A truly inspirational film, FINDING JOE takes us on the ultimate hero's journey: the journey of self discovery. As you slay dragons and uncover treasures, you just may find that the holy grail you seek is closer than you think.
If you've seen this film then you know how much of an impact it could make in the world!
A message from the Producer:
"If you haven't seen it then you are in for a treat! This is hope, courage and love all wrapped up in an 80 minute burrito of inspiration. I promise who ever you share this with thank you. Please share this with as many people as you can... the world needs this message now! With Maximum Love ~ Patrick Takaya Solomon"

Thanks for this. I'm 74 years old and have a fatal lung disease but I've done more living than 10 people my age. My whole life has been a journey of testing myself and finding that I truly can do anything I want to do. Every step along the way I learned more about myself, the nature of people and who I am. Finally I learned that my true calling is to struggle to make the world a better place so that when it is time to go I have no fear of the final journey, knowing that I have succeeded in my own small way to make life better for people I have met along the way and ultimately for humanity. Very soon now I will embark on that final journey with the joy that I have experienced each time I started out on a new path of exploration of this world and the people I meet and finally of myself.

Hi Ronzig, Perhaps you truly can do anything you want to do! I have discovered there is no such thing as a fatal disease, only fatal thinking. Have you heard of Dr. Joe Dispenza yet? His latest book is titled Becoming Supernatural. He has many KZfaq videos and about 500 testimonials independently given from people he has shown how to heal themselves from every so called fatal disease out there. You sound like a guy that should live many more years because you have so much more to give. You decide, no one else.

I'm turning 52 and I just wanted to say this film is a game changer in my life. I prayed to God for help in my life. My life had grown stagnant. I've been married for 34 years, my kids are grown and I took care of my mother and father for 9 years until God called them home. I've been high upon the mountain and low in the pit of the valleys. Now it's time to find myself again. May God Bless us all on our journey.

This movie just compiled the last year and a half of my life and put all the pieces together and made it make sense. In 2019, I lost my 22 year old son and my entire world broke apart. Trying to pick up the pieces and put them back together to find meaning in my life again, has been the most utterly painful and the most amazingly beautiful experience. "In every heros journey, something must die in order for something to live" Within the heartbreak of losing my boy, a door of my heart has been opened to a different version of me. I like to think of it as my sons "gift" to me. In losing him, my "self" has been cracked- the concrete so to speak, has been chipped away and the gold within is starting to shine through. Thank you,Timothy!💔💖 I may never, in this lifetime truly understand why THIS had to be the thing to bring me to this place. But I am grateful to you and to the universe..for "it is in the the broken places, that the light shines through" ✨~Rumi

@@patricktakaya wow, thank you for seeing me. I'm humbled and honored. I am so sorry for your loss as well. It is such a strange truth how it is in and through our pain that our treasure lies. I just read this quote "When we suffer, feel pain of loss etc a deeper appreciation & level of love is expanded inside of us. Our ability to love after such deep sadness is magnified once we strip back, accept & finally see the root of our pain. The removal & healing in the process of suffering leaves room for greater love to exist." I pray this for you and your child/children. People everywhere are in search for true inner peace and joy that will last for eternity, but it can only be found in Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you more than you could ever know and He wants to give you this peace. I am sharing my best friend's story with you in hopes that you will come to know Jesus Christ and find real peace and comfort in your soul. God bless you. Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey Family Story Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price] “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Your Story What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready? “...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c) ****************************** This testimony has been made into a gospel tract. If you or your Church would be interested in passing them out or if you would like to send a word of encouragement to the family, please go to: facebook.com/GITM-Foundation-113997824650357/

It’s all very inspiring and great, all these people wrote books, rode the waves, made it following their Bliss. But I think it would have been interesting to hear from people that as well followed their bliss, but didn’t make it, their book was not published, their ideas were not heard and they are still struggling, probably caught in some critical country, trying to escape poverty and still following their bliss. Because there are millions of those. Whose scripts end up in the trash, their ideas don’t catch anybody’s interest, they don’t get the loan, and they still follow their bliss. They are the Heroes.

