Skrama got it‘s new wooden handle out of curly birch wood. Dyed and oiled. Only a huge leather sheath needs to be done anymore! I can tell, tang of this blade was awfully long to get hidden inside wood and fitted almost perfectly there! 😅

Looks very nice. but i think i prefer the rubber grip for its shock absorbing qualities.

Yeah. The new handle is awesome, but it is a downgrade on the original ergonomics. Rubber is awesome. Still, this looks a lot nicer than the original.

That looks incredible. The Skrama is IMO the ultimate do all blade. It’s plain no frills utilitarian looks are part of its charm I guess. But I love it so much I find myself wishing I could class it up/trick it out just a bit. A wooden handle like the one you made would be perfect. Last year they released an anniversary edition in stainless with a curly birch handle… for $350! Ugh, I’ll prolly wind up buying it someday 🤦‍♂️. I’d rather just have a wooden handle on the original.

Yes it is different, but I didn’t have the tools to make a hole in the wood for the tang, so I decided to cut the wood in half, milled it, and epoxied everything together again (lot of work, took me 2 days..). I would send you a picture, but I don’t know how..
@thetopicala
@thetopicala Жыл бұрын
@@masterp6062 it would be very challenging to drill (a hole for tang) such a long way and using one ling drill bit. My hint to you and others is that use normal length drill bit and drill it from both ends of the wood block and finally finish the hole with mini saws (from both ends). 👍🏻

Attaching wood block into Skrama tang and make it carefully is hours of work, way longer than regular puukko rat tail tang and wood block. Fitting it in the front and end without loose… you can imagine.
