Loved the Black dudes reactions. He’s spot on. Say what you will about Slipknot or Corey Taylor, the dude is a poet and an erudite with his lyrics. He is actually quite well read and tries to incorporate intellectually stimulating and existential topics into his lyrics. He got a lot of criticism for his over usage of expletives on the first two albums and then incorporated more sophistication and depth into his lyrics in his musical pursuits since.

From what I know based on what former reactors have said, the videos aren't technically "scripted", but the people who run the show are selective about which reactors they choose for each video and which reactions they end up using, so it's likely that they tried to pick kids who they knew would talk crap about slipknot and then threw in Jaxon as the token person who actually likes it.

With all the semi-recent Pop Punk and Shoegaze stuff creeping in, I feel like Rock will be creeping back into playlists in a few years. Already hear hybrid stuff where new Rock bands are incorporating Rap and 808's into the mix (and it doesn't sound like Nu Metal), so I feel like whatever Rock will come back as, it will be something relatively new. Just like 00's Prog Rock and Nu Metal were compared to the 90's, and the 90's to the 80's, and etc etc etc. And whatever it'll be, will be hated by people really into Slipknot of course.

@ghost mall I mean, it's technically still around. But from the mainstream? It definitely went away for the last decade+ in favor of EDM, and then Hiphop. The closest thing you'll see this gen talk about Rock is the Pop Punk spearheaded by Travis Barker and anime/video game openers I'm pretty sure that it'll be the next big thing, it's always waves, kids getting bored of what their older siblings and parents listened to ten years beforehand, etc. Long as the music's good in general, bring on whatever lol

@@hectorvegasduque2234 I'm not trying to be a dick or mock their sexuality being as I'm bi and and have multiple gay friends. But it seems like that with the later end of Gen Z and the generation after them, this is really how they are and that they do get weirded out pretty good with stuff like this. Which is both funny, sad and fairly concerning. Sure not all are, because that'd be an absolutely stupid assessment. But many really are effeminate and can't handle certain topics or darker imagery or heavier music that isn't hip hop. And I say this as someone who has gay friends, and they still remember stuff like slipknot, old Bring Me The Horizon and other bands like that. And have 0 issue listening to it still. Hell, some of them still listen to it. Case in point, one of my friends is pretty effeminate in both appearance and mannerisms, but is heavily into hardcore punk, heavy metal and just darker imagery in general. Millennials and early gen Z( both gay and straight) by I'm large seem to be fine with heavy metal and darker imagery, while Late Gen Z and younger seem to have a definite aversion to it completely.

I don't understand how people get mad about this stuff. Why would people need validation in their taste of music from children? It's not like there haven't been people saying this same stuff for decades. People need to learn to take a joke and laugh at themselves once in awhile too. Metal is inherently silly and over the top. A lot of metal fans get mad when bands they like get popular anyway. Why would they get upset when the normies "don't get it". People are dumb.

Nice to see some comments here with common sense! Metalheads saying that *metal* can be “too much“ at times (especially the heavier stuff…) and that there are other music genres out there. Also that *harsh vocals* and *shouting* isn’t pleasant to the ear generally speaking and it’s understandable that *metal* isn’t for everyone and not the most popular genre. I totally agree with those statements. 💯 Unfortunately there are also some people who are biased and think that metal is the only genre that matters… Ridiculous!
