Tatsuya Shindo got into Yakuza (the Japanese mafia) when he was 18, but now baptizes hundreds in the name of Jesus. From the age of 20, Shindo peddled stimulants in and around Tokyo for a gangster family under the nationwide one of the largest Yakuza syndicates in Japan. After several stints in jail, he decided to start offering something else entirely: the gospel. Let’s find out how he got there.

@@vanderwallstronghold8905 No, for man-made religions its all about works and feeling, with God such things are worthless. "For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?" - 1 Corinthians 4:7 For it is not by our relationship that we are saved but by faith. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1 No idols are to be made before God, no making ourselves look better before man for it is not man we seek to please but God, but all of man's religions do such things. "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." - Galatians 1:10 "Instead, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, not in order to please men but God, who examines our hearts." - 1 Thessalonians 2:4 We set ourselves before Christ as our savior not that we wish to be saved but knowing we are saved for we already know nothing could save us, no works and no morals, but only through Christ's sacrifice. It is in realizing we are worthless before God but that we have been redeemed out of love and mercy despite such. "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life." - 1 John 5:13 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6 "The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood." - John 7:18 "Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life," - Psalm 49:7 We are required to die for the sake of Christ. We are to die for Christ from inception of being born again, for we carry our cross and lay it down before Him. In this we submit before Christ. "Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." - John 12:25 "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." - Galatians 2:20 Religion does not promote this, its traditions speak nothing to Christ, to Truth, to Righteousness, to Authority, to Justice, to Mercy, and to Love all simultaneously. Only in Christ is the demand for such things capable. In all the others they create idols and worship this Earth, whether it be themselves, the creatures below, those on land, those of the sky, or even those that reside in the heavens. But with God there are no idols for they are despised, they are burned and destroyed, temples set to ruin. Man's religions set such things, but under God such things are now left to ruin.

Hitler in Disguise Religion? Definitely NOT. His change is more than religion but by grace and relationship he experienced in Jesus. Pointless? I don't know if you listened and understand carefully or atleast read the subtitles, he experienced change BEFORE having a purpose of helping others get their second chance to be part of the society. How can he help others if he couldn't help himself get his second chance BEFORE the change? He was imprisoned three times. You wouldn't be someone who knows better than the one who experienced change from being a Yakuza to becoming a Pastor.

I don't like to argue, especially on the internet, so I'll try to explain quickly and calmly in a polite manner. From MY perspective, religion is effectively pointless. I was only trying to say that even though I'm non-religious, I still think that what he's doing is awesome. I'm fine with others belonging to a certain faith. I apologize if my wording led you to think I'm some narrow-minded schmuck.

Hitler in Disguise Apologies accepted. I understand what you said and I respect your belief. But I just wanted to clarify that, to him, if you saw it as religion or whatever it is, it isn't pointless. He experienced change first because of knowing God before having a purpose of helping others. Meaning, he couldn't help others go a different path if he didn't experienced it himself. Apologies also if I went too strong on my first comment.

@Tony Tran well first of all.. what ever yakuza or gangsters or thugs they were all criminals just as simple as that we might judge them individually.. but when he said " Christianity change his life " in religious way and that makes him feels as a new person, i believe him why? he can differentiate with what he is now and how it effecting his life to compare with all those his criminal lifes experiences before.. lets say it all jokes.. he just trying to make money out from it.. but he had a simple and small church..? and a small congregates? yet he said his missions is to get people to know God specially those whom are former thugs or inmates or former criminals.. for me i do believes that God works in misterious ways.. and can touch peoples hearth and soul.. well.. may be we are quite close.. but a bit in opposite way.. i am not a religious person i am born as Christian raise as one but never been as a Christian.. say i was christian by name.. my parents never force me to read the Bible or do a Bible study or.. be in Christian schools or whatever connected into christian religious activities.. although they advise me before at child age to but never enforce them to me but did teached me about Jesus and His teachings and the Bible when i was a kid.. though i was young free and single.. due to that i did or had good life not poor.. and yet... at my mid age i do lots of sexs.. drugs.. joined a thug life with some fellas in the hood.. havent yet kills anyone coz dont have the chance to.. but did break someones bone.. did robbery.. carjacking.. several cases in overdoze.. extortions.. car chase with the police.. but never gets in jail or busted.. it all changed after my dad died.. hated him for being as a straight parents altough he never uses violence on me.. i was a runaway teenager.. and im considering as an outcast from the family altlhough later i know theyre out looking for me.. later on i met my younger bro says he already passed away along time ago and gave me the cemetary address.. then i decided to visit (not going home, bcoz this thug had a good place to hang and live) and i ve found tons of answers from my mom on how they my dad and mom tried hard to find me.. then realised how he did care of him thinking about me and what i may become and the where about of me.. went back.. still having good nasty life later something flicks my hearth up side down.. starts praying starts quietly attending the church mass and without any personal advise or guidance i read the Bible.. again after never touching it since at the age of 15, though for the first time again reading it and the first page i ve turn by randomly puts my eye on the verse that really happens to my life and what i ve been cried deep inside in all this whole damn time.. at the age 28 i ve came back to the house stays with my mom and with some of my younger bros and younger sister im the second son in the fam.. have a good clean life and feels like a new person.. got married and have a beautiful daughter got a decend job our own house not big or fancy but enough for the 3 of us.. now at the age of 40s im thankfull i still around and alive and got the chance to get more close to know God... i dont expect you to believe my story and im not trying to judge on how the lifes you ve been through is like or comparing them.. but i feel more lucky than you.. He did it to me.. because no one have forced me to do what ever in my life on how to believe.. some how He did touched me.. that HE gave me a chance of hope.. by that now i know what they meant by " God works in misterious ways ". but i hope and pray He do it to you too in some sorts of ways or in any ways..

I think they'd welcome us, even if we couldn't understand each other. Also, I can't remember his name, but a famous bible smuggler, who smuggled bibles into the Soviet Union, and Soviet Satellite countries had a technique for communicating with people he didn't understand. He'd have his bible open in the language he was comfortable with, and point to a bible verse. The other person who was also familiar with the scriptures, and knew of the need for more bibles behind the Iron curtain would follow to that verse, and they'd repeat this process for a while. God works in mysterious ways.

I cannot agree less with the fact that most of Jesus' followers are not those people who are doing well, but normal people who are thirsting and desiring for something they cannot see and what money cannot buy. I am glad this pastor is a changed man and is helping others to change along with the help from God. May he be greatly rewarded in heaven!

Wow, this is so cool! Thank you for this interview! It's always so inspiring to hear these kinds of testimonies, where people have found a purpose for their lives and thus changed for the better. ❤️ Also, so far I've visited Japan twice, and during both of those trips I stayed in Kawaguchi! I was surprised to see that the interview also took place there. 😊

@Talûn-karkû The Warchief I can't. I can recommend some wonderful books from former Atheist apologists if you're interested. I've read Harris and Hitchens but they didn't explain free will or address moral relativism so I didn't find their arguments compelling. Maybe you will, idk.
