Man, seeing this makes me appreciate Zaphod, our singular Tennessee Fainting goat when I was a kid, all the more. He was super easy to take care of, had a very good temper, and was extremely sociable.

You guys are absolutely nuts... That many kids... No idea how to homestead or go off grid... Trying to give advice on youtube when you can't hack it yourselves... All of that... Go home, never do this stuff again, please.

Had to go back and watch the first video... holy moly, your production value has skyrocketed since then. But your voice and delivery were still spot on, and it's easy to tell that you had that growth potential.

one of the things I learned about Homesteading is that community has always been part of being successful.

when I lived off grid in Alaska for 4 months I would have never considered taking a bath! We used a bucket filled with warm water as a shower - with a shower spiget thing attached to the bucket.

Never grew up in the rural area, so I ain't used to seeing animals being slaughtered. Don't know why buy the feeling I need to desensitize myself keeps growing. Doom prepping my mind is the only words i can concoct. Anyway great video, with all the small details that one might not think to say like having the duck getting used of the feeling of the knife before use

It's all harder than people realize or can until they've lived it. You must commit to working constantly on the land fishing, hunting, gardening, etc. then in the home chores taking care of the livestock, cooking, cleaning, canning etc. Or go to the grocery store, use washer, dryer, dishwasher. I believe what most really want is living with less bills and stress

What?? I started with bees! I love them and they are SO easy and make SO much money! I only have to look at them once every two weeks and a majority of the year I dont have to even feed them. Nice bee jacket and no stings either.

I'm not tough enough, and I recognize it. Off grid would be fine for me if we're talking about a cabin with limited power that comes from solar or generator. If we're truly talking about washing clothes in the creek and hauling water for a bath.....no thanks.

What i think- You do not just take yourself, a wife,.and 6 kids to a place like Alaska and say "Here we are. Now we will survive". There are preps to make and honestly i mean nothing bad here, i saw some huge probs. One, the unpredictability of Alaska. Summer? It is never what they say. The heat/warmth/ cooking area should have been covered before leaving the grid. Generators & solar are the options for power/light/conmunications. All of this you should bring with you. Note: i give major props to channel "Will Survives"... a 21 yr old dude who left the grid to build his own cabin, plant a garden, attempt ducks & chickens to raise, in Western NM mountains. Will has taught me TONS of stuff you need to know and do. Thus whole survival business requires a certain aptitude. Basics must be covered in mind before any adventure begins! Especially if you care for and bring along, others. For sure, its all about learning by experience. I plan to go off grid myself soon... I know i will be ok, because i am still learning, and still striving for a better life. You are too. So Godspeed and i hope you do! 🎉
