Well yall we rescued this old, abandoned Buick from certain death weather that be rotting away into the ground or being sold for scrap. Shes gonna be back on the road cruising again just like the good Lord intended for all hotrods! Will the old 322ci Fireball V8 roar back to life? Hopefully that Variable Pitch Dynaflow Automatic Transmission is still with us! Car needs a few floor patches but other than that she is super solid.... worst parts gonna be fixing the front seat I'm afraid. Brakes and tires ad we should be pretty close to yard driving after we service everything! It runs! First time in atleast 6 years according to what I was told, but I think its been longer than that!
Hey yall welcome to the channel this is another great car rescue video. You know we like our barn finds and abandoned cars getting saved from a wasted life or the scrap pile. This is one stylish 1955 Buick Roadmaster Sedan! Equipped with a 322ci Fireball V8 and a Variable-pitch Dynaflow automatic transmission. Also standard equipment on the Roadmaster included power steering, backup lamps, brake warning signal lamp, and an electric clock. This car came from the same place in Florida that we saved that 1966 Pontiac GTO. Both cars went through Hurricane Michael and shortly after that the gentleman that they belonged to got sick and unfortunately passed away at an early age. We met the his sister and she offered to sell them to us and we could pass up these cool old hotrods and dont like to see them waste away. So now they will both get a new lease on life. This Buick I really hope is going to be a runner, would be awesome to get it back on the road pretty soon with out a ton of time and money. Fingers crossed its going to be a runner! Id love to put some tires on it and brakes, service everything and cruse around in this stylish automobile. Id have to get a set of whitewalls and lower the car I'd say about 3 inches. Once we get it running Ill clean the paint up with 0000 steel wool and some 409 bathroom cleaner and then get some @poppyspatina and wipe on a nice clear coat to preserve that killer patina! I hope yall enjoy the video and dig this killer hotrod!

This brings me back to 1965 when I was a teenager and my best friend's Dad had one of these. His was black with white leather and black cloth interior. My friend lived upstairs from me. The parents were divorced and the Dad was an entertainer and away a lot, so left the car at the ex Wife's. We used to sit in it and play the radio. Sometimes my friend got daring and actually started it. Several months later, the Dad came to get the car and the battery was dead. He was really hot tempered and I could hear all the yelling upstairs. I thought he was gonna kill him. Still alive though and celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary.

Brother, that is one sexy beast. Cars these days just don't have the class that the cars back then had. They prob said the same thing when that was new. Its funny. I remember growing up in the 80s and 90s and people back then would say that the 80s and 90s cars were pieces of crap. They would look at the 60s and 70s cars and say" they dont make it like that anymore. They were great cars" now i am hearing the same people say these cars are junk they dont make them like that anymore. Talking about the 80s and 90s. Its like yea that goes without saying lol.

