Some would put their lives on the line to protect people, and go through horrible abuse on a daily basis to do so. The ACAB narrative has always seemed unfairly prejudicial to me, and a bit sad. yeah except if he was in a deadly arrhythmia and delayed defibrillation could have cost him his life. They should have taken him to meet ALS capable paramedics on the way to the hospital not to mention the pain and torture this child went throug while not recoeving pain and memory management. Yeah wait like 45 minutes for an ambo, dispatchers would treat these kinds of call as non priority since the kid was breathing - and not as much critical priority as someone who is in cardiac arrest, so yeah it was a good call for officers to rush him to the hospital. Even though the officer's actions were extremely dangerous and he put his own life at risk as well. Now I would like to know how the fuck something like that happened and who is liable to get sued for all they got - city ? why was power not cut off - events like these are extreme emergencies, and calls for a crew to come and cut power. For high voltage lines you can get electrocuted within around 33 feet

@@jimmydandy9364that’s actually not true. Systems typically have tiers for priority vs non priority. Priority being code 3 and the other code 2. Code three runs are Code 3 Runs regardless of nature. Just because he’s breathing does not mean they would divert a unit for a cardiac arrest UNLESS the cardiac arrest (or any other priority call) was closer to that responding unit than the original call.

It was the right thing to do for this call, seconds count. That being said, it was also a horrible risk the first two who grabbed the kid took and unfortunately I highly doubt that the kid survived or would not be in a vegetative state. I say this as a first responder. This video should also come with strong graphic warnings, censoring the kids face alone is not sufficient.

From what i am seeing i don't think you are totally correct. What would be more accurate to say is the guy who's body cam we are watching wasint going to wait. By the looks of it other cops already showed up and even had the time to put down caution tape. I wouldnt be too hard on them consider the danger here but the only people who really deserve credit here are the two cops who decided to put there life's at risk to save that kid. He didnt set up tape he said right away "i got to get him" and then he did it.

It depends, if heart has stopped then cpr needs to be done immediately, this kid was breathing which means his heart didn't stop, as horrible as it looks, it wasn't that much life threatening. I don't know much about this story, was there a live wire where officer entered or what, if there were no live wires then he didn't risk his life at all, but I think there was, I think I heard someone say there is live wire. I'm sorry for what happened to your husband, but maybe there was nothing anyone could have done, it all depends on circumstances and how high the voltage was. Plus if it is AC or DC, if it's AC then it's much more severe damage.

The boys hands are burned at the point where he tried to pick up the wire and I can only assume its 240v with low amperage going directly to a house or something.

This is one of those feel good civil servant stories that departments run with for good publicity. I'm not taking anything away from what the cops did, it was in deed a dangerous situation, but we simply don't give them the training they need! 1. That boy is NOT breathing. Multiple cops say "he's breathing' They report to the dispatcher that he's breathing. He is NOT breathing or snoring. He is agonal breathing which means his brain is being injured due to a lack of oxygen and it's a reflex. It's the bodies last ditch effort to get oxygen to the brain Someone in agonal breathing is VERY close to death. People in agonal breathing often are in cardiac arrest, or suffered a stroke, drowning. suffocation, electrocution, drug overdose... What they needed to do was check for a pulse and start CPR and/or ventilations. The fact that he came out of agonal breathing on his own is a miracle. . Police shouldn't transport. Now I don't know what the EMS response time is in that area, but in most cities with an EMS system it is better to wait for EMS than transport in a police cruiser. Usually patients die in the cruiser on the way to the hospital. The news says it took them 4 minutes to get to the hospital. The ambulance probably could have gotten to the scene in under 4 minutes and started medical intervention sooner. Also if the patient goes into arrest on the way to the hospital in the back of an ambulance they have medical equipment. Oxygen, D-fib, medications, etc. The police cruiser has none of that. You can't even perform CPR in a cop car Police should almost NEVER transport a patient. 3. This took place at the corner of Charlotte and Sharrow streets. Check out Google street view. In the video the wire is four feet off the floor running from the white sign on the right to possibly the porch of the red house on the left. You can clearly see the wire in contrast with the white house on the left. Also if you look past the white sign on the right you can see the parking lot is also taped off with caution tape. Clearly the wire is down in the parking lot, runs across the sign and over to the red house. The boy is no longer touching the wire. The wire is not touching the street. I highly doubt that cop got shocked. The officer grabbing the other ankle sure didn't. Makes no sense. disgusting that the city allowed the electric to still be on when there was a downed wire near the school no crossing guards and no one there to tell the kids going to school that the city is garbage and hasn't shut off electrical to the downed wire from at least 12 hours prior PLENTY OF TIME TRASH HUMANS secondly THIS BOY WAS IN AGONY THAT THE COPS WILL NEVER COMPREHEND NEITHER WILL MOST OF US. The also probably caused brain damage because they didn't do basic stuff that we leaned in school as kids about life saving. Did anyone check for a pulse? Even mild electrocution is incredibly painful. He’s small. This could easily have killed him. This kid was a champ.

That’s so amazing.. Ty for sharing. God definitely blessed and watched over that child that day, and sent over some seriously heroic police offers to handle it too, without even blinking an eye, 2 amazing cops BOTH took shocks to pull that poor boy away from danger and probably certain worse. Of course there is an amount of compassion being shown for a kid being electrocuted you psychopath. I know one of the hardest things for me is to see one in pain especially the younger ones.

Screams mean he’s alive. The silence was deafening to me. I felt relieve and sadness that he was in so much pain and fear, but it could’ve been so much worse. I’m not religious so I won’t call it a miracle, but man is he tough. The burnt hands as he laid there with them up over his head with me I think. I wish the entire family a speedy recovery, not just physically but mentally seeing your brother go thru that is traumatic.I couldn’t imagine the emotions the entire family will struggle with.

@@nava8167 pain and probably felt like shit from being super tensed up an everything else to do with electricity. It definitely takes over the body. At the very least any muscles. Aside from any burns associated from it. An he was starting to come back to in the squad car and was feeling it all that much more

There’s things in life you never forget as a cop. Hell, as any person who’s been in an emergency situation. These officers will never forget the sound of that screaming.
