3:24 for context, PSA is currently not accepting any more card submissions (accept for those with an estimated value of over $50,000 I believe) since they are currently overwhelmed by the amount of cards submitted in the past few months. But don't worry if you already send your cards in, they will still get back to you it will just take a while.

@raff5595
@raff5595 3 жыл бұрын
@@taconative334 ok I get your logic, but it doesn’t work considering how essays are actually graded. An essay gets graded based on a checklist of things that it needs to have. Examples: good grammar, a good introduction, good conclusion, enough words, etc. That all get measured and summed up in the end to make your grade. So, depending in what was asked of you, you could have a very dry and boring essay that checks all the boxes and get 100% vs someone with a very creative and funny essay who gets a 95% because of an incomplete conclusion. Now that is a very subjective example because you could also be graded on criativity/originality, but you get the point. The system itself is kinda fucked up because it values following orders over being original, but there also needs to be a consistent framework that is the same for everybody so that it is fair, even if the nature of the framework isn’t fair by itself. So, because the teacher is not using a consistent method of grading and instead giving points comparing a student’s work with a possibility of a better work that doesn’t actually exist, it is, indeed, fucked up and unfair. Have an amazing rest of your night 😃👍
@caelcdye9575

I had an english teacher who graded exams like this was an absolute nightmare since basically the highest possible grade to get on an exam was a 92/93 since most of the exam was writing prompts and they were usually graded out of 10 points each so the max you could ever get on a problem was 9/10 essentially. I remember asking my teacher what I did wrong and why I got points docked and he literally said it was good but it could have been better and I don't give full marks. I was like bitch I got to apply to college and I am competing against other students that have teachers that are reasonable. In addition I have 50 fucking minutes for the test I dont have the time to write William fucking Shakespeare. The idea is sound but it doesn't actually work for grading since it doesn't give an accurate measure of the students ability in comparison to other students since their work is graded more harshly and they get a lower score even if their work is better. This is the reason why I hate English class.

A psa 9 vs a gem mint raw card might as well be the same thing. Especially if you want to sell because someone will buy in hopes to grade a 10. The count they do on the number of graded cards is off as well because most collectors always crack their 9's and send them back. The only accurate count is on 10's. The value and ability to sell these cards is way more complicated than what all these streamers are putting on. Open a pack and list the psa 10 value to click bait kids into buying, it's actually dishonest. And promoting bgs like it's the same as psa. It's not. A psa 10 will always be more valuable than a bgs quad 9.5

You just have to imagine the guys working there looking at hundreds of these and grading them one by one. They eventually just get lazy and want to be done with it, which explains the barrage of 9s. It also seems like a safe number to grade a card in for which you can't complain because it's a 9, but you can't tell why it couldn't be a 10.

That sounds kinda fucked tbh. They have every incentive in the world to artificially keep up the value of 10s cause, in a sense, they sell them. The more expensive 10s are, the better the EV of sending in a card that looks like one. But you can't really prove that accusation either, cause nobody's gonna believe you that you know better grading than the company. If they don't wanna lose the trust their entire business model depends on, they should really be more transparent about why a card didn't make 10.

The key word here really should be *long-term,* not just _investment._ For obvious reasons, Ludwig paid a premium on these cards initially & so now that the hype has died down again it may seem to have been a waste of money, but that's just not correct. *Pokémon will always rise again.* Always. There will be another season of hype, maybe surrounding a new type of game, or a mainstream movie, or something similar. Then *in a few years,* 1 of the current "big names" or influencers will show their love for the hobby & *boom;* literally. The prices will shoot through the roof, dwarfing any previous sales & it'll be impossible to get a hold of new product. A couple months ago _- before the announcement of Scarlet Violet -_ was an example of the perfect time to invest in Pokémon, as prices were lower than they've been in a couple of years.
@purplegion
@purplegion 2 жыл бұрын
Also I think it's important to mention the grades Lud received here. *Often with PSA* _- but not only with PSA, other grading companies also can do this -_ it really is 'luck of the draw.' If you got grader X, you would have gotten a 10 on every nearly-perfect card. But, if you got grader Y, they would have given 9's to those same cards & only 10's to absolutely flawless cards. _(IMO that's what should be a 10 anyway, but only if that standard is unanimous; across the board)_ *PSA* are also known for *manipulating the market* on higher end cards _- like the 1st edition Lugia -_ & holding those cards to a higher standard, which makes *absolutely no sense,* other than to make sure there aren't too many higher grades, which would *potentially lower their values.*

the rating system really sucks they should fix that. Its set up to facilitate fraud, and if most people cant tell the difference between a 10 and an 8 its not a good system. As a collector i think there should be a 10 and a 10 star. 9 for things that someone could see but not damage like a bend or crack, 1-8 can be for cards that have post production damage.

PSA gates the 10 rating. They can only have so many 10s out at a time so they gate it depending on the current traffic of the cards sent in. Its like pretty fraudulent and not a good mark of a card's quality. I used to grade for them.
