Fire Alarm Testing Via Smartphone

This equipment is a tool we at Simplex use on our more modern systems. It still has its flaws to be ironed out however as you see, I can control vital system functions all at the palm of my hand no matter where i'm at on a customer site.

Even though Simplex is known for proprietary hardware, and being very picky about compatibility etc. The one thing that they've always been good at is being innovative. I can imagine testing being so much easier with this sort of thing, as well as managed for the building operator. Also how would this sort of thing be done, I'd imagine there'd be a dialler/communication card of some sort, but telephone line, Internet or cellular com I'm not sure.

That is super sweet I see the app is using the default voiceover voice on all iPhones I personally recommend downloading the Alex voice. It's default on any Mac from AT LEAST 2009 and it sounds more human like.

Gary Beltz I prefer the Siri voice for voiceover Siri female enhanced, because it sounds like Siri and I can make it repeat Siri responses over and over again.

Gary Beltz - Actually, it's been the default voice since the release of OS X Leopard back in late 2007.

Cool! Is it connected to the DACT or does it have its own connection like you said to the cloud? Seems like a very useful tool in large applications.

HJCF0520 Box connects to data port & receives data from there to the cloud and ultimately to my phone.

WheelockElevator We have boxes registered to each tech which connects to the data port on newer panels. It operates off an internal "cloud based" network which is linked directly to the phone software.

About :26 seconds in looks like the strobes are out of sync from the adjoining hallway to the one your looking down. Should get that fixed.

Yeah I don't particularly like that voice that's why I downloaded the Alex voice for my phone. I'm visually impaired and I'll use it to read news articles, app update information, and so on.

Simplex 2002 Yes they recently came out with a component module for compatibility with Legacy panels, i.e 4100,4020,4010

Simplex 2002 Yes however basic walk test alone allows for that already. This just allows for more flexibility during inspections and helps us to more quickly troubleshoot & diagnose issues.

what is the point of setting off the system by opening the station when you can just pull it as it does the same exact thing as opening it

Jesse Ridgeway I agree. I feel the proper inspection technique is to pull the station thereby testing the operable part of the device. Then reset it using the key. I do not feel just opening with key is a best practice.

All pull stations had already been functionality tested for the year at other times off video. This was just most convenient at the time for purposes of this demonstration since my hands were full.
