I worked overnight security at a nice hotel in Seattle. Pink was staying there and arrived late at night. At that point in the evening, we don't have a bellstaff so Security did check-ins. I had to take her bags up to her room. When I got there, I knocked on the door and she opened it. She looked at the bags and said, "Those aren't mine? Where are my bags?" I didn't understand how that mix-up could have happened. Maybe these were her staff's in a different room? But they hadn't requested bell service. They brought up their own. I must have looked quite panicked. I started to say how sorry I was and Pink just started laughing and said, "I'm just fucking with you. Put them right over there." She tipped me $20 for the 4 bags I'd brought up, asked me how my night was going and thanked me on my way out. She was really cool.

Oh, come on, Seven Nation Army was big because it's good. Not everyone can come up with a riff that memorable. I don't care if it's commercialized or not, a good song is a good song. And their Elephant album is 10/10.

I used to record music videos on VHS as a teen, and I caught Dirrty one time, cant tell you how many times I've paused, rewound, and finally found the spot, and then j4€ked it shamelessly to stills of CA, complete with streaks across the screen and everything. It doesn't get more 2000's than the VHS spanking experience! EDIT: and then 20 seconds later you accidentally pause at the moneyshot, brilliant!

VHS jerking is more an 80s/90s thing. By the 00s, internet 'pron' was readily available for the masses. But damn, in those late century decades, VHS (or the randomly found Playboy) was all you had access to. I remember stories of rental stores needing to replace Fast Times VHS religiously as that Phoebe Cates scene would wear out the tape.

I loved simple plan at age 12. I basically taught myself drums because their drums were a good starting point for a young drummer. Was obsessed with blink but could never play the legendary Travis barkers drum parts as a beginner so simple plan and good charlotte made me into a “drummer” who then eventually could play blink 182 songs. Thank you for that simple plan. Playing drums is so fun and a great way to get out both aggression and creativity while feeling like a badass. So glad I picked that up. I encourage anyone who wants to try. Also, shout out to all the cool parents who endured their horrible kids obnoxiously loud drums because they are awesome and supportive and apologies to my childhood neighbors.

7 Nation Army just gets me pumped, man. I'm not a huge White Stripes fan, either, but they had a few songs I really enjoyed. Mike Jones was ok, I just got SO annoyed hearing him say his name all the time. A lot of rappers did it, especially then, though. Aside from that he actually had some good stuff. There was some surprising hip hop songs from that era that aged pretty well. Some songs I actually like more now than I did then. Like "So What" by Ciara ft. Field Mob. The lyrics were actually pretty smooth and their flow were clean, too.

Dude the whole reason people wore do-rags was to sleep in them. "DO"--rag, as in hair-"DO." It was to maintain the hair style, particularly the waves hairstyle, while the person was sleeping as to not ruin the style. Then it worked its way from the home out into the streets. Which was funny when white guys like Eminem, wore them because it wasn't for white hair.

I remember every frame from the Dirrty music video but not a single note of the song. Seven Nation Army becoming a sports anthem was a bit more organic. It began with soccer chants invented by fan groups, but then it travelled to North American sports where they play things over the loudspeakers to get the fans into it.

A genuine reason to love West Virginia...back in the 90's, I traveled the country most of the year bowling for cash in tournaments, gambling, etc. We occasionally would partake in some female strippage clubbing...anyway, we hit this kinda dive bar/strip club kind of in the middle of nowhere WV, cheap beer, laundromat queens, but then we looked up at the main stage to catch Gemini, and she was dancing naked...while breast feeding her baby! I think I either gave her two fifties or a hundred dollar bill. We all did.Greatest thing ever...true story....

Pierre is such a nice guy but boy did I find these guys way too g-rated for me. Same for Something Corporate and the Starting Line. I was in my 20s during this time. I did a few Warped dates in 2001 and he happened to be behind me in line at the after show BBQ (grillmastered by El Hefe!) and for no reason literally tapped me in the shoulder and introduced himself....I had no idea who he was until I saw him on TV what must have been months later. Last time I saw them was at the Epcot food and wine festival and they actually put on a really great set for the circumstances. Pierre did a couple of songs behind the drum kit too I was impressed. I had no idea he came from Reset until it was mentioned in one of your older videos if I remember correctly.

