I'm so disappointed that I'm not going to get to watch the premiere next week Wednesday because I don't have a Disney Plus account but as soon as it starts to stream on other streaming platforms I'll be binge watching those two episodes and all the other follow up episodes

I am most of all happy for Rick Riordan. To have gone through what he did with his stories, and to finally see it be adapted in the way we all wanted, is so sweet. I really never thought we would get the show/movie we deserved, the way Harry Potter did, but here we are. And for those questioning the cast (very few are now, ha!) it is so clear to me that they were meant for these roles. Walker is percy jackson, through and through. It feels like fate. Middle school me is freaking out over this. We all have to make our friends and family watch this- they deserve a second season. Rick Riordan deserves to tell the full series. It would be so cool to watch these actors grow up and grow into themselves. Ugh I am so hyped.

if i was a filmmaker and wanted to do an adaptation of a book that means so much to kids/teens. i'd have the author be at my side and create something that is faithful to the book but also something that is its own thing. i read what happened to rick riordan during the making of the first film and that was heartbreaking. a man put so much into these books and then to see hollywood bastardize it into something that ended up becoming mid. disney did the right thing in having riordan on board.

I think he looks just as I imagined him but with blonde hair. I would say that about Annabeth though because she looks nothing like our Annabeth but if she does the character justice, it’s alright. I’ll personally still imagine her with blonde hair and gray eyes but I’m hoping she does a wonderful job!

I’ll probably never picture her when I read the books (I imagine Viria’s art for most characters) but it doesn’t mean she can’t do her justice on the screen. 😊

I’ve watched all of Walker’s films so far and I can say that he’s going to nail the role of Percy Jackson. He’s absolutely perfect. I don’t care that he doesn’t have jet black hair. I’m just happy that the characters were cast at the right age, and that the team is very dedicated to making the best adaptation. I couldn’t ask for a more better team at adapting this amazing series. I can’t wait until next week. I won’t be able to hold in my excitement. 😊

I got into the movies a decade ago, and that’s when I started getting into the books, which have more details. This is what we fans need for great storytelling these days, not that silly, unnecessary rehash for Harry Potter. This series is like Stranger Things and Harry Potter combined!

I think that was Disney’s intention. Production started in early-2021 when Stranger Things 4 was still being filmed. Disney knew they had a property that was action packed and starred middle school age protagonist. The Duffer brothers had stated that Stranger Things would end at season four or five. Disney knew that Percy Jackson would probably fill the void once Stranger Things ends. Honestly, we should hope that the series does well enough on Disney+ for them to do the rest of the series.

With the new cast, Riordan feels that everyone involved is "perfect," even if they don't look exactly like how they might have been written in the original books. With Scobell, Riordan noted, "Did I care that his hair is a different color than what is described in the book? Not at all. He just felt like Percy.” With Simhadri's Grover, Riordan similarly added, "Does he look exactly like I describe him in the book? No. That doesn’t matter." "Leah impressed me from the moment I met her. She has that sort of steel that makes her a leader, but there’s a bit of vulnerability to her," the author went on to say about Jeffries. “Now, again, does she look like Annabeth looks in the books? No. Was that important to me? No. If anything, it was a massive benefit to broaden the cast in terms of representation.”
