thanks Sean, i pretty much do all the same steps in my editing except the B/W step and i like how that works and i will add it in on my next portrait edit!! always nice to learn something new, especially when it brings a bit more punch to the contrast & overall image. looking forward to your B/W edit recipe vid, cheers!

Thanks man! I was a bit overwhelmed near the end but the first 2 layers really helped me. After that I missed the knowledge to put the new knowledge it in perspective. But I appreciate being shown the space like this so I could explore it further myself. I came in clean without much prior knowledge and with basic photoshop skills. Thank you for your generous sharing of knowledge and your way of articulating things. Also I entered your code at at least one squarespace site I built :-)

Fantastic video. I have lived in Lightroom and never ventured in Paintshop except when I needed some tricky cloning. But this has convinced me that I need to put in the time and effort to get the reward of a set of far more powerful tools and flexibility in using them. Thanks for making videos like this, they really do help.

Hey Sean - that really is subtle but effective. The last before and after makes it so evident. Keen on knowing any change in Color grading and finishing approach you have evolved into with your video editing. ESP after moving to resolve.

I love this. I really appreciate you showing work on someone with a darker complexion as well, it can be hard to find examples with subjects who have darker skin tones.

I have a few images that I just couldn't take to the next level - I was frustrated and felt like I had hit a wall. Been doing this stuff for years. Never used luminosity curves or B&W soft lights. I will definitely give them a try next time

If you want a good layer mask for the sharpening layer maybe you can do this instead of painting? 1. In the Channels Pallette chose the channel with the best contrast 2. In Image > Calculations dialogue make sure that both Source 1 & 2 reads: Layer = Background Channel = Green Blending Mode = Overlay Select Result (at bottom of dialogue box) to “Build Selection” Just a Tip! Super good video! 👍👌

Thanks a lot for the entire series - it's been a great guide and a good refresher. What do you see as an advantage over unsharp-mask sharpening vs for example high-pass filter? The unsharp mask seems much more subtle to me, so I was wondering if that's something you've been going for?

I'm not sure what to think about image manipulation. I definitely don't do it in my street photography, as I want to have my photos as genuine as possible. They may not look as prettty and have a wow factor as others, but at least they are what I saw in real life.
