I would agree that the maxilla were larger. Right away I noticed that just by doing proportions only that his chin was longer and wider and left ear lower. I agree that all portraiture involves practice but one thing that is super important is to walk away and give the eyes a break, take a photo side by side so that helps us avoid tunnel vision. I also find that in complete rendering of hyper realistic drawings that the skin texture is so very important. I don’t need many value lines just enough to get to the facial features and pause, take pictures and come back. If you have done this same method over and over then you need to trust that your eyes are telling you what to do now and that you don’t need directions to turn on the car. Have some confidence and recheck those measurements before you move along.😊

Your rendering skills are impressive. My unsolicited critique is that the lips should be wider. His maxilla looks narrower than it should which damages the likeness. It's strange you didn't capture it in the right piece, but you did capture the width of his maxilla in the left sketch.

That is typicall for pencil drawings. You get a more realistic feel when you add details. The problem though, even though this is very good, he looks a little bit older in the drawing. Wrinkles are more visible in the drawing, the distance betwen the mouth and the nose is larger in the drawing and the ear is positioned a little bit further down on the head in the drawing.

If you want some really good physical books to look for reference in I always recommend "Portraits" by Steve McCurry. Absolutely gorgeous, high contrast photography from all over the world. Also "Camera Work" by Alfred Stieglitz is a wonderful resource when solely wanting to focus on values and high contrast subject matter. If you want some more classic, 50's-60's era Hollywood glamour type photos then "Hollywood In Kodachrome" is amazing as a reference. Can't go wrong with any of these.

They did measure it, with the tip of the pencil. Those pencil aren't the normal pencil. Search how to sharp a pencil for artis,im sure u can see the difference. If u a beginner u can start at proko channel, he elobrate how mesuring work. This video is good for absorbing how the master craft their work.

It is a great rendering of a twin brother. I study faces for a living and I submit that the upper lip is more protruding than the lower lip. The original nose is not as bulky, and the right eye is bigger than it's original. I'd say it's great work, not a copy-cat and that indicates that it's not a robot I am watching drawing. That makes it a masterpiece.
