Yeah, you're not wrong. Coming from the motocross/motorsports side of alternative myself, I can tell you that monster trucks are even more redneck and white trash than mudders (people who drive their Jeeps, Land Cruisers, and Broncos in mud pits) and NASCAR (acronym so it gets put in all caps). It's the sport meant for the "redneck that never grew out of their little kid phase" crowd. Monster Jam is a fun event to bring your kids to though.

Most of the so called 'Celebrity Metalheads' are people who casually enjoy some Metal - not DIE-HARD fans. BUT - that's okay. Listening to Metal shouldn't be an ALL OR NOTHING thing. People might complain about "Metal Tourists" but hey - tourism contributes to every economy! Just because I choose to stay for life doesn't mean I have to resent people who stay for a few weeks and enjoy the scenery while they're here.

To be fair to Jim Carey, back in 1991 when that interview happened the term Death Metal was new. Thrash was already established since 1983. Easy to make that mistake back then. BTW didn't know about that Megadeth guy spraying Mega-Juice on camera. Of course i had to see it, now i will never unsee it.

The funny thing about that Ace Ventura movie: The Cannibal Corpse album which features Hammer Smashed Face was banned in Germany at the time the movie came out. But you could see the band playing the song in the movie.

I saw them live (in germany) when their album "Vile" just came out (in 1996 which I guess might even have been my first live concert) and they were the headliners and played with Impaled Nazarene (the band I was most interested to see live), Asphyx, Grave, Immolation and Rotting Christ . Since many of their songs were indeed banned and couldn't even played live they chose to just perform kinda incognito using that current album title as band name and just played all their songs (even the banned ones) just without announcing the titles, since the authorities couldn't distinguish one song from another anyway.

Hi Finn, Indonesian here... To my knowledge as a metal head, Jokowi once gave a speech at one of the metal festivals in my country "Rock in Solo 2011" when he was still serving as mayor of Solo. FYI: In that time the headliners of the festival were Death Angel and Kataklsym. Now moving forward to 2013, when Jokowi was serving as governor of Jakarta, he once got a bass guitar from Rob Trujillo. In 2014 during his campaign as Indonesia's presidential candidate, he was interviewed some journalist And he said that he became a fan of Metallica by the time he was in high school. Ok, now the "sus" moment. Based on school data, Jokowi attended high school in 1977-1980. How the hell could he be a fan of a band that at that time was not yet formed even thrash metal as a genre does not yet exist. FYI : Thrash metal entered Indonesia around the late 1980s.

I love how, on the one hand, we're having a go at gatekeepers and, on the other hand, defining what counts as being "in" any given genre and what is just "entry level." It occurs to me that, as a famous person, there's no point in admitting to liking relatively niche bands, as no one will know what that means, whereas mentioning a more well-known band (as opposed to actually mainstream) that is in a given genre (or recognisably adjacent) will get some cut-through (and maybe encourage some people to listen to the bands that might not otherwise).

For that time period(before all of the sub genres) I'm pretty sure the term 'thrash metal' was way better to use than just 'metal' as 'metal' included bands like Poison and Kiss and the likes, so to me Jim Carrey was more correct than not...this was also a time when the term 'death metal' was in its infancy.

I tried watching the first episode of GOT a few times and wasn't into it also. Everyone was telling me I had to watch and read the books - people I trust - but I just didn't enjoy it. At one point I decided to at least give it the first season, and... well I've seen the whole show and read the book series through a couple times by now. It's great. Especially the books. And heavy music level fandom.

Speaking of Cannibal Corpse in Ave Ventura Pet Detective. The band initially declined the offer to appear in the film because they were scheduled for a European tour. But Jim Carrey wanted them in the movie so much that he convinced the director to delay filming with them for a few weeks until they got back from Europe. There’s even some deleted footage of Jim on stage with the band headbanging and even grabbing the mic and making those same growly roaring noises into it. 😆😆😆. It’s a shame they deleted that footage.

Yes, Nicolas Cage has been in alot of bad movies, but he's also been in alot of fantastic movies, a couple are some of my all time favorites. If you haven't seen Mandy you should, it's basically a progressive metal music video, revenge story. He's also a great actor, he just makes alotbof odd acting decisions 😂

@@klaushoschi2143I think it’s crazy how he can adjust his acting ability depending on what movie he’s doing. If you watch The Wicker Man you’d think he’s an awful actor, but then you watch Leaving Las Vegas and you realize he’s really good
