Hello, friends!
Oh how I missed you-- I’m so sorry I’ve been away from KZfaq the past 2 weeks. I got really sick and wasn’t able to film. I’m better now though and feeling immensely grateful for my health!
That being said, I am struggling a bit emotionally and mentally. I think it's because I'm all out of routine. Rather than looking at it like I have so very much to catch up on, I'm going to see it all as a fresh start. As the season changes, I'm going to cultivate comfort and work on old habits of self-sabotage. Starting now! With this vlog : ) Who's with me??
Thank you so so much to everyone who commented or messaged me asking if I was alright while I was gone. You all made me feel so cared for ☀️
And thank you so much for being here ❤️
Big hugs,
Morgan

Welcome back! I just wanted to hopefully reassure you by saying: regardless of your analytics, the quality of your videos has remained so incredible, and it is obvious how hard you work on them every week. I hope you will be confident in your videos and your work because I am confident every week that they will be absolutely wonderful and joy-bringing! It may take some time to grow out of this self-sabotage mindset. But we'll be here with you through it :)

this video came to me exactly when I needed it. I'm 44, and have been working myself to the bone to try to show my worth and value to the group I work with (in the same group for over 17 years!) and it's so exhausting and I know not sustainable for my health. You are wise beyond your years, and your videos bring me peace and calm. Thanks for sharing your light on here Morgan, you need to know how appreciated it is. ❤

Oh dear sweet Morgan....you are enough! You are perfect just as you are! Friends will come and go throughout our lives. They serve the purpose they were meant to serve at certain times in our life. Each of us matures and grows at a different pace. Hold tight to the friends that help you achieve a better YOU as those are the truly amazing ones. You ARE doing exactly what you should be doing at this point in your life. You are touching people's lives and making our days just a little brighter. I love your creativity and desire to try new things. I can't wait to see where your illustrations will take you. Whatever you do, if it brings you JOY, it is the right thing for you. Believe in yourself....your wondrous self!

Self Sabotage truly comes from years of conditioning, of believing we are not good enough. We are not worthy of that life. I would always lol at myself for dreaming that dream. What I have understood is that the process of breaking the pattern is not linear. Our ego, our fears will continue to nudge us in the wrong way. It's one of the ways we feel protected but like you said Morgan, once we recognise it for what it truly is, healing begins. Wise words have been spoken by a very wise woman. You are a powerful witch Morgan. You are always choosing to step into the light. Thank you for the gentle reminder. ❤️

@@CrisOnTheInternet the core of self sabotage is at two levels as far as I have understood them : A. Fear of stepping into one's power and actually changing into who we are meant to be in any sphere of life. It comes from fear of being great B. Deep subconscious feeling of unworthiness. You will find a path that is yours to trailblaze. I'm sure of it. Keep doing your shadow work.

Well said!! And breaking the cycle can be changing your language! I was so hard on myself too (aren’t we all a little haha) and self defeating, but my teacher taught me the power of words and language. To start telling yourself you are, you can, you will instead of the negative words. He even says the word “try” is weak and bound for failure. 🤔 it’s important to say “I will” instead of “I’ll try”

I'm so so happy that you're feeling better! We are all so grateful to have you back here, but glad you took the time you needed to truly rest. I truly cannot remember the last time I felt unwavering confidence in myself and the chat at the end means so much to me. I always think that people might view me as conceited or selfish if I'm overly confident, so I just shrink into the background (or, more likely, be a very awkward and anxious human every time I interact with someone). It really is just self-sabotage that hurts me from reaching my goals and happiness. Your art is truly so cozy and whimsical. I saw another from another commenter that they would purchase a print, and I have to agree! I have been loving following your creative journey, it's so refreshing to see someone enjoy what they are passionate about! Thank you for always spreading such meaningful messages throughout your videos. I will never forget when I first found your channel and would just bawl because I felt so much joy and comfort through your message that we are all enough.

I particularly love your choice of music that plays in the background and just that special warmth I experience while watching your videos. Your ability to create such a warm and loving environment through your work is such a gift. Also thank you for showing your vulnerability and sharing your experiences with the struggle of perfectionism - I hope that you can also apply these loving words of self worth onto yourself. Morgan, I wish you all the best and hope that you can see how worthy- just by being you- you are. Sending love from Austria 🇦🇹

It’s so great that you are back Morgan-friend😊👏🏻! We all missed you. But it’s absolutely ok to take some time off. If you are sick or exhausted or just need a break. For any reason whatsoever, you have the right to look after yourself as long as you need it. I hope you feel much better now. When you were talking about self-sabotage and that you often have the feeling that you’re not doing enough or don’t reach all the goals you wanted to reach, it reminded me of a text I recently read on Instagram: „Western cultures believe we must be alive for a purpose. To work, to make money. Some indigenous cultures believe we‘re alive just as nature is alive: to be here, to be beautiful & strange. We don’t need to achieve anything to be valid in our humanness.“ Take care and see you soon… and I loved your vlog (of course!).

