Finished R5-D4 Astromech Droid!

My R5-D4 Astromech Droid is done! It took me just over a year to finish this build.
Big thanks to Mr. Baddeley for the 3D designs I used for my dome, gripper arm, interface arm, and feet models. And thanks to Douglas Bickert for the zapper inspiration!
Body is a wooden "Senna" style frame and legs with aluminum skins. Dome is entirely 3D printed. Feet, skirt and the majority of the bits & greeblies are resin and/or fiberglass casts from 3D prints and other mediums.

R5-D4 has always been my favorite astromech. I’m so glad that Jon Favereau allowed him to shine in the Mandalorian series. You have done an amazing job with your build. Thank you so much for sharing.

When I was a kid playing with the figures, it was always Greedo, Hammerhead, and Snaggletooth with their trusty astromech R5-D4. Seriously my favorite Droid. I was super happy to see him in Mando! Incredible work here, this is Insanely awesome!!!

I want one, i'd love to see how possible it would be to set it up so it would follow the remote at a distance so you would have your own personal droid follow you around at con.

I have zero building skills and thus I come before you and offer my soul as payment to have it. :D This is amazing. I am one of those people that loves obscure characters - and R5 is one of the major ones that I've always loved! (I always use him in Star Wars RPGs, stories, etc) :-) Honest to gods, this is amazing work....!

Thanks! I'm using strong Neodymium Magnets - These are my favorites: www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D82-N52 - For the super strong stuff (holding on the rear door, etc) www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D44 - For the smaller stuff (Battery Boxes, Utility Arms) www.kjmagnetics.com/search-pn.asp?pg=1&stext=BX021 - To keep all the panels shut (and the motivator panel in!)

If you could make a painting (or hole) (like those holes that the Astromechs use to hack into ships, cargo, and other droids) that can fit the interference arm, but I think this’ll take a lot of time and work for the unit to actually hack into stuff and turn off or turn on the lights.

Not bad, not too bad at all. If I had the skills to build replica astromech droids, I would build my very own replica of R5-D4 down to the last detail. I'm glad that R5-D4 had been brought back for The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. I even got the R5-D4 action that was made for the Star Wars Black Series released from Hasbro.
