Nailed it bro. This review solidified my purchase. I just cancelled my order for the niche duo and replaced it for this. You helped me realize my needs. I’m a coffee “hobbyist” but I’m not geeked out to the extreme (I’m running a Profitec 600 Pro) - that is, sometimes I like espresso, sometimes pour-over. My machine can do both with my flow control. So I want a grinder to run one bag until it’s done in either grind, and I like to fill up my Porto filter and skip the dosing cup and the ring and get straight to work. Single dose grinders are for those who switch roasts out per cup. Cool. Not me. Good job.

Amazing Grinder!! Absolute game changer. I just got it 3 days ago. Switched from the Eureka Zero, to this Allground. I can't believe what a difference it makes. The only thing that really frustrated me, was that there is the Allground basic, and then there is the Allground Sense. The sense has the scale built into it. I didn't know that, and none of the website that sell this machine, makes that very clear. I wanted the one with the scale. The one with the scale is not featured in this video. And yes, they do have a single dose version now. BUT!! That collar adjustment is completely different. It has much more micro adjustments in millimeters.

It’s a fantastic grinder. This video is on my list but to help you out in the mean time, conical grinders like the zero tend to give thicker, syrupy body, sometimes at the expense of clarity or specific flavour notes in the coffee. Flat burrs like the fiorenzato generally tend to give more clarity of flavour notes but sometimes at the expense of thickness and body. This is a generalization for sure but in comparison between those two grinders I would say the generalization applies. I saw Niche also released a flat burr grinder yesterday which would definitely be worth checking out!

Hi, Thanks for the nice review. However I can't find a direct answer here. Looks you prefers not to take a side and not to digg into build quality , Tech detailed or internal components like Thomas Greene did. From watching videos only and as an engineer that was involved with coffee machine service business at past it looks the Nishe is a kind of toy compared to this Fiorenzsto All-around grinder. Perhaps I'm wrong. Nishe however looks enjoying more PR over the media. Not sure if what you get inside worth it. I'm looking for single dose, espresso only grinder, long life running, and without the need to re adjust it often. Im not changing coffee type / brand so often. I would like to use it at home and expecting to get repeatable weight output (20 gr, using my Acaia scale). We consume 2-4 espresso cups in average per day only but fresh grounding is essential for best flavor. And of course I would prefer near zero retaining. I herd the Nishe Zero is also not zero retaining. Note: Some grinders using a bellow to blow the remaining coffee. some comments asking if this can be Retrofited to the All-around. There's a rommor that such kit is on the way but I have no clue. However, what most users don't know is that each pressing on that bellow will force some coffee dust under the rotating parts or motos till blocking the path or the rotation. So adding bellow to this grinder without factory re design is not a good idea. As for single does, don't mind to keep little amount of beens in the hopper but not more than 40-60gr. If 2-4 gr of grinded coffer will retain inside better to skip this grinder unless it is using for more than 6-7 Cycles a day. Have you messaured it? Most pro grinders using flat burrs. So 64mm burrs sound to me much better and precise for Espresso than the conical, especially for long stability and dial in (less re adjust). I would be happy to get more info about this. Thank you. Uri

Hey Uri! Thanks for commenting! Lots here so I'll try and go one point at a time :) As far as home grinders go the Niche is well engineered. Is it a commercial grinder? No, but, I've never heard of one failing at home. The components are well spec'd and these grinders perform very well - It will last a long time. If you are looking for single dose, espresso-only, I would NOT recommend the All-Ground. It is definitely designed as a hopper workflow grinder and has a lot more retention than the niche. Even with a bellows, the AllGround is not ideal and you are paying extra for the capability to do coarser grinds. As far as the Niche - is any grinder REALLY zero retention? At the price, the Niche is hard to beat for retention. If you want less, look at the Lagom P64 or P100, but you are going to pay a lot more. Again - yes, there is a rumor of bellows and I even saw an official Fiorenzato source - but this is not the intended use-case for this grinder. As far as beans in the hopper - in daily use yes I usually only keep 2-3 days loaded in there at a time. Flat vs conical - this is not a pro v consumer grinder thing (just look at the Mazzer line). This is largely a taste thing. Personally, I prefer flat but not everyone does. If you haven't, I would encourage you to try a side-by-side somewhere. If you have the budget, sounds like a P64 might be right for you. If not, try the DF83 - its got a couple more rough edges than the Lagoms but also gets you in at a lower price point. Hope that helps!

Hello, thanks for your prompt replay. Grate help. In my location (Israel) there's no official agent for the Nishe. Means only online order. I still have to pay taxes, and no warantee. But we do have lot of others. I'm worried about conical burrs. It reminds me my old automatic Saeco Royal gringer 🙂. Maybe I'm wrong and the nishe is the one after all. But it is not a cheap toy. However, If the budget not so tight (let's say up to 1200-1500USD), what grinder will be your favorite ? I heard some grinders from China (cooy?) Are also pooing up. Once again, specs are Single dose, minimum retaining, stable and easy to adjust, and easy maintenance. Noise is 2nd priority. Im using today Eurika with 50mm burrs . Cons: Not like the dial in knob. And motor is too weak. Especially when burrs not so sharp anymore. Shoot extraction may differ although I'm weighting 20gr each time. So time to improve. Thanks again Uri