Ana Perez dear Ana, I have lived with my projects and bliss guiding me. Most of them didn’t become famous outcomes. However the sum of all of these faithful journeys are where I am now. I Am an artist, a dancer, a teacher, a seamstress and a traveler. I use all my talents and the faith i have found in myself in everything I do. I’ve been on stages as a performer, I’ve exhibited my art, I’ve worn my clothing designs, I’ve taught art to children, I’ve traveled far and wide. Currently I’m a companion to an elderly man with Alzheimer’s. Did my bliss and dreams not come to be? Can I not give him my journeys and joys? the bliss seekers who don’t find what they hoped for may still be living their bliss and content to do so. It’s a lifestyle to seek and battle fears and recover from disappointments. It leads to mysteries. We may need to get lost or diverted or not reach the mountaintop. The outcome is fluid. I sense each of the speakers have lost and not found their bliss many times over.maybe we are hearing them at a good point. Our good points in life are transient. We ebb and flow. We loose and gain. Poverty or death does not mean failure. I understand what you are saying. this movie is uplifting and gorgeous with gorgeous people and gorgeous words. Art in this movie/context I think wants to encourage and inspire. I used to put poverty and death and suffering in my art and people turned away from it. It was for me. It had meaning to me. But it doesn’t sell. It didn’t inspire. The dark side and poverty has meaning too. We don’t see it in this movie, but I’m sure it is understood to be there. Wise people refer to “ non success” as the path. Thank you for making me think.

Ana I was going to say the same thing. Love this doco, but it seems easy to focus on those whom we can say are 'successful', and ignore the many who are not only facing their own dragons, but those of others, and who keep going. I think those stories deserve to be told too. What is their journey and how can their lives also be considered valid and powerful? Are we not simply honouring success we can point to rather than actual inner achievement, which is more inarticulate and identifiable? And, also, isn't it easy to find those who have met 'success' and for them to backtrack to how they got there? We all have our narratives and those who've 'made it' are encouraged to tell us theirs. Often. What about a doco talking to people who are still at that fear stage, who haven't really 'made it' or conquered themselves? There's a point where one of the talent in the movie is talking about doing a 360 on a skateboard and he's falling off a lot. I want to talk to him right then, to see how he's facing up to the fear and panic, while he's lying on the ground after falling off the 10th time. Thats something I feel I can draw on more; a fellow traveller, not someone who I feel is talking from the mountain top of 'success' and hindsight. Patrick, this is not a criticism, just riffing on taking the next steps in the journey of self discovery that Campbell oriented is towards. Thanks mate.

I agree, Ana. What if becoming who we're intended to become doesn't mean winning the entrepreneur's award, becoming a doctor or lawyer or earning a Ph.D., or becoming well known? What if a person whose means are very modest has mastered the hero's journey too---and her journey is to live a small enough life that many people who could never afford the retreats and courses or even books by the super-wealth-achievers can learn these lessons through her? It's easier to find the wealthy and famous, though! This is probably why they are featured here---that, and we tend to put trust in money and they've collectively earned a lot of it. It is true that there are probably millions who have found and are following their bliss right now, who reside all over the fame and wealth scales, who most of us will never have the pleasure to meet in this life. I know a few, and they are inspiring too.

Hare Krishna. You can miss them all for all the nonsense they represent. This man has the right to waste his own life, but out of sheer arrogance, he gleefully wasted the lives of those who trusted his mindless speculations. Like a pseudo God, he wanted to be heard, but his myth theories are unbearable. God in His intelligent and powerful personality allowed this guy to bewilder himself. Now only bewildered people spend time with his superficial word jugglery. Now I know why exactly I must defend the Absolute Truth. With sincere regards, I remain steadfast to dispelling myths. The truth will set a sincere person free, but myths are bound to strangle one in the snare of repeated birth and death in a miserable mortal world. 🙏🏻

Almost three years after a lil-c (cancer) diagnosis, I am finally starting my life where I left off back in January 2018. This movie is super inspiring and giving me the courage to get out there and try. I faced the “on death’s door” moment where I looked at all that I didn’t do in my life.. and I didn’t like it. Now I am living my life with no regrets and every once in awhile I find myself in that “poor me, poor me” spot.. where I think life was unfair to send me lil-c.. but then I say “hey, get over it.. you’re still here!” This movie, I am sure, will be played often when I find myself in those spots.. thank you for putting this out for so many to be able to view it and be inspired by it!

I've Loved JC since I first saw him on PBS and read his books decades ago. My life has been an unmitigated circus with over 76 jobs learning all I could about all there was, wondering what I was truly meant to do. I found that Nothing sparked true lasting joy except talking to people. My job of 26 years working in a school running a store ended with the Covid shutdown. At 70 I can truly say I am happy for those that have a passion for anything and pursue it. Even with this great pep talk I am left with none of it. The flame is all but out and the pilot is gasping. Idleness was never in my cards, but 16 months of it has left me feeling like it is where I now rest. I certainly never followed any rule book--quite the contrary. Never got rich, never bought a home, but I sure did enjoy the journey. But the drive is gone. Good luck to those that still have a passionate drive at anything. I enjoyed the movie. I'm happy for all of the cheerleaders in it. Peace.

