kind people!

Excellent videography and music, just like professionals. Great video! I have a few questions, not sure if you'd know the answers. But if you do, I'd be grateful if you answered. I'm looking into retiring early, so looking for all affordable options. Since I don't speak spanish, my biggest concern would be, in case of an emergency. It could be a medical emergency or safety issue emergency I wouldn't be able to communicate, therefore delayed getting life saving help. I will do my best to learn the language, but I don't know where I'm going to retire yet. It could be a small town in France or Italy too. So, I want to wait until I know for sure before I learn the language. And I'm a single female, how safe is it there for single females? And can someone from the US get medical insurance, if so how good and how much would that be? And can you use cards to pay for things, or does it have to be all cash? Because I heard that they won't give change back there, even if you pay them $20 for something that is $5. Do they have organic food there, no pesticides, herbicides and other toxic chemicals? Thank you in advance. I really enjoy your lovely videos.

Lived in Cuenca for 5 years and never paid more than 300 a month all incl for great rentals.. To pay more than 450 is ridiculous ..and who wants to live in Gringolandia except folks who dont speak spanish and have oodles of money available

Yes, I had been to Ecuador previously in 2017, but it was for a Jterm class. When I visited in 2017, I had no idea I'd call this place home in the future. But coming here, put the country on my radar. So when we were deciding where to move to, we decided to come here because I liked how it felt when I came here years before.

LOL. Don't know how simple or complicated it is to open a restaurant here. But the local economy is not in the best shape, so I'd recommend coming here with the intention of working online. Preferably, a remote job where you earn in dollars or maybe, an online business.