Inspiration can't be forced. Your videos are loved & looked forward to bc you're authentic & genuine (the list/compliments could go on, I digress). If you aren't feeling up to it allow yourself a break guilt-free. Most of us can call off work (for mental health reasons for some lucky employees) why can't you? Glad to hear you're feeling better! Think we're all guilty of putting too much pressure on ourselves & that's not what creative outlets are about imo. Though they are a good tool to turn bad feelings into something good/tangible. Food for thought. Love your content 💗

I'm in bed feeling rough after my second vaccination yesterday and this video appearing made me gasp with delight, and smile so wide. Getting lost in a wholesome and uplifting half hour(ish) is exactly what I need. Thank you for all your videos, Morgan, but especially for this one right now. And I don't think you're letting anyone down at all by taking a break from uploading, for whatever reason. In fact, I think you should take more breaks: you work so very hard, you deserve a holiday now and then, and I think it's a good way to build a healthy relationship to a job. Whatever the reason, I'm sure your community here want you to enjoy yourself and work on your own terms.

I’ve already felt like this about friendships, like everyone else where excluding me, but Morgan, don’t take everything to yourself, you have no fault of people letting go of your friendship (I have experienced that), if you made everything that you could do to that friend and even then they want to cut friendship, then go! You worth so much, so don’t take the guilt to yourself. And if you think you where wrong, forgive yourself and move on (do it better next time). Don’t feel bad for taking care of you for those days that you where apart, I love you and take care of you 🤎

I'm so glad you are feeling better and I'm so sorry you were ill!!!! I'm so happy about sweater weather here in Oregon!!!!! I can really feel the shift in temperature! I think as women - we have the tendency to play those negative tapes in our heads of being unworthy, not good enough. I can replay the bad or embarrassing things I've done over and over but somehow the wonderful, good things are never on that replay loop. And high school friendships...especially girls....it can just be hard. Hugs to you and thank you for sharing so much. Your channel will grow...it really will!!!

Your videos are fantastic!! They’re calming and peaceful and motivational too!! I struggle with the same insecurity issues. Isn’t it funny, how we can look at others and think there is no reason that they should ever feel insecure about anything, and yet, we can’t look at ourselves that way? At the beginning of August I decided that I would start taking better care of myself, mentally and physically. I pay attention to when I need rest and I try to give myself more compassion. It isn’t easy. I have to keep reminding myself. Hopefully, it’ll become second nature soon. I love your videos! You’re putting good out into the world!

Thank you, Morgan, for the talk on self-sabotage‼️You’re so damn smart! I’m going to replay, over and over again, your lecture. I too do a lot of self-sabotage exactly in the way you described working myself to the point of exhaustion and illness, yet it’s never enough to satisfy the people around me who never have a kind word to say to me. I keep working thinking I’ll get it right and maybe they’ll be satisfied this time, but you can’t please people with an agenda. Best just to focus on me 😊 I wish I could send you a bag of TJ’s Swedish Fish as thank you 🙏

If you want to learn to draw, one thing that I really recommend that’s free and doesn’t require a class is to bring a sketchbook with you and a pencil EVERYWHERE and draw what you see during any moment of free time you have. This is how I learned to draw. Draw the people sitting in your classes, the people on the bus, people at the park, stop and draw trees you see on a walk, birds, etc. No class can beat it. If you make drawing a lifestyle you’ll learn so fast and get so good. Also this sounds counterproductive but the best way to learn to draw in a specific style like how you want to is to actually learn how to draw realism first and then after you get good at that decision which aspects of that you’d like to change.

Hello Morgan. I am sorry to hear you were feeling unwell, glad you are doing better now. You are always missed, but I am glad you took care of yourself.. you have taught all of us just how important self-care is. We'll always be here waiting for you, but taking care of yourself is most important! It stinks that KZfaq analytics are so important to channel success... you are my favourite KZfaqr by far... when I talk to anyone about what channels I watch on KZfaq I always recommend yours! Your soul speaks to my soul.... when you shared at the end about overworking and self-sabotage. I know that feeling all too well.. I am a perfectionist and it can be very difficult NOT to put your whole self into everything you do. I struggle with always wanting to do things perfectly.. especially on the first try! And then when I don't, my self confidence is shaken. Self awareness is the first step. Thank you for being vulnerable with your audience. We love you so much. Your video style is whimsical, and cozy and quirky and fantastical and magical and soothing. And I hope you find your confidence back again... you are so talented... your art work was so beautiful. And you and Landon are the absolute sweetest. Thank you for always letting us viewers into your life. Take care of yourself. You are a very special individual and are doing such wonderful, blessed work in the world.

