One thing that caught my attention is the the "pistol grip" works for both left handers and right. So many tool are inconvenient, uncomfortable and often times dangerous for left handed folks like me. A prime example is most jigsaws. They blow sawdust away from the blade...toward's the right, which means into my eyes. I know I'm supposed wear eye protection, but do you?

I've been a finish carpenter for over 35 years, you cannot possibly use just one brand, there are many tools that are better than others, for years Bosch jigsaws were and are still the best, Milwaukee Sawzall's are the best, Senco had the best pneumatic guns, don't put all your eggs in one basket. I have a little of everything, to me all of my Festool are under powered and way too expensive. Tools don't make the finish product, they help but don't make. Quit worrying about gear and just do the job.

Top kapex wing tip. You can use one of the extendable rulers to level the wing to the saw. You don’t need a spirit level. Just take one of the extendable rules fully out and pop it back in when you’re done.

My kapex is over 12 years old. It still cuts beautifully. I do have a 12" Dewalt, but i haven't used it for a very long time. The hold down clamp is something I use quite often. Also, the laser is awesome, you can dial it in so nice. I cried every time I spent the money on a Festool Tool, But I smile every time I use them. They seem to last for ever. The dust collection when sanding is probably the biggest thing I like about Festool.

The cordless kapex is also unreal. Have both saws now, the cordless will handle 90% of your moulding work and the corded saw is really needed when we are doing crown. Both saw are dope, you’ll have both before you know it. The wings make the saw though, they set up so quickly and give you great functionality with the stops. Congrats, 15+ years as a carpenter before switching to festool and I’d never go back

Most companies make a good product. And there are a few who make a great product. And when it comes to tools you get what you pay for, if you can afford it,lol. I too had a hard time with Festools cost, however after other brands broke down or just did not give me the butter cut I switched! You may pay up front, but I never worry about the quality any more and todate have never had a tool go out of spec. For cabinet making I use my MFT3 for assembly, however I have moved to the Dashboard bench to do my sheet good cutting, whilst using all of my festool tools. I find it works better with my workflow and gives me the capability to cut down full 4X8 sheets with one setup. It is also portable! The KAPEX does put off some dust, however it is minor and easy to clean up when sawing inside a home.

Been adding more festool myself. I'm on the Metabo HPT platform now expanding their products. Especially the 10 inch miter that I know most people wouldn't like. But just as you stated there are some things that you benefit. For me one thing I really like is the hybrid feature, that works better than the dewalt one. Front adjustable controls and things like that. What I'm wanting is better intgration with dust control, and those integrations with the wings like that because man what a pain. So I'm glad you did a quick overview because it's looking like if I do get to the point of changing, i may go that route. Only thing for me is that saw stand is big, and I don't have space for a big stand like that on the center of the miter saw, maybe a collapsible stand would be great. additionally, what willyou be doing with that big stand that you had before?

I use DeWalt in my industrial electrician trade. I have tried the Milwaukee because all the hype they push at electricians. For me and my experience the Milwaukee does not tolerate the abuse and the grueling nature of the industrial environment. I wore them out often in months, and even in weeks. The batteries needed to be charged a lot. It was funny because I thought if Milwaukee is the best I never want anything to do with the others. Then I got a DeWalt kit for Christmas. I gave it a try. Wow. Hands down the DeWalt is my go to in the industrial environment now. All the crap people told me about the Milwaukee was just that; crap. I packed up what was left of my Milwaukee stuff at work and brought it all home. That was eight years ago. The DeWalts I bought after that drill kit and that drill kit are still being used. I have not replaced one of them. I still have the Milwaukees I brought home. The Milwaukees make good wood working homeowner type tools. They feel good in me hands; ergonomically satisfying. None of that makes me money though. DeWalt all the way for grueling industrial work environments; the batteries last for years and I have not replaced a cordless tool in over 8 years. Talk feces all you want. I know what I know and I don’t buy crap because people tell me I should. I am glad that I got that drill driver kit and I am stupid happy with it yet today. And you should have seen me face when I got that DeWalt stuff the first time. I was all about, yeah, thank you, while I wondered how to re-gift it. Glad I kept it. 😊

