Signal testing on a Simplex 4010 & 4002 system at a large office park. The panels are connected and activate simultaneously with the 4002 controlling the original building. The 4010 is part of a large expansion to the complex added later. This newer wing is 100% addressable.

@@randomdude440They make selectable 4903s, 4 Wire TrueAlerts (4903s), SmartSync 2 Wire (4906s), Addressable (TrueAlert ES and 4906 retrofits). Selectable 4903s and 4 Wire TrueAlerts are used to replace older 90's 4903s. 4906 TrueAlerts are used to replace fixed Candela 4903 SmartSync models (QuickAlert/TrueAlert). TrueAlert ES replaces fixed Candela Addressable TrueAlerts and 4906 Addressable TrueAlert Wall Horn and Remote Strobes.

Awesome video! Didn't realize all addressable TrueAlerts had that shrill tone. I thought it was just the TrueAlert ES. I like the sound of the conventional SmartSync version a lot better.

This is when Simplex stopped buying directly from Faraday, The 921* Series and the 920*(With the sole exception of the Simplex 4903-9202, the 4903-9405 brand, and the Simplex 4903-9401), Were phased out because Simplex Starting Producing Their own Horns, The 4903-9236 and The 4903-9238 brands are examples, as those were tests for The Later Truealert brands. The 4903 Based Electromechanical horns were rebranded Siemens UN-S17(Correction needed) Horns. Simplex Released the 4903-9238 and Later Before 2000, so those were sold till about 2011 or so. But was the first line of Simplex making their own products

Reminds me a lot of the campus center at my friend's university, except they just have one Simplex 4100ES covering the whole building that has had some renovations over the years. The Simplex system started out as a 4100 set up as conventional with electromechanical 4903 horn/strobes. Then a few parts of the building were renovated in the last decade and had TrueAlert horn/strobes and addressable pull stations and detectors installed (they obviously modified the 4100 panel to have both conventional and addressable capabilities during the renovations), and then in 2013 they renovated the main lobby area, but they actually went with voice-evac in this area, with TrueAlert speaker/strobes, and they replaced the 4100 panel with a voice-capable Simplex 4100ES system. It sure is an interesting, if unusual, system, what with the mix of electromechanical horns, electronic horns and voice-evac, not to mention being a half-conventional/half-addressable system.

weatherdan882002 I believe you can just reset with using only one panel. So if you have multiple panels you can use just one to reset the entire system.

Must be reset separately. I’m thinking they’re connected via monitor Zam with no re-alarming feature.

My high school had a 4002 interconnected with an EST3, and I know the 4002 would send the EST3 alarm, and once the 4002 was reset it'd go into trouble because the EST3 was still in alarm, and then once the EST3 was reset, the trouble on the 4002 would go away. I never saw the EST3 trip the 4002, but based on what you just described, it sounds like that's how they have it set up.

Mainly because I needed to get all the notification devices tested prior to the buildings opening. This was the quickest way to do that.

Here's the system: Simplex Truealerts (Some of the Truealerts are on continuous while others do code 3) Simplex 2903-9001 with a Simplex 2901-9838 inside of it Simplex Mechanical horn/strobes (9217, 9219) Simplex TruealertES on code 3 Panels: 4002 + 4010 both on continuous

The Fairly OddParents I don’t think he’s from CT (I could be wrong) but that school has nothing special, just I believe either a Simplex 4010 or 4100 system with TrueAlerts set to code-3 like every other school in town (upgraded from a 2001 system with 9838+9101 combos set to continuous) except Vernon Center Middle which has an EST system of some sorts with Genesis’ set to code-3 (no idea what they had before).

These are the TrueAlert ES Models. They sound similar to MT Devices. All of which are set to code 3 for the sake of code

All newer devices are temporal per code. The new addition has addressable AVs. 4906-9227 I believe.

@MinerMini2115 Actually, the 4906-92xx series are just a regular addressable TrueAlert notification appliances that predated the TrueAlert ES series. The TrueAlert ES devices uses a mixture of letters and numbers in their model numbers.

4002 Is Capable of Code 3, Its just not up to code, Because of the Long Pause between the last tone. So, Most Installers used Continuous(Non-Temporal), as a Coding option. A lot of places in my area Has Continuous As Current Code here for new installs(I Live In the Chicago area). And I’ve seen a Lot of new buildings in my area that either are Simplex Based on Non-Temporal with Truealerts, or Notifier/Honeywell Systems with Spectralerts on Non-Temporal. As in this video, The 4010 Classic was a very new install, and was capable of proper Code 3

Dale Nuss the ones on continuous are on the 4002 panel, the ones on temporal are on the 4010 panel

Marc Leslie ok I think I understand. The truealerts running continues must be free run or have a module if they’re connected to the 4002. The 4002 can do temporal but it’s not up to code due to the pauses between pulses being a bit messed up.

@@dale4231 Yes. You are Absolutely Correct. The 4002 Is Mostly either on Continuous A Whole Lot, or March Time. In this Case, The 4002 was on Continuous in this Building(Old Section, all Zoned out, Grandfathered.), and then the Recently Renovated section Prior to this test(4010 Classic). Code 3 to meet Current Regulations. So, The 4010 Classic Had To be put in at least 4 or 5 years prior to this test, because of how well the newer Electric Horns Sound. The only difference with this system is that this system does activate in both buildings if one station is pulled(Regardless on which building it was in, Both Buildings will activate it’s Horn/Strobes). But the other problem is that You have to go to each building to silence its own panel.

Probably an ES because the Truealerts have a higher pitch than the normal truealert. They almost sound close to the Wheelock MT which means it's an ES device.

So that means the TrueAlerts are either 4903-9450’s or 4996-9227’s, right? I can kinda confirm this by slowing down certain parts of the footage to examine and observe the TrueAlert. The grilles on the TrueAlert es devices have a different look to them than the older TrueAlerts. I observed them and noticed that they look similar to the older grilles on the older TrueAlerts

In the older building, Yes, Because they were On Continuous, and It’s a older system. In the new building, They were in Sync, Because of the Very recent Upgrade.
