This vlog covers my first 2 “mods” for my 2022 Chevrolet 2500 HD L5P. First is the S&B MAP sensor spacer kit. The second is the Suspension Maxx steering stabilizer kit. Both of these are relatively low cost and easy installs. These are no brainers!!! Thanks for watching.

Hey Matt! Hope that you and your family are doing great. I watched this video when you first put it out and just kind of let it go in one ear and out the other because I'm not mechanical and am just now learning about things like this. I didn't know cleaning a map sensor was something a person could do as maintenance, etc! In the past few weeks I've watched tons of videos and done numerous mods and all the fluid/filter maintenance that can be done on my truck. I'd never changed oil by myself before this. Really enjoying learning how to do this stuff! Thank you for this video and I wish that I had paid more attention to it the first time. Just cleaned my map sensor on my 2019 duramax for the first time at 40,300 miles. I'm sure you can imagine how gnarly and caked with soot that thing was!! I've seen an almost 2mpg improvement in fuel economy since I cleaned it last week. I don't know enough about this to know if that is normal or even makes sense yet. I'd imagine if I don't add a spacer like you've shown that it will pretty quickly get coated again and the mpg should decrease? Hell, I'm thinking maybe I should just clean the thing every other weekend or something if it'll save that much money on fuel. Anyways, I wanted to ask your opinion about something. I am thinking to do a transmission thermostat bypass plug from Werli fab. I bought the thing already but I keep going back and forth on whether or not the transmission will be too cool in the winter here in Colorado? I don't know if the 2022's have this thermostat or if GM fixed the issues that have been reported. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this if you get a chance. Thanks again and God bless.

Thanks for the continued support Tom, always appreciated! In my opinion, the thermo bypass plug in the end eliminates a possible mechanical issue on those trucks. However, what you sacrifice is a couple things…1- it will take longer for your trans to get up to operating temps. For me, I tow/haul everyday and often leave trailers attached overnight so first thing in the morning, I like giving it the best chance to reach those temps quicker. 2- Werli makes great stuff, but I think these plugs are really meant more for trucks with big tunes/turbos/injectors making big hp. For the daily use like ours doing what they were made for, I think it’s okay to leave it alone. However, overall if you think your Allison 6spd is hitting temps that make you uncomfortable, install one! To me, if it gives you piece of mind then it’s worth every penny. But since I’m under warranty and have seen 0 issues of any kind in over 20k miles so far this year hauling everything from boats to roll offs to our 5th wheel, I’m gonna stick with stock. To be honest idk if my new 10spd (10L1000) has the same type of system as the older generation 6 spd on your 2019. Long ass answer, but I hope this helps! Thanks again and remember, we have 300+ days of sunshine here in CO, it gets bellow 20 maybe a few times a year and rarely holds that more than a few days at a time.

@@aslife3813 Thanks Matt for the quick response! I believe that eventually the thermostat will fail on this transmission cooler. Will I see it in time? The banks idash lets me monitor it, true, but I figure a $60 well machined plug that removes the possibility of failure is money well spent? I do not currently have much knowledge or understanding of how transmissions work regarding the coolers and operating temperatures but I am working to rectify that. If all I lose is a little bit of time for the system to reach proper operating temperature than I would be satisfied with that. Out of my 40, 300 miles I would estimate that 39k + have been pulling dump trailers and 14 ft roll off trailers. I have read that in cooler weather holding the brake while in drive and increasing throttle to 1200 rpm increases transmission temperatures quickly? Also, I have the stock thermostat and it would take about 10 minutes to reinstall it if I needed to for the winter, I suppose. I just don't want to have to do it, to be honest. Another "no brainer" mod right away might be to replace the stock back up light in the tail light housing with an led bulb. Less than five minutes for both and lights up the whole neighborhood. Really nice when having to back up at night. Not sure if the 22 custom's are led already. The LED headlight bulbs were more of a hassle but still a great, cheap upgrade. The led fog light upgrade is also nice and I did it but I don't think I ever actually used the stock ones. There is a you tube channel by C Farmer for anyone interested in learning about maintenance stuff on the 16 or 17-19 silverados. He does RV transport and is over 400k miles and does a really great job of teaching how to do so many maintenance things as well as his experience on what to expect from the duramax over those miles. Thanks again and God bless!

@Diesel Mex banks says that to get you to buy the derrienger...I have the pulsar in my 22 at4 35000...works great, just don't leave it on race tune around town, that will cause re-gen faults. I leave it on #3 and laugh at ford's and rams...no issue, and yes my warranty is just fine. Banks is overpriced junk, their intakes are junk as well, s&b or wc is best for these trucks.

Nothing but constant regens with the pulsar. Ran mine on stock the whole time I had it. There is a reason you cannot buy it without the cts3 anymore because you have to constantly clear codes. Not to mention pumping more carbon into the engine through the egr when you crank the HP up.

Apparently he didn't get the memo that the spacer does not allow the sensor to read intake temp properly. That sensor does more then pressure and will cause regen problems, And that's why they're not popular.

Well I just did this install on my 2020. Thanks for your walk through. For everyone, make sure you rotate the new sensor into the S&B mount. Watching their video as well, it just seems a easy insert but you have to twist it as you put it in, you don't have to man handle it for it to insert. I wanted to bring out the grips but took a deep breath and rewatched the videos. Once you twist as you insert, it went in just great.

My experience with my 2017 has been that the MAP is critical to the regen completing properly.. So the dirtier my MAP got the worse the mileage and more frequent the regens were.. my DPF would not go lower than 20% restriction after a regen.. only a static regen with a tool would get it to 0%. YMMV.. but that has been my observation.

@aslife3813

I assume it’s a Duramax? If so, you should be able to hold at least 60 thru Vail. If you’re having issues with power at high altitude, limit as much weight as you can, make sure your intake is clean and limit gear hunting as much as possible by using your trans gear limiter on the shift column. Other than that, add a larger turbo/injectors and tune that shit
