Whew, did she ever. Every single album somehow framed perfectly the era my life was in. I know people always say that this or that artist or song is "their jam"... But often we do mental gymnastics to make it fit US because we love it and want it to sooo bad. Fiona, however. FIONA. It uncanny, how shes nailed every big epoch in my life.

At least he let Fiona answer to everything as she wanted to. No absurd comments, no bad jokes... Fiona was the artist here, not the interviewer. She could express free and openly. Interesting interview.

Yes, to his credit, the main thing is he stays out of your way, doesn't step on your words, and gives your thoughts room to breathe. The end result is a revealing interview and that's all that counts.

What I have learnt from Fiona is to give time to a creative process and that gives such a big relief. I remember when she sings about doing nothing and how she thinks that is not wasting time... That is so beautiful... We need that time and she is giving that to us through her songs. Thanks Fiona for that.

I love what she said at the end about singing in the mirror after walking home with a rhythm in her head. Reminds me of her newest album "I used to walk down the streets on my way to school grinding my teeth to a rhythm invisible..."

Please, give this guy a break. He' s trying to give her enough room so she can answer honestly and yet move the interview along so his producers have something to work with. Fiona's so honest and intelligent- so thoughtful he's trying not to step on her toes or put words into her mouth, which is impossible, of course, but he's still gleaming where she's going with her answers. It's much easier to interview a fake famous person than someone as unpretentious as she is.

She's complex and sensitive and raw, and real. She's about the most real person I can imagine. Her past had such tragedy I can't look at her without remembering it, and I wonder in her heart of hearts how she ever dealt with it, put it away and went on. I wish I could talk to her for just a few hours person to person. because she's more in touch with the creative process than most musicians will ever be because it's part of her. I guess YT vids like this are the closest I'll ever get to that.

She is so beautifully bashfully confident. The honesty she has with her emotional self is something I strive to emulate. It's as if she has direct lines from her heart to her integrity, honesty, love, rage, compassion, uncertainty, confidence and unabashed truth which in turn have lines directly to her voice. If I imagined talent, creative thought and inspired wordplay as a fey creature running barefoot in the woods smiling shyly but looking through you with an intense all-knowing gaze then it would be Fiona Apple.

Beautiful essence. I know I would have mentally broke if not for Fiona's music. I've survived a serial rapist, 2 domestic violence relationships, and being molested as a child. I write my own songs and heal with them just like she does. Fiona has been a rock for so many woman, and I wish her all the best in life. I pray she can be strong enough to share her perspectives on these crazy times we're all living in. I completely understand if she's just too turned off by all this social media stuff. Love you always Fiona, what content there is of you here, is satisfying enough.

Sacha Frere-Jones is a writer and music critic of the first order. If you can cope with his extreme deadpan - the grassy knoll gag - you'll notice the questions were intelligent, he'd done his background and he created a space where she was free to speak. If you're interested in what an artist has to say this is way more informative than anything you'll get out of the talk shows.

They watch ET religiously. And stand outside the musicians window when given a chance. They want to know if they are divorced, married, have perfect children, their plastic surgery, their sex life, what they drink and eat and when, etc.....and then shout it to the top of the mountain that they "heard it first". Lol. Heard what first ....I always ask ....ya know that so and so ...had sex with so and so and he said a swear word and wears green pants ...blah blah .. Gosh. Lame. Reality shows with actors and musicians. Lame. Popular. But lame. Let the music play. Listen. And relax. I literally want to know nothing about their hygiene. I do like hearing their philosophy and ideas about the music they sing. That makes sense to me. But even then. It's ok for me just to play the music...and not even know the band members or where they are from etc.

Every guy on here wants to marry Fiona....actually hell every woman on here probably does too...and you can't blame them. She's smart, sexy but most of all her music and voice puts her in same categories as the greats of her generation...actually she's right there along with Cobain...she just hit the scene in that weird spot right after his death and right before N Sync and Backstreet. Her music was never the most commercial. Its almost like she was born a decade too late or a decade too early but she's hit her stride now and we are proud!
