I was one of the many who chose Crawdad Creek, but I understand why it wasn’t a viable choice due to the infrastructure cost. With that said, I’m not going anywhere. I’m actually even more excited to see what you and your families can do. Anyone can make things happen when they have an unlimited budget. The real excitement is when you are able to overcome those budgetary constraints through the properly application of years of accrued experience..and you folks seem quite capable.

I’m really happy you guys picked this location, it’s going to be a great learning experience for me. Most people don’t have $600,000 to purchase something perfect. I’m excited to see the creation of it. ☺️

You guys are great storytellers, that unfolded beautifully in this episode. But Aust, just make sure you don’t miss some of the moments yourself while you’re busy sharing them with us! That look K gave you when you made the decision, wow, and you nearly missed it! By the way, I bet your dad’s happy now, he looked so despondent in the last episode! First it doesn't really matter what we think 🤣 it's your back sweat tears and money that is gonna go into this and you know more about what your doing than the majority of us 🤣🤣 I'm excited to watch y'all turn another property into a home! ONWARD AND UPWARD!! Two people working hard together to achieve a goal are UNSTOPPABLE and anything is possible for those willing to make the sacrifice to get it done. The mountain is BEAUTIFUL!! I suggest you look into the possibility of scouring the property for a natural spring. With the areas holding water like that, its likely you have one or more there. Get yourself someone local, familiar with the territory who has the skill to search it out, to come scout your property for a spring. That would be a fantastic find to spur the building of your future homestead. Worth a look for sure. Blessings and can't wait to see what you folks create there!!

This is so awesome! I think you guys made the right choice. When you guys initially asked which property we thought would be best I’d initially thought crawdad creek, was typing up my response and everything and just… stopped, because I had this funny feeling that my initial response wasn’t really right. With all the facts on the table and what everything would cost, this choice makes a lot of sense and the view. Is. Stunning.

Patience is the opposite of procrastination. Good choice. The amount of solar energy that can be harvest there will build lushes green grass and provide enough energy to be grid free.

When you two are old, sitting on the porch together with grand babies running around... that view of that mountain is priceless, but that mountain will keep you focused on your dream

Following your heart is never a mistake, what's wrong for someone else, could be just perfect for you and that's the only way to know that.

So happy for you! We moved to our homestead property several years ago (Missouri). No it was not our dream property but, like you, we saw the potential for what we wanted to do. Every year we look back and see how much closer it is getting to our dream property. Prayers for you and your family and this beautiful new homestead.

No, look- I wish I had that beautiful property right *now*, not just in five years! I love a beautiful hill, and I love how it's not impossibly steep, it's just so gorgeous all around. And what a nice little creek down by the road! It ain't my business really, nobody else's either, but I would 100% have gone with the mountain myself. I just can't get over the combination of nice, clear woods, and pasture-to-be!

I'm so happy for you for picking beautiful sunny mountain. It will be quicker than five years if you can afford an excavator....dig the swales, catchment ponds, form terraces really quickly. Bring in fodder, water, shelter, electric moveable fencing and put your cows to work gleeing the ponds, breaking up the compacted dirt with their hooves. Put up some shelters with rain water harvesting tanks. Make some Johnson Su bioreactor compost (use weeds if that's all you have), some other biofertilisers. Seed some multi species pasture crops when it rains and pre coat the seeds with biofertilisers. When you have cows, you can turn around really degraded sites in one year if you get rain.

As per your comments at the end, why wouldn't I stay and watch? I love seeing creativity flourish. To be able to take something from a blank canvas and create your dreams out of it ... I ask you again, why wouldn't I stay and watch the magic?

I think I heard, “done is better than perfect” on the Holler Homestead. As a perfectionist, I struggle with this, but I am getting better at it!

Beautiful homestead site! You know, you can set up a passive water piping system, if you have running water. That would be great for livestock water.

I think I’d follow your parents for their knowledge as well as seeing the kids play and their happiness. Mom needs sunshine and that’s something you can try to capture at the new home in the way of a sun room or something but the kids playing in the little creek will give her some peace and happiness too.

We did the same: bought up in the sun. What a difference in the winter! What a difference the sun makes for the garden in the summer! We had to put in a well but it was so worth it. So worth it. Go for it guys!!!!

I love this land, I am very excited to see how it transforms for you. This was always my favourite as it's bright it's up high it's sunny (the creek was beautiful but made.me feel cold and damp, and summers with lots of mosquitoes) this property is bare bones but has a lot to offer. Yay! I'm excited for you all! I voted for crawdad creek but after the last video explaining the cost of the drive way it definitely wasn't the right choice for your goals. For the cost of getting the driveway in you can have a few wells drilled. We priced one out in CO and it would have started at $12k, but I know things are cheaper out east. It definitely wouldn't hurt to price it out. You can see if you can find information about wells in your area to see the average depth. It's easy to look up in CO as they are permitted through the waterboard of the state so you can see the depth and general locations of all the wells.

We’re dealing with driveway issues. It’s not cheap!

My hubby has the idea to buy a place that has an old abandoned mobile home. It will already have electricity and water. You don't have to want the mobile home. We bought 40 acres in Kentucky that had a house and all the things.

It's nice to have two properties to look at and have time to contemplate. Properties around us aren't on the market long at all.

I'm so excited to watch the transformation. I didn't think this series would interest me bc I don't have a dog in this fight. However, I have really enjoyed it! And I'm so eager to learn how to build a pasture. Also, side note. I love how much yall enjoy each other. It's refreshing to see a happy, healthy, lively marriage.
