The music played by the Late Night Band from 13 seconds through 29 seconds into this video while Bradley Cooper is walking on stage is Leonard Bernstein’s theme to his Opera “Candide”, but played in an Afro-Cuban-Latin-Jazz Style, a la “West Side Story”. That is so cool!

As a lover of classical music, I enjoyed the heck out of last year's Tar and am excited for Maestro and American Symphony. There's just something magical about a room full of people gathered to play and listen to complex and often wordless music. Maybe it's because it hearkens back to an era before the information overload of today, or because it evokes a sense of nostalgia for a time I never lived through. Whatever the reason, I hope movies and documentaries with music front and center keep getting made by people with passion and insight.

How on earth did Stephen pull this off? I do know. I've seen performers ready to die backstage, and go on and give not only a smooth, but an incandescent performance. Running on the energy of "Damn the pain I have to do this!" I was amazed the one time I did it myself. And in a later play clapped loudly for a fellow actor who did his damndest and had to give up onstage. He apologized to everyone as the EMTs carried him off the stage but we knew he tried his very best. "The show must go on" is not just a saying it is a battle cry. And a courage filled with love. I am glad Stephen is all right.

I think as we move into a post-work world, where we are freed from "labor to survive" akin to how we were freed from "farm to survive" in the past economical revolutions, people will find "work" is not what they hated, but being forced to work on another's dreams is what they hated. Indeed, I think in a post-work society, that society will be drunk on work that stems from self and one's own dreams, and it's going to be so gorgeous to see. Actors and artists are sometimes lucky enough to be financially well off enough to give us a glimpse of this now, but soon, all of society will have this. It doesn't matter what your dream is, if it is super smol and hidden away in the forest, or an omniverse deity level dream, what matters is that it is truly yours. I will check this out, Limitless is one of my personal favorites.

I believe a large swath of the film was shot at their Connecticut home that Bernstein's children still use to this day. From the small teases I've seen, I think it looks great. I posted a video about Leonard Bernstein on my KZfaq channel that documents what he was really doing on stage as a conductor. There's a phenomenon in the press where they pick 2 or 3 classical musicians and designate them as SACRED COWS. No matter what the sacred cows do on stage, the press refers to it as "the greatest." Bernstein was one of those sacred cows. The television appearances he did show him adding trumpets to the orchestra with Beethoven's symphonies and then when the interviewer asks him about Beethoven's ability to orchestrate, he says " IT'S BAD. He has the trumpets sticking out and they're drowning out everybody else!"

He's a marvel. With hindsight, his hands are pale and trembling, but I don't know if I'd know something was wrong if I didn't know something was wrong.

Cooper, the guest, says 'sorry to interrupt' to Colbert. Yes, Brad, that's how it feels to be on that show.

I just watched Maestro and if Bradley Cooper isn’t awarded the Oscar for Best Actor, then I have no idea who would be deserving of it.

I haven't seen Maestro but many critics change their minds and now are rooting for Bradley, when they were supporting Cillian, so I think we should see Maestro before decide anything. Both are incredible actors. 😊
