What is the point of hooking the ladder belt into the rope when climbing the aerial? Is provides virtually no additional fall protection at all without a rope grab. A top belay through a friction device would be much better.

It is fall arrest. Meaning if it goes down to quick it automatically stops you from falling. It’s pretty effective