Lol whale tail. I was in high school from 2000-2004, “whale tail” was the greatest thing ever. In my high school I was friends with the metalheads and punks. Black metal and death metal were the big things, and for punk it was bands like the Misfits and Rancid. Pop punk was for sellouts and Emo really hadn’t quite hit yet but we thought it was super lame. I liked Industrial, goth rock, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Cradle of Filth, bands like that. But Slipknot was also big, Linkin Park but that was kinda nu-metal which I’d moved on from.

Remember when there was that movie about guitar playing with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White, ... and everyone's take away was "Why is The Edge in this movie!?". When the real question should have been "Why is Jack White in this film!?". Jimmy Page and The Edge are two of the most influential guitarists who are still alive (along with Slash, Gilmore and Clapton) who have enough Hits to fill multiple "Best Of" compilations, ... whereas Jack White has what three songs that were popular for two or three years max! People clown on The Edge all of the time but anyone who has ever tried to accurately play his stuff will tell you that it's not about finger dexterity or virtuoso playing, it's about very intricate and precise timing and interacting with the multiple delays at the same time, it's way harder to do than you'd expect and that's what makes him instantly recognizable as a guitarist. Jimmy Page is Jimmy Page. Whereas Jack White is such a generic guitar player he could be replaced with the guy from Jet or Franz Ferdinand, and most people wouldn't notice. I'll never understand the appeal of the White Stripes or Jack White, it just feels like a guy doing his best Johnny Depp impression while sniffing his own farts.

The White Stripes/Jack White are incredibly overrated. Because all the music critics gave him the Saviors approval for the music industry in 2001, he just releases the most awful and abrasive sounding music and people just accept it even though they know it sounds awful. He could have a song composed of sounds from him farting on his guitar and people would think it is brilliant.

Even close to me, their are the ancient remanence of payphones. In the form of the payphone box still strangely existing, even after the actual phone itself has been long gone. But they act as a reminder of what once was. Much like how people in the early middle ages gazed in astonishment to what a previous generation was able to accomplish. But knowing this superior era is now long gone, and people of this time are only left with the few relics still remaining.

Pay phones. Lmao I saw one in Mexico recently, but the receiver was broken in half and the wires were coming out. I’m going to always wonder what the last conversation was on that phone.

I saw them about a month ago with The Offspring and Sum 41. They put On a really good show and I wasn’t really into them back in the day. They had me converted a bit and they seem like really good dudes. Made me feel bad for hating on them and a couple of kids in my class for liking them back in middle school.

Oh gawd the dumb things we say to girls at that age. I called the friend of my mega crush "fat". Yeah, she hated me after that, rightfully so.

The criticism of Meg White's drumming was just the OG incel kneejerk reaction to all the kind of entry level feminist patronisers going 'OMG LOOK AT THIS! IT'S A GIRL... BUT SHE'S PLAYING THE DRUMS!!!' and people massively overrating her as a drummer as a result when really she just kind of... did her job as a drummer. She wasn't some revolution to the art of drumming because it's impossible to be that in a band with 'The' in the name, she was good at her job and female which made her an icon and made incels very upset

"Simple plan were the last to pop off in the pop punk scene, 2002-2003." That was 1996-1997 in Canada man. Exchange rates matter, even in music.

I fell out of love with Seven Nation Army. Yes the riff is easily memorable, but it's so incredibly basic. The song as a whole sinks into the background so way too easily. I can only assume it's the reason why this is the only song from the White Stripes that the radio plays.

We had a pay phone in our town up until about 4 years ago, but there is still a pay phone at Easton in Columbus OH. It’s in the British style with the red booth

Those plastic straps were the worst. They did dig in, and broke so quickly.