My mother gave this documentary to me on DVD years ago when I was heartbroken. By now, I practically know it by heart. Words fail to do justice to the impact it has had in my life. It brings me to tears every time I watch it, as I hear my inner monologue expressed - not by me, but to me. “The seed of potential that wants to be actualized... that’s being whispered to: “It’s time for you to do that.” Its time to leave the belly of the whale. Again.

I woke up literally in the middle of the night, 12: something am, from a dream of myself taking off my clothes. I opened KZfaq, the first video was the story of FKA Twigs. Then I saw this video. My oh my.. The Universe is speaking and reaffirming again. Just like the phone calls in the video. I got goose bumps. This video itself is the phone call to me. Just last night only I was speaking to my sister about our consciousness and reflection of our journey, our childhood memories, experience and dreams that has been shaping us of who we are now. This video has spoken to me on so many levels. I am an artist and I have chosen to do what I love and continue on my journey apart from all the fears and insecurities.

Disgusting that the cycle of life, that cycle of repeated birth, death, old age and disease is glorified. This is the devastating misdemeanor of myth creators. Who wants to remain in the cycle of samsara. It's a serious trap, and anyone with any intelligence should seek out the Absolute Truth, that which grants freedom from suffering. We don't need lies to comfort us. We want the solutions, and a myth dispenser is actually quite insensitive and ignorant to this need for liberation. Happy mythical birthday March 26th, 2023 to the enemy of Truth, J Campbell.

There are people everywhere in search for true inner peace and joy that will last for eternity, but it can only be found in Jesus Christ.

Following bliss. 15 years ago I had EMDR therapy for a childhood trauma. I came out of that experience a change person, thinking "I'm going to do that! Everyone HAS to do EMDR!" Learning that I'd need a masters degree was crushing because my thoughts were "I'm a single mom that'll take FORever!" An opportunity to move to another state came along and with courage I moved me and my 17 yo daughter. A year in I learned I could get my BS taking one class at a time in my town and be done in 16 months. Still not thinking I'd pursue a counseling degree, I did find 2 other local universities offering the masters degree. Finding out 2nd semester that I had to quit working full-time, I plunged. I asked the school about options and found an elderly lady who was offering her home to students to live for FREE! Absolutely free. Taking advantage of those opportunities has me a year into being a psychotherapist for domestic violence survivors. Next week I will attend training for EMDR! I didn't know about Hero's Journey or following bliss. But that's what I have done. Wow. How about that?

@Futures Had I not experienced and enormous relief from my own EMDR therapy I may had thought it was woo woo stuff. It's not. There are multitudes of data the touts EMDR as valid. The WHO also promotes this as evidence-based treatment for trauma. It seems you may not have had a positive experience with any therapy. And what may work for one, may not work for another. Doesn't mean it's all bunk.

I am so thankful for coming by this, this evening. I have gone through a life time of serving my family and others. Trying to earn a degree and working to survive as single mom and grandmom. This year has been the most trying. I have not worked since giving up my job in January. I had been ill but was confident adult children living with me would pull us through. They went their own way and then covid struck. I lost everything, my apartment my car and being unable to breath in a mask I have not worked. I have spent this year studying Chopra, Abraham Hicks, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Joe Dispenza and a quite a few others. I am at a place in life where I have to look at myself. I have lost myself in others. I love how you share that fact we loose ourselves. Learning to focus on myself and learning to love myself has been a big challenge for me. I love the way this study addressed all those thoughts running through me. Thank all of you who took time out to share your story. I will work on mine.

We are in the same place, like so many other Mothers who have done such a great job with our children that they have left the nest and then having lost our own identity in suporting others. Unfortunately, even though I thought I had been a good example of taking care of your elders the culture doesn’t. I have been struggling with the shock about how little this current culture doesn’t really value parenting, giving birth and wisdom of elder women. I’m getting too deep here! Suffice it to say you are not alone in this struggle!

Thank you Patrick Solomon and ALL who were involved in this incredible movie. It truly touched my heart and could not have come at a better time. As the universe does, doors opened and the synchronicity of stumbling upon this picture was meant to be. Such wisdom shared through Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. The stories told by real people, living their real lives and sharing how they were influenced throughout their life's journey was inspiring to say the least!! I will joyfully share this movie and speak about it in my next class. We need more stories like this ..to be shared.. to help the countless people being affected by isolation, sadness and ..their dragons.. coming to the surface in these most difficult times. Ultimately, watching this movie, without a doubt will help the hero's within us rise to the top. Again, thank you for sharing!

