" I walked along a deserted plain, with a winter forest visible in front. My boots sank into the snowdrifts, making it difficult to walk. The sun gradually dropped and approached the peaks of the mountains in the distance, beyond which it would soon set. I looked back, my train, from which I got off, was also standing in the same place, but already looked very small. I had walked about a third of the way, just a few miles, and realized that I would not make it to Wellsbrook before sunset. I also didn’t want to get back on the train, since I had no desire to wait two days for it to leave again. I approached the forest; a narrow path led deep into it. The last rays of the sun were slowly fading, I took out a flashlight and continued walking. It was dangerous to walk through the winter forest at night, but I had some skills to survive in such harsh conditions, so I was confident in what I was doing. I continued to walk, the snow crunched under my feet, some rustling sounds were heard, probably these were forest animals, I was not a welcome guest here. I took a torch out of my backpack and lit it, it lit better than a flashlight and scared away unwanted animals. It was about four miles to town, but my legs were very tired and I wanted to rest. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a tent with me, but I did have a thermos with hot tea and some food. I decided to walk a little further and take a short break in a suitable place. Suddenly I saw something similar to a house, it was an old wooden hut in the middle of the forest. I came closer and made sure that there was no one in it.
Just in case, I knocked on the door and then entered. It was a very small house, it was clear that no one had lived here for a long time. But everything necessary for life was here: glass windows, a fireplace, firewood, an armchair, a small bed, and even a kerosene lamp and an old guitar. I liked it here because it was much better than being in the middle of the forest. First of all, I lit the fireplace, to my surprise it quickly warmed the room. Then I took off my heavy boots and outer clothing, and sat down next to the fireplace to warm up. I just sat and listened to the pleasant crackling sounds of the fireplace. A couple of minutes later a snowstorm began with strong winds and snowfall. I was grateful that I found this house, I was safe. " To be continued...
