Francisco Gómez debunks the myth that there are no good tacos in NYC through a citywide 'taco tour' while discovering how food creates vibrant communities.
He starts at La Morada in the South Bronx, trying their mushroom tacos with an Oaxacan touch and local ingredients.
Next, he visits Birria-Landia, one of the first taco trucks to bring Tijuana-style birria tacos to the city (slow-cooked beef marinated in a secret adobo blend).

NYC gets the most love anyways. They have an international community , foods of all nationalities and races , so most food episodes are in NYC. This episode is just highlighting the presence of good tacos in NYC , which are more common in LA , since Mexico is right next door.

People will pay 5 dollars for a garbage chalupa at taco bell with barely any meat but will question homemade food. I am lucky I got a killer taco truck that sells loaded carne asada tacos for 2.79 with enough meat that 3 will fill you up.

OK I'm from LA. I was just in NYC this August. I was somewhat reluctant to even try to find good tacos in that town. I had heard many times that there were no good tacos anywhere on the east coast. I found good ones at a place called Tacos Mexico in Corona Queens. Being from LA and finding tacos THAT good I was very surprised!!

I’d try any of any those places. Tacos al pastor with pineapple juices dripping from a trompo is my favorite. As far as pricing, it appears location drives that as much as anything. In Phoenix I can quality street style tacos all day for $2

I live in NYC born/raised. I’ve tried burritos landia a couple times the other two not yet. But I’m sorry after visiting CDMX in 2019 for 5days that Place spoiled me and I have super high expections. NYC has a lot of great cuisines but tacos is just not one of them. I also won’t go out of my way to buy a $4-$5 taco. I rather book a flight ✈️ 🇲🇽…just talking about it makes me miss that place 😖 lolz. Now it’s too full of us gringos making stuff more expensive for the locals so I probably will just go to a lesser popularized city when I go back 😅

Everyone harping on the mushroom tacos needs to chill. I wouldn’t choose them first, but there’s only so many ways you can put meat and veggies in a tortilla in a whole segment on tacos. What’s wrong with some variety?