I know you said you didn't want to answer the Niche Zero comparison question but I'm glad you did, and I thought I would ask maybe a more complicated version of that question! How do you compare this to the Niche Duo that you recently reviewed? Both seem to hit the "all around grinder" pretty well, with the big difference on the Duo being the burr swap, but I'm curious to hear your perspective! Thanks for the awesome videos, keep it up!
@DaddyGotCoffee
@DaddyGotCoffee Жыл бұрын
Both are excellent grinders. Personally, I lean more toward single dosers because I can sometimes enjoy 3 or 4 different coffees over the course of a day. That’s not really realistic with a hopper style grinder. Also, with any “all around” hopper grinder I find there’s a little more waste as you need to purge when you move between settings. However, even with the niche I tend to leave it on one setting (espresso) and use a hand grinder for filter. I will say the timed grind on the fiorenzato makes for a slick workflow. I would probably base a decision between the two on hopper style/single dose. Hope that helps a bit!
@hatzz
@hatzz Жыл бұрын
@@DaddyGotCoffee Appreciate the response! I have gone back and forth on hopper/single dose a bunch, but I think I'll probably land on the hopper since in practice I don't really move between coffee's frequently. Can you elaborate a little bit more on what you mean by the purge between settings? Maybe I missed something in the review video. Thanks again!
@DaddyGotCoffee
@DaddyGotCoffee Жыл бұрын
@@hatzz for sure! Any time you are tightening the grind, you need to do that with the grinder running, which wastes a couple grams. Also, any time you are at a new setting you should run a couple grams through to make sure any residual grinds at the old setting are gone. It’s only a couple grams each time. To be fair I often do the same with single dosers as well

Hey! Great review! Sorry if you already did answers this but couldn’t find in the comments. For brew coffee, how would you explain the difference in taste in conical vs flat? I’ve used a Baratza Virtuoso for most of my home brewing and always felt it’s a different “type” of outcome than say what you get in a coffee shop. I’ve always assumed this is mainly just the grinder quality, but wondering now if it might have something to do with this?

Normally I don't mind spending money on quality that performs well. However, I found a gem recently which was the kitchenaid coffee burr grinder. I have it dialed in everything from espresso machines to filtered French press coffee. To say I was impressed is an understatement. The trick with that coffee burr grinder is to take the internal grinder out which comes from the factory set at 8 readjust it to 1. Then make sure it clicks in when put back. Then dial in your espresso. Makes wonderful puffy flour like espresso If you so desire. I wish this channel would do a review on it I think he would be surprised. I know I was. Yeah so there are a couple things on that. If single dosing is a priority, the Niche has a superior workflow and retention. BUT if single dosing is not a priority, this grinder performs better across a wider variety of grind sizes, and really outperforms the Niche on filter. However you do need to purge a gram or two between size changes. Interesting. Are you single dosing? When I’m using it with the hopper mine is incredibly consistent to 0.1g using the timed functions (provided no grind size adjustment from one shot to the next). But I don’t recommend this grinder for a single dosing workflow

It’s been a day and I need to stop watching your channel 😂 I found your channel looking into the Ascaso Duo then started looking at grinders. Similar to my thoughts on the Ascaso, aesthetics are important to me and this looks beautiful, and it apparently works excellent as well. Win-win! This is going to the top of my list… right under the Ascaso that is 😂 You’re right it is tall though! I wish they even simply made a smaller hopper that is shorter, I’d be ok with that and filling it more frequently

If I am only in for Espresso would you recommend this over the Nice or say an Eureka Specialita?
@DaddyGotCoffee
@DaddyGotCoffee Жыл бұрын
Good question! I think in comparison to the Niche it really comes down to that single dosing question. Will you be changing beans mid-bag all the time or using different bags throughout the day or week? If so, definitely consider a niche or other single dosing grinder. In comparison to the Eureka, that comes more down to budget. The burrs in this are nicer (in my opinion), but you're also paying more for that and the flexibility to grind across a wider range very well. Hope that helps!

@@Chryzy I purchased eureka mignon crono with filtro pro burrs. The burrs are amazing for espresso too. The only problem is the last bean can’t be grabbed into burrs sometimes . I swapped that burrs to standard espresso burrs. It took my 1 hour to align burrs for perfect result. I made DIY CNC big steel dial ( required) , single dose hopper and bellows and hi-fi sound isolating feets for it. Anyway If I knew this italian all ground brand before Eureka I would not think twice and pay 550euros . I think it is even better than niche zero.

Thanks for the encouragement ☺️ I’m still finding my feet on the way I want to do this on KZfaq - on Instagram I don’t do “gifted content”, only paid content anytime a brand requests something and I always use the “paid partnership” tag. But on KZfaq, I do NOT do ANY paid content (until a niche adjacent sponsor reaches out to me anyway who wants to sponsor videos I’m already doing), because sponsored reviews are basically pointless 😂 So I only review things that I want and my audience asks for, but most of the units end up being demos (I’m just a part time youtuber with a day job and there’s no way I could afford all this equipment for now 😂). On my duo, I did the disclosure on camera but I noticed it’s common not to have that from other creators, so this one I put it in the description. Thanks for your feedback while I’m working out the best fit ☺️

$1100 ? This grinder is only £616 in the UK and that includes VAT and import duty. Why is it so much more in the USA? It should only be about $750 (plus delivery)
@DaddyGotCoffee
@DaddyGotCoffee Жыл бұрын
I’m guessing because of what changes were needed to convert from 220-240v to 120v, and also there are safety and food grade certifications that need to be made for sale in the US. You’ll also find higher prices on Lelit and other European equipment in the US. 🤷‍♂️

@@DaddyGotCoffee yes that’s true but a lot of ppl contemplating getting this like me might also be considering the df64,niche zero or even a fellow ode with red sped burrs so while it does seem like a great all round grinder that one thing about the retention has been keeping me from truly considering it especially since I would only be single dosing.
