Fantastic, the sound of those wapiti bulls going off is awesome. It sure is testing country and even finding a campsite is bloody hard like you said! Looking forward to part 2!

Thanks for that brings back memories been in McDonald’s/trophy burn George a few times it’s a magical place I noticed you used campfires- it’s the worst thing you can do as the smoke scents the whole valley out big mature bulls will go to ground you will never see them you gotta do everything you can to not let them know you are there One contact is all you get with a good bull you won’t see him again you had marvelous weather!!

Interesting comments about a fire, makes perfect sense what you are saying and it was more to keep the saddles away than anything! ( you do wonder how the old boys like Herrick etc who could only cook on an open fire got on?)

Epic! Nice filming and what great weather you struck, could not imagine how hard that would be in a wet stormy spell up McDonald creek

Im not sure how anyone would handle it in a real storm! Very few camping spots to be honest unless you made it to the Big slip day one

Thank you Crusty Demons . You's fellas look as though you lost some weight. Also thank you for the Maple review (comments). 62 and thinking about doing some TeUreweras tramping but I worked it out will need $1000.00 to set up go0d enough kit and that jetboil was / is one of my stumbling points.

Your black woolen bush shirt is called a lambie. Culler's loved them. I live in merino and my lambie

Thanks, Denley, for the life of me, I don't understand why more hunters aren't wearing them, they keep you warm, don't stink, and are hard wearing

@Backridge Butcher Time To Hunt I wore mine during a Sika Foundation trapping resetting mission, was wet as I had a merino base layer, my lambie and Swazi Torrent coat, covered 14ks when back at the vehicle i was amazed that the lambie still felt dry the base merino was damp but i wasn't at all cold. The lanbie's are brilliant .

The long coarse wool singlet is a Jackie Howe named after the Aussie shearer John Robert Howe and designed to keep your back warm while bending over during shearing.

it’s the old kiwi hunter cliche, but it’s on the bucket list. Yes your correct mate, opossum/Marino wool are the best socks out there, wear them at work everyday and they last for years. I’m lucky in that my old lady owns a shop so I get them half price through her supplier! Lucky to get down there! why not chopper to tops first mate?
