I’m 38, grew up a fan of Gibson. I have 6 now (3 LP, SG, 333 & Acoustic). Hands down, if ANYTHING says ‘Gibson is back’, it’s THIS video. The attitude of those interviewed in this episode scream GIBSON IS BACK!! They’ve acknowledged their past failures, corrected course and are rocketing Gibson back to the forefront!! #MakeGibsonGreatAgain Way to go!

Well, if they let Marc Agnesi do it, they would have to make him blond, long-haired and extremely bearded, or he woud be recognized too soon. If we talk concepts of reality tv, I would much rather see a contest for workers to come up with three completely new models of Gibson instruments, along the lines of the days when the Flying V, The Moderne and the Explorer came to be. I wouldn't limit the contest to guitars. In the times of MIDI and other possibilities, maybe something completely different could emerge. And if it doesn't make it to big success, just the competition and the process would make for great tv.

Love these videos! It’s awesome to see how the Gibson team builds guitars. I bought a new Les Paul Standard 50’s at the end of 2019. It’s the best Gibson I’ve played in yrs. I hear ya Larry, I bought a new Les Paul Standard 60's (Unburst) in Sep19 and it is an amazing guitar. I also have two LP Studios which are great guitars but always wanted a Standard and I'm glad I shelled out the coin for it. And, btw I am a real stickler for detail and went over the Standard with a magnifying glass and could not find one flaw! Totally awesome guitar.

Spraying paint with no mask? I assume fan/vents are taking some of the mist away but still?
@daveyroque1070
@daveyroque1070 4 жыл бұрын
I do it usually whenever I spray. It's usually ok if you are outside in the shade where the sun can't get your finish and if the wind isn't bad. You always wanna spray in the direction of the wind current, so you don't inhale the fumes. Masks aren't required. Honestly I usually either hand wipe or hand brush on some polyurethane. When you wipe it on you can get that thin nitrocellulose finish without being too thick like Epiphone guitars tend to do. When you brush you get that thick first coat and then after it dries, you sand lightly and wet the brush at the tip and brish in on the body enough the see the sanded surface get wet and build that up a couple times.

I called it from day 1. The industry was going NUTS about how brilliant the new Gibsons were, it was just a huge gravy train. The music press spout crap like they always do and the retailers were more than happy to agree for the sales..wjat did everyone think was gonna happen, that they would recruit hundreds of highly skilled luthiers overnight?? Please. Btw I'm a Gibson guy😂 seriously. I've 3, a trad, a collectors choice and an epiphone lq from Japan. Gibson are great but yeah, the takeover was hype central.

Claudio Trajtemberg Yea that struck me too. Clearly many of these folks just needed a job like a person going to work at a CVS or fast food restaurant. They have no personal interest in guitars as a hobby in anyway. I’m guessing that’s why the expanded training is taking place. It’s hard to work at a machine drilling side dots if u have no idea what they r or where or why they exist on a guitar neck.

I think Jeff Kiesel said it best .... whilst we are more than capable of putting out a shit tonne of guitars per year we will not do this as it substitutes quality, we are not interested in flooding the market but only insuring that every instrument made is to the highest quality for the customer. I think that is a great perspective . Gibson seem to have the opposite plan, to fill their factory with machinery that can pump out as many guitars as possible to flood the market and choke the last breath out of what was once a great guitar company 😞

After seeing how they work, now I understand better why are these small dings, dents and little imperfections even at high priced Gibsons. I think the way they treat to the parts should be better. More careful and gentle handling... maybe better stocking units for the finished products. softer surfaces. well... I dont have to give you ideas, or teach you anything you are Gibson you should do it better if you want to sell guitars. But for the last 6 years I am still searching a for Gibson standard to buy that is perfect and worth buying. I dont want to say that but it looks like I will continue to wait more.

@@palacityofficial in my experience, it's not that hard of a search. I meant that this guy probably doesn't go out to his local shops specifically looking for gibsons to buy all that often. I found that the bad guitars were few and far between in my area. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some stinkers on store shelves right now but out of the 10 or 15 that I played, I'd say two of them were actually bad. Of those two, one was an older model from the late Henry era. Now, I wasn't doing detailed inspections under a magnifying glass or anything but all the guitars played great and I didn't notice any cosmetic blemishes. Not to say there weren't any, just that I sure didn't notice them