Nice video, Richard~! I too have started drifting over to the "lime green" side after 30+ years as a woodworking, having said that I'd never do it. I kept hearing so much about how much better the sanding experience is with Festool. After seeing a LOT of demos at local stores and viewing dozens of others' experiences on KZfaq (and doing a lot of soul searching), I picked up their ETS 125 (5") random orbital sander and CT36 dust extractor. Such a difference~!! That was last Christmas. About a month ago, I took another plunge and picked up the DF 500 Domino. Know anyone looking for a slightly used biscuit joiner?? LOL I don't know what's next, but I'd like a track saw and I'm seesawing between Kreg ($$) and Festool ($$$$). And then, there's my 12-year old Dewalt compound (non-sliding) miter saw. You're right, it's a total rabbit hole~!! Looking forward to more video from you using the Kapex.

I was shocked that it took this long for DeWalt, Milwaukee, or Makita to try to stop you from selling those shirts. When I first started watching your videos I saw the DeWakee and thought, This guy has balls. Trade Mark and Branding laws are so critical and even if the company cannot win in court a multimillion-dollar company can run you through the legal process and bankrupt you in a blink of an eye. It is a good choice to get out of the business of selling that stuff. In a Court of Law, it is not always the court's decision that causes a person to lose it is the cost of the ongoing process. However, I do like the concept of the logo you created because many of us are not brand loyal with all of our tools. I own no Milwaukee, my wife is a Lowes Manager, I am Big Blue brand loyal. Good luck with the Team Green upgrades I am going through the same process currently.

They really work hard to engineer these tools with maximum convenience and usability. I'm always impressed with festool and I get the hype now.

Be careful on copyright and trademark infringment and slander issues the fact that you received a cease and desist letter says in capital letters you are on their radar, get advice from your counsel ASAP especially about continuing to sell or give away materials that you have in inventory that could be found to infringe. Just the legal costs for this type of litigation can drive even medium sized companies that have corporate limits to what can be taken into insolvency if you are not a corporation ask your advisers if you should incorporate best wishes hope this goes away. I have been a dewalt guy for the past 20 years. Over these past few years I have noticed the quality of their product diminishing. As tools wear out I am replacing them with Festool.

I remember watching a video of yours three years ago titled "DeWalt guy tries Festool for the first time (not good)". I refrained from commenting on it at the time because you just didn't have enough time to understand and appreciate Festool tools. Damn, you have come a long way since then. 😎 I'm a hobbyist woodworker with a fairly decent skill set and I really enjoy my Festool tools. I just bought a Castle 110 like the first Castle pocket hole cutter you bought. I drove over to Petaluma and picked it up at Castle USA. They are just the best people there. 👍 All the Best, Chuck.

Did you have to remove the link from the description? I’ve always really liked YOUR play on the two logos but I have a tight fist. I’d like one of the hoodies at least since they won’t be available anymore. Tell me where to go/what to do.

I suspect, Festool's approach is probably as old as the world. Use only quality materials, process them with high precision - and any conventional design will work much better and much longer than cheaper "alternatives". I've seen countless products going into garbage simply because some part was made of cheap crap and broke.

Pistol grip could be some minor inconvenience, but I got used to it no problem. It has one real advantage, it is ambidextrous. My girlfriend is a lefty and it's much easier for her to use it. I'm not a wood worker, but I'm building a house and decided to make furniture myself. I liked Festool, but I thought I can't justify the price. I finally bought a track saw, sander and dust extractor. Suddenly, everything was a bit easer and much cleaner. I also liked the Domino, but, again, the price. My friend has it and I borrowed it for a few days. I went and bought one. I'm not even half way done, but it already paid itself, it saved me a bunch of time. My miter saw is on it's last legs and, fortunately, the friend has a Kapex, too, so I was able to test it for a good week and I'm going to get one next week. Pricy? Yes. Worth it? For a regular DIY-er probably no, but if you have a big project, I would say, yes.
