Many people don't understand the basic needs of chickens or how important it is to provide safe dry housing in all seasons.My chickens free range a couple hrs a day day at least. Love the set up for your chicken coops!Fabulous job!

Fañtastic, you have thought about everything, to make the girls happy! Absolutely everything. They have such an interesting life, plenty to do, cozy and warm coop, regularity to be let out! Great food, nesting places, fresh water, roost galore, windows. What more could you want as a chicken? Above all this they have you, a caring, animal lover as their dad!..And they already love you so much! You are a special man with a pure heart. A bit like the place you are living at. So glad, I found this video. Now compare that to the chickens kept in a cage all the time, living on wire! Never getting out in the sun! Or have proper exercise. Do you think, that your eggs are so much healtier for you. I mean being in this pandemic, we have learned that vit D is so important for our immune system and health. Right? Well how can the eggs from commercial egg layers be as healthy as yours? Not possible. I eat every day at least 2 4 min eggs. And I hang till the next morning, so I can have my eggs. Best food ever. So now I have been looking for a coop, the ready made coops are no good. Too small, no windows, steep ladders, cheap wood, too low, whatever, they are no good. So thank you, I have just shared your video with my 2 adult sons, to see, if they think, we 3 could do this? They are no handymen! But I think, this would be a great experience! Thanks to your video, such clear and simple instractions, I feel we could build this . So thanks again.

since in the last 2 years i have worked as an motorcycle mechanic (last year in a bmw dearship), i'll try to get a job in that field, maybe in Canada or Australia, in a place were me and my wife could build a better life, cause my country due to corruption is going into dark times. even if i only get a job in constructions is still a start, i'm used to power tools and i dont fear the tape measure :)

Cristian Valentin Dobre sorry to hear about what’s going on in your country. Both Canada and Australia would be amazing. Canada is a lot cheaper from what I understand and the weather is a little more tolerant, except maybe winter. I really hope you are able to secure a better life for you and your family. Construction is a great way to make a living and an honorable trade. Good luck with everything, keep me posted!

Another terrific video. Did you use a drone in the beginning? You have beautiful property. What state are you in? All I can say is your chickens are very fortunate. You have really built them a special pen with all the percs. Heated water, solar lights, everything they would need. Excellent job!

pam t Thanks! I actually found it on amazon. I tried to find this listing but it’s no longer available but there are quite a few out there. I think I paid about 15$. I’ve tried to wire a regular fan, which worked but it needs to be plastic and very light weight. Good luck!

Ended up with double pane windows installed in the coop and hardware cloth installed on the inside to keep out predators. I have a thermometer in the coop and it does hold heat pretty well from their little bodies. Just have to make sure there's air movement to keep down moisture. Cheers!

Hey there, thanks for a great video. I just found your page and didn't see any previous ones so this wasn't an "updated" one for me haha. I'll be building my girls and two roosters a nicer home shortly. I'm collecting a lot of really great ideas from different people. I really like how are you Incorporated the solar fan and gravity-fed water system to their living space. Automated door system is such a great idea, thanks. Idea: If you take the feeders and put along the back of the coop, have them turn 45° or 90° underneath the coop. This way the food is protected from the elements. Your system is more or less the same idea, just in a different location of the coop. I only mention this because you weren't sure if you were going to keep it where you at now. Regarding the bedding you chose, from the research that I've done I found that Aspen, pine wood chips can cause respiratory issues with small animals. Hay or straw is typically the best to use for betting and they occasionally eat from some areas as well. Thanks again... SUBSCRIBED:)

Great video.Thank's. Love these ideas but.... How much time and money you need to have and keep up a place for chickens like yours?
@fireballmalone1
@fireballmalone1 5 жыл бұрын
Its actually really cheap. The woodchips are $5 a bundle, to fill the coop and run it only takes 3. That happens about once every few months. I started getting them the high quality Omega 3, high calcium fee at tractor supply which is about $16 for 50 lbs, and that last at least 2 months because they are free range. I get 2 bottles of ACV every 6 months to add to their water at about $4 a bottle. Other than that, theres not other cost for anything. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment. I have been thinking about getting some additions to the little flock. I've never introduced new birds to them so I am doing some research on the best way to do it. A friend is supposed to bring me a temp coop for the new ones so I can keep them separated by a fence, but together without being able to fight. Should be soon and I am planning to do a video on it. If you have any experience with it, I am always open to suggestions. Cheers!

@@fireballmalone1 I actually just started 😂, I dont have any experience with chickens but I bought a book and got others from the library about homesteadig and how to raise them 🐔😂 . My dream is to live in a homestead one day but for now I just bought 3 pullets and I have a mini-coop that I am gonna expand later. I purchased a Barred Rock, a Black Austrolorp and an Easter Egger. I wanna get a Wyandotte and a Buff Orpington, however since I live in a residential area I have to be caareful. Wish me luck with my neighboors 🤞. Im excited that in a few months I am gonna have brown and olive or blue eggs 🐔🤗
@fireballmalone1
@fireballmalone1 5 жыл бұрын
@@griseldaosorio9664 That is super exciting that you're starting out and actually have the ball rolling. Hopefully your neighbors are cool; I'm sure living in a suburban type neighborhood can put pressure on what kinds of animals you have. Is your yard fenced in? My chickens like to wander and I have neighbors, not too close but they have made their way over there. My neighbors have been great and I make sure to bring them fresh bread when I'm baking :) I wish you the best of luck with everything and hopefully soon you will on a homestead. I can't say enough nice things about not living in a hugely populated area with people so close they can hear your tv lol. cheers!

Thanks for the feedback. The lights I put in are basic solar lights and don't last more than about 45 minutes at best of times. In the summer there are a ton of trees so they don't charge to much and in the winter the sun doesn't do a great job either. The light it gives off is really mellow too. They are definitely not intended to push their systems to lay, but more for a chill transition from day to night as they get ready for sleep. I really appreciate the comment and thanks again. Cheers!

@fireballmalone1
@fireballmalone1 4 жыл бұрын
I actually thought about that but we have trees around the coop and keep them so they cast a lot of shade in the summer. Having windows that can open/close makes keeping the coop temp regulated in the winter much easier. Now we have power run out there too and a fan that circulates air during the day to keep the inside cooler for laying and more comfy at night. A wall thermometer has shown us that it makes a big difference. Cheers!
