I recently switched from e4 in the QGA to e3 I think e3 might actually just be better, and in any case allows white a good game with much less prep

As far as I know, Thalia is now (or has been) one of his students. Possibly not in 2017, when this game was played.

6:05 If black plays the illegal 0-0-0, white should *not* claim the illegal move, but play Bxe6 double check, winning a pawn and the knight on g4 :p
