The Tenth Doctors regeneration will never cease to bring tears to my eyes. The desperation of the doctor who regenerated once before but couldn’t hold himself back anymore…who was all alone and all his friends were left behind…the end of era. My favorite regeneration is still 10’s. Not only is he the best Doctor, but his regeneration was the best (and also the saddest thing in the series). It’s so devastating seeing that he’s not yet ready to regenerate (which makes sense bc timeline-wise, he had the shortest span). He doesn’t have a big long speech, and instead, we see this man who we all love and have seen as a hyperactive man-child who disguises his crippling loneliness die alone. After all the torment he went through in the episode, here is is, dying alone and letting us see his heartbreak. 10 let us into the Doctor’s emotions and mind more than any other Doctor, and when he’s leaving we once again see his vulnerability and heartache. And his vulnerability in the scene coupled with the torment he went through just makes it all the more real (and painful).
@brobro9169

Nope he’s just a soy boy…they made it over dramatic for cheap drama, it didn’t even make sense for him to bitch abt it, he literally isn’t dying but they made it out as if he is. Capaldis doctor is the one that had the most depth by far, heaven sent is proof of that, I mean we get a whole damn episode about him dealing with his grief and we get a lot of insight into the doctors thought process. Towards the end of 12’s tenure he is as morally good as the doctor ever gets. 10 is just beyond overrated because of his episodes, and his fans state “he’s the best” as if it’s a fact when it isn’t.

'Uhh, maybe step through that door that's 15 feet away?' "So logically I think it makes a lot of sense. If you could choose where to die, why wouldn't you pick a clifftop at sunrise? It feels like The Doctor's Regenerations reflect their emotional state at the time of letting go? Ten's Regeneration was destructive and violent because he fought not to go, whereas Eleven was completely at peace with his death and leaned into his regeneration, so easily flashed into Capaldi. Capaldi wasn't fighting, but he delayed Regenerating to caution Thirteen, so his Regeneration was more destructive than Nine or Eleven.

I love that 13’s last words were “doctor whoever I’m about to be, tag you’re it” cause in a way that’s how she came into the role. Tennant was told “the newest doctor wants to give you a call” and when her name popped up he welcomed her as a fellow doctor. So her “tagging” Tennant back into the role is like it all coming full circle

Also... I like that 13 had the good sense to be _outside_ of her TARDIS when she regenerated. Even though several regenerations have taken place inside without issue (1-2, 5-6, 6-7, 9-10), they're a bit unpredictable and can result in the TARDIS either crashing, or trying to eject the Doctor, or both.

I feel like in each regeneration, the actors themselves share their own thoughts as well as their Doctor’s: Eccleston explains the process for the new fans, compliments his costar for a job well done, happy that the reboot was a success. Tennant seems to have just processed that this is last scene, and realizes he wasn’t ready as he thought he was. Smith swears to always remember when the Doctor was him, as if he’s thanking everyone for the unforgettable experience of being such a beloved character. Capaldi prepares to pass the torch, taking time to remind his successor what the Doctor stands for. Whittaker is a little sad to go, but is also excited to see what comes next. I don’t claim to know the thoughts of the actors, and I apologize if I got anything wrong, that’s what I feel is being said in each regeneration.
