After years of drinking alcohol to cope with stress and uncertainty, Sarah Weber found herself needing to make a choice: finish her bottle and possibly never wake up to see her family again OR call 911 and begin a long, difficult journey of recovery.
Today, Sarah is a Family Support Coordinator on VOA Alaska's Peer Support team, and sharing her story is a key component of her role. It helps her connect with the youth and families at VOA, meeting them where they are. She shows them that there is hope and light in the pain and darkness. She shows them that they are not alone.
VOA Alaska provides mental, emotional, and behavioral health services and supports to youth and their families at low or no cost.
We are here to help you. VOA Alaska offers a range of services in person, in schools, in the community, and via telehealth. Based on the needs of your child or teen, our team strives to provide the right level of care at the right time. Learn more at voaak.org or by calling one of our caring professionals today at (907) 279-9640.