Quite a strange setup, of its brake power booster.. i can’t say I’ve ever seen any ‘55 Buick with one up next to the power steering pump, as the brake booster “should be” mounted down in frame, damned near directly below drivers area of bench seat. Other then that, yes, the ‘55 Roady’s were top shelf fully loaded cars; very plush ride & actually will be a bonus being a 4 Dr! I’ve got two of these, as 2Dr HT Super “Riviera’s” (Super series were essentially identical to Roady series, less otherwise certain standard options). Only option mine don’t have & wish at least one of them did have, is factory original power windows! If not mistaken, per Roady’s, only the 2Dr HT coupe “Riviera” again, ALL came with power window feature; optional equip in all other layouts. I personally have always felt the 322 w/that years’ twin turbo variable pitch Dynaflow, is beyond enough power/push for what’s needed! Quite a nice package! I’ve yet to get the factory a/c system of mine, all restored & fully functional again.. some day hopefully, I will! These 322 nailheads came with 4 BBL Carter WCFB carbs most commonly… (was considered optional equip), otherwise equipped with a 4 BBl Rochester. Just an FYI side note, that radio you’ve got in her, IS the “Wonder Bar” model; worth a chunk of change & totally worth having one of the very few out there that KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING, giving it a once-over reconditioning. I didn’t notice if you’ve got it or not but, if the drivers floor area where peddles are, also has what looks like a secondary headlight dimmer switch, oh about 6 or so inches right of dimmer switch, would be a pretty cool original accessory option for that Wonder Bar radio.. it provides the driver a safe means of quickly mashing a floor switch to get radio to automatically seek another radio station, without having to remove hands from steering wheel! If she’s also got a factory power antenna, that’d be another pure gold accessory WORTH having gone thru, correctly, as every single tiny part of them original power antenna systems are made out of Unoptainium! Other then that obvious exhaust leak, she sounds healthy enough.. do y’all self a MASSIVE FAVOR & REMOVE ITS OIL PAN BEFORE RUNNING IT MUCH MORE & CLEAN THAT OUT ENTIRELY!! These CAN and often DO have a huge amount of old, ancient sludge buildup in pans & WILL starve the oil pump, especially in cold weather.. this WILL Eventually starve pistons of proper lubrication and BAM! Scrap metal! This is what killed mine that did run decently… major regret NOT cleaning out that damned sludge in time! One more FYI, this Roady will require THIRTY THREE FEET of heater core hose, To FULLY do that job right.. might be just leaking water from each cores’ nipples but could also be cores themselves. One of those is just a trans “cooler” for the Dynaflow’s REAR trans fluid pump.. core in passenger kick panel area is heater & defrost. Core under drivers seat is just an additional heater.. I’ve collected just about every speck of ORIGINAL literature for my ‘55’s, one piece being a quad-foldout wall chart for shop techs to refer too, listing each exact length of heater core hose required, totaling 33 FEET worth of dang hose! “Safety Power Steering” in these, works very nicely, for what it is.. hopefully y’all get’er up and going, as close to full stock as possible… me personally, seeing as how straight and nice her body is, would choose just going over that whole body with some 3M Scotch Brite pads to rough off some of that surface rust & either oil it all down or, clear coat over that patina.. would look pretty sweet!

Thats a lot of great info and I appreciate it! Yes it does have the second dimmer type switch and I was curious as to what it was, so thank you for that! I did some more digging and the only thing that I can figure is the giant booster appearing apparatus was an aftermarket add on. The man who owned it for a lot of years back in the at least early 60s was a manager at a parts house. Also Dad informed me yesterday while he was reading the shop manual that it was a Carter and not a Rochester. But it sounds like you really know your old Buicks and I can tell you I really dig this thing!

Nice! That makes more since why that add on booster looks as old as it does.. wonder what went wrong with original booster down under.. maybe that dude in the 60’s, just wanted better access to brake system. We’ll never know! Lol. You might wanna go back over whatever long-winded rant I typed out, as I added a few more bits of info for y’all! ENJOY! PS: Yeah, I’ve learned a bit about these mid 50’s Buicks over the past couple decades of having them; 2nd one was intended being strictly a parts donor car.. now been attempting to get that one, HEAVILY RUSTY & LOADED WITH CANCER, all functional, as a “daily driver” as is.

@seanbatiz6620 not sure, I was thinking about it and wonder if a traveling salesman and brought them in to sell at his store and sold him on the fact that it was better. It had some kind of small electric pump attached to it as well

I’m planning to smoother up and clear coat for sure! Might even respray the roof white before I do that, thinking painting the wheels white and going to the dog dish style hubcaps. I’m really not a fan of the full size hubcaps that came with the car. I do want to lower the car some.

@@323Fabrication easiest way, especially with a 4dr, is load’er up with BIG girls! 🤪🤣 What info’s on its cowl nomenclature plate, under right side back edge of hood when opened? I have the data here of trim & paint codes, if you’re interested in knowing what trim/bolster package & original color(s) it was
