I am trying to bring as many eyes to the mental health mission as possible. Helmet cam footage is just another means to help. This helmet cam video is courtesy of a Firefighter Buddy.
In January of 2020 I decided to start a KZfaq channel. My mission with this channel and all my social media blitz is to help bring awareness to firefighter issues like PTSD and occupational cancer through the game of golf. PTSD is real in the first responder professions and I hope though all this that I make an impact with at least one person.
My name is Steve Pope and I have been a Firefighter for the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department for 27 years and the Merriam Fire Department for 1. I am an avid golfer who wants to grow the game of golf with this channel while also bringing awareness to the issues above.
I have a passion for golf and this mission because I have some PTSD issues that have caused problems in my family life as well as everyday coping. If you are a Firefighter, First Responder, Military or just a golfer that wants to play with me please reach out.

I've been an electrician in KC for over 30 years. I've been shocked by 120, 240, 480 and hit by lightning working on a house in Lone Jack. There is a huge difference between being shocked and electrocuted. I'm glad your friend recovered from his shocking experience. In my opinion, they should make it standard practice to teach you guys how to pull a meter or disconnect main services in these situations

Me too people asked if I have ever been electrocuted I said no or I wouldn't be taking you

Pulling meters is EXTREMELY dangerous, too many firefighters were getting hurt doing that, that's why we never do it. Not worth the risk. Being electrocuted or shocked during fires is actually pretty rare. Most firefighters coming in contact with downed lines OUTSIDE of a building is much more common. Newer codes that have outside disconnects at the meter outside the house is a better solution.

The fire chief should MAKE SURE the power is off @ the meter.

Why??? Basements are great, much more space on the same foot print. You have to have a foundation anyway, might as well dig it deeper.

@@igotJesus88 Well I've known several guys that have fallen from the second floor into the first floor, so there's that. You have to be situationally aware of the conditions around, above, and below you.