Thank you Morgan for your honesty and wise words. I too lost my self confidence in high school and I became that weird, awkward person in my friend group, thankfully though I have one amazing friend from my high school years who I have known now for 16yrs. It was definitely hard to overcome at the time, and even now at 29yrs old with two degrees, I still struggle daily with self confidence. You are right though, if people are the cause of it you don't need them in your life, and if we ourselves are the cause, the best thing we can do is acknowledge it and try to work with it. I have missed your vlogs and your wise words. Thank you for being so kind and honest in your videos. Have a lovely weekend! ❤

When I hear you say the parts you said at the end, I always think of brene brown's principles of whole hearted living. Number 7 is "letting go of exhaustion as a status symbol & productivity as self worth, and instead cultivating rest and play". I love brene brown. She has helped me loads. Can I also add that I have never come across another KZfaq that makes videos like yours, where you feel that your footage is like being in the cinema or watching a nature documentary. You are so much better than good enough!! Brene brown again: The most dangerous stories that we make up are the narratives that diminish our inherent worthiness. We must reclaim the truth about our lovability, divinity, and creativity xx

I really hope you'll be able to count on Patreon more and more so at least financial uncertainty won't matter so much on top of feeling sick. I really wish everyone could take sick days without fearing for their future. Ah, it broke my heart when you talked about self sabotage and losing confidence in oneself. And then I realized how much I related to everything you were saying. Thank you always for making me notice things about myself and for always encouraging us to become more observant and kinder. Welcome back and please take all the rest days you'll feel you need from now on!! ❤️

My sister said once: You can't carry on with you all the people in life. Friends come and go. They are here for a period not for a life. It's not your fault or them. People change, highschool friends are not the same as adults and it's perfect normal. I let go so much people and I don't know how to tell to a specific person that I'm not feeling comfortable anymore with her presence because we are not like 15 years ago... 🥺 She has taken so much in life and have a few friends... But I can't be the same person that she thinks and this is keeping me back from move on.

Hello Mo, I am very happy that you are fine again! Oh yes, here in Germany, autumn has definitely slowly arrived. The first leaves are falling, it is raining, it is windier and above all the typical gray. I'm looking forward to autumn, but I'm a little sad that it's going so quickly now. I miss the sun . But yes, it is the way it is. Landon's trick of putting the candy out of your reach .... I know well * smile *, I have to hide mine too if I want something the next day. My husband nibbles everything away from me ... lol. You are really brave, Mo To lie on the tree reading, I would be afraid of falling down the whole time ... I would be unsure to lie down ... I read The Midnight Libray too, but I didn't like it that much. The idea was great, but I found it too predictable. And mental illness has been discussed in a fancy way, in my opinion .... I really like your illustration, which shows you on the sofa. It looks so cute and the colors are nicely chosen. Your Steffi, I send hugs and autumn vibes

Hi Morgan! I am glad you are doing well and making these realizations. I needed to hear something like this. I am going through a transitionary period in my life right now and the self doubt is creeping more than ever. When you spoke of your experience, I realized that I am going down the road of self sabotage. Fear and doubt have been eating me alive lately and now I know this is self sabotage. Thank you so so so much for being you. Even if you don’t see this, please know I look forward to your videos ALWAYS. I see you as a friend. Stay strong oh wondrous you! ❤️🤍

Love your art piece! You could totally sell things like that. I can see people sending pictures of scenes or people that they want you to paint and personalize. Oh the possibilities 🤗 Also, side note, you mentioned in the beginning that you weren’t “showing up,” but you did. You showed up for yourself by taking a break 😉

What a beautiful video! I've had a busy few weeks and this video was the perfect reason to get a moment for myself and to catch up with my embroidery. I'm glad you took time for yourself to heal and get better. Your health and mental health always comes first. Your speech really made me think about some things in my life and I realized that I have also been self sabotaging some aspects of it. I will try to not do that in the future haha! I loved The Midnight Library by the way! I read it last year and I absolutely loved it.

Holy crap, it's insane how much I relate to your story of high school and friends. Mine is so so similar. I also became so self conscious in high school and slowly lost two of my closest friends. The same thing happened at university. Its hard because I miss our friendship so much and I want to reconnect but for some reason I'm so scared to reach out and be let down. I'm getting better at forcing myself to not overthink my current friendships or my status in them. I'm trying to just show up as my authentic self and know that thats more than enough. But it can be so challenging when I've spent so much time being hard on myself. Self sabotoge is absolutely right. I adore your reading tree and I so admire your art and your determination to learn new things and keep practicing at them. And hooray for sweater weather!

YES!! The exact same thing happened to me in college as well. I think it may have happened during the hardest part of lockdown as well. It's so eye opening recognizing the pattern and how it's repeated throughout our lives. Now that we're familiar with it, we can change it or at least not be so hard on ourselves when it's happening. I'm sorry about your friends-- you deserve better 💛