So glad you identified this challenge with all the "should" messages we receive from well meaning family, friends and society. @@Alphaproximita The term " finding your bliss."..which is why the word is spoken here so often...coined,by Joseph Campbell in a hugely popular PBS series and writings in the 70/80s for those familiar with him is code...rather like the garden of eden for those,in the west...we all know what the garden of eden means. Its just cultural code shared. I know it sounds touchy feely, ethereal or like b.s. but I am first and foremost,an academic scientist who believes in and uses the scientific method. WE psychologists cannot measure what is,described here...the quest, overcoming obstacles, triumphing in the battle of our own unique life...but we all know it exists at a very fundamental internal level. THis is the reason stories have similar themes across cultures, time, and religions. I can easily measure how smart a person is....ie their IQ which measures general intelligence with the WAIS and I can measure their degree of mental illness, if any, with the MMPI , but I cannot measure how courageous they have been in life, how rich,or fulfilling their life has been...only in story does that persons life story open to understanding and experiencing as an observer or chronicler to someone else. TO find your bliss means to act to DO , to accomplish that which has roadblocks, the challenging things that speak uniquely to us, in spite of our own personal fears and demons.....mine was to master a large body of knowledge in order to help others followed by jumping off the edge of the earth metaphorically as a sailor living aboard and sailing with my partner for a decade.....just the two of us surviving whatever was thrown at us calm or angry seas, and lastly settling in a totally foreign culture, building a house, learning the customs, adapting our minds to a completely different culture. Others as you see in the film, have their, own unique journeys.....that is following your bliss,,what moves you forward in life and outward from your inner self.
@RichardDeHaven

@@latinaalma1947 I have a different perspective on finding our bliss. I do believe our bliss comes from within regardless of the actions we take in life. Yes, we can discover, through our actions and experiences to find our bliss, but it's still a matter of going within to experience it. Aligning with our inner bliss, which for me, means learning to love and be joyful for no other reason than because that is who I am by nature, inspires us to act, to do, to accomplish in some of the most magical ways and at times overcome what appears to be challenging times. I align first with my inner bliss (thoughts) then take action from that space. I do not believe it is our actions that move us forward in life, I believe it is only our thoughts that define how we move forward. I also know someone who sailed the world alone for 6 years. She said it was a beautiful experience. She didn't encounter any difficulties of any kind and she attributes that to aligning her thoughts often, getting into a feeling of bliss before taking inspired action. She said it was magical.

The phrase he taught his followers is Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo. Myo means mystic, Ho means law, Ren ge means cause and effect, Kyo means life. Was sledgehammered about 2 years ago. The feeling is undeniable. Did all the inner and outer work, but haven't had that door open yet. Ready to move forward in my true path. Hands of Fate In the grip of the hands of fate A destiny that no one can relate A feeling so deep in my soul No matter how hard I try, cannot control It's running on a mind of it's own Explaining to others can't be shown Just have to wait until timing is right A feeling that refuses to give up the fight Holding on for the better days Until freedom hits, the feeling stays Can't wait for grey clouds to go away The day the sun shines its powerful rays Awakened from slumber, purpose revealed Something inside nobody can steal Not a choice, it's definitely real Signed on the line, envelope sealed The weight of the world on my shoulders Relinquished the fear, time to be bolder Ready to unleash the feeling inside It shows up everywhere, no place to hide

Deeply moved by the sharing of each of the speakers, I met myself through their eyes and their stories. Made me also understand that in these times of uncertainty, anxiety and fear (I write this August 2023) we are sometimes led through spiritual teachings and meditations to focus on “gratitude” as if that is the only way to access peace and to accept what is happening in the world - yes, gratitude is important but let that not stop anyone for striving for their BLISS. Many of them have already written in our discussion forum about how much they have enjoyed it. One student wrote, "My self-understanding has also been affected [by this course], mostly after watching Finding Joe. ... Living in such a complex society like we do can feel at times as if we are pulled simultaneously in all directions, by context, cultural expectations, family expectations, personal fears disguised as practicality-the list could go on and on. The hero’s journey as a tool for personal development has the potential of cutting through the noise and bringing much needed clarity." Putting it more concisely, another student wrote, "I feel so empowered after watching that movie!"
