Come with me in this vlog series as I move into my first apartment all by myself in a new state far away from home! Moving from San Diego, California to Middle Tennessee is a great adventure full of ups and downs and unexpected turns, and I am so happy to be able to share it all here for anyone else going on a similar adventure!
In this vlog, I have been living in my unfurnished apartment for several days, and the realization that I am so far from all the connections I had in California starts to sink in. After giving myself a little pity party (hey we need to acknowledge those feelings!), I go for a wonderful walk in the woods and then catch up on some Christmas shopping.

Girl get you a mattress and box spring and throw them on the floor. I slept for years like that in my early twenties. It won’t hurt them AT ALL!

Oh my gosh that walk helped SO MUCH! It's funny because I go into hermit mode when I feel that way and don't want to go anywhere, but I am always SO GLAD when I do go out and start walking in the fresh air and sunshine. Thank you so much for your encouragement! Grateful for you!

You should try to look for patio furniture as your indoor furniture a lot of the times it’s cheaper then a living room set and they have super cute pieces

I moved to TX from San Diego and work from home on CA time too. It's a tough transition.

Oh wow! I just had friends that moved to TX too from San Diego. How are you liking it so far? And yes totally agree, the whole leaving home to move to a new “home” when it doesn’t feel like “home” yet is super tough.

Once you get slightly more settled you could see if there are any charities there where you could volunteer ... perhaps linked with the church whose services you are attending ...

Hi Jess, I’m a new subscriber. Take your time making your apartment purchases. Get things that you really love and won’t regret purchasing. It will all come together for you in time. Once you get your basic furniture pieces you will probably feel more at home. Also finding a church you like will be a huge plus. Getting plugged into a group of young people your age that have the same values will be huge. I’m looking forward to more video uploads. I will be praying for you Jess.

Hello Kay, Thank you so much for this thoughtful and heartfelt comment. And thank you SO much for becoming a subscriber. I can’t tell you how much that means to me ❤️ I spent a lot of time on Pinterest before the move getting inspiration photos for what I wanted my apartment to be like, and I really think it is sound advice to take more time to choose things I really will be happy with than to quickly buy things I don’t like just to have something. I finally made decisions on the main pieces and I am very excited to show them in my upcoming videos. I am really happy with how my little place is turning out 😊❤️ and I definitely agree about finding a church and getting plugged in to a group with people in my age group and walk of life, for sure! Thank you again so much and I hope your day is wonderful!

Hello Jamie! You are so sweet! ❤️ It was so nice of my friends! I have been praying for good friends, and I have really been blessed with some amazing ones in my 30's. I also think that is because I worked hard on myself too these last couple years since the divorce (I was so broken and carrying toxic ways of thinking), so I started to gravitate more towards healthier people because I became healthier emotionally myself too. 😊 This is the year for you too Jaime! We got this! ❤️

I have been binge watching all your uploads since earlier this evening and its almost 11pm with me uk time. Totally in tune with you and i agree it will all come together in time. A pity party is ok and meeting similar people through a local church will help so much. However remember you are your own family and best friend and so you have to love being with yourself. Also mummys always know best glad you got out and about . i go into hermit mode to but getting out in nature and sitting in a coffee shop people watching is a go to for me. U r a great vlogger jess keep the faith px

Hello Paula! There is so much I want to say about this amazing comment you left me. First of all, can I just say it totally made my day to hear you think my vlogs are binge-worthy. I giggled a little girl giggle involuntarily when I read this lol. Thank you! Second, thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to see this, as it is tough being a new vlogger and hoping what your putting out there will be helpful and well…not boring! I am so glad you resonate with my story, and I look forward to seeing updates from you when I post new videos. You are a strong woman Paula, and I can only imagine what a great mom you are to your kids, because some of the most healing things in the world is a kind word of encouragement. Thank you ❤️

See if there are any estate sales in your area! I love picking up things there. Also, finding a church is a must too. Especially one that has activities for women. Great way to get plugged in and make new friends. 💕

Excited to look around and get some goodies ❤️ Also totally agree about getting plugged in to a church. That is such a great way to have community and meet people 😊I was super involved in my last church and leaving all my friends was so tough! But we keep in touch which really helps ❤️

I totally agree with you! There are a lot of great antique stores around here so I am sure I will find some goodies :) And yes! A sectional is a fabulous idea because I want to be able to put my feet up :) I ended up finding a great couch from Grandin Road that was on sale at the time. Excited to show it in next week's video! I love it! It is a chase sectional :)

I'm looking for a new couch and it's so hard. One couch I loved was 10k. I kid you not. On Wayfair they have some really cheap ones but bad reviews. I am an impulsive person but when it comes to furniture I'm really careful. Wishing us both luck. Peace 🕊️

My goodness yes the couch search is so difficult! Wayfair and Amazon was letting me down lol. I ended up finding a good quality one at Grandin Road for about $3k after shipping and taxes, so I got that one and am excited to show you! Should be in next week's video ❤️ It got excellent reviews! We shall see if it lives up to them! I hope you find a couch you love!

Why don’t you try purchasing from a furniture store, they deliver and set up the furniture for you.

Jess why did you move to Nashville away from family or friends..
@jesslookingup
@jesslookingup 5 ай бұрын
Hi Donna! Great question. San Diego was so expensive, I couldn’t afford to live on my own in a safe neighborhood. After a divorce, I needed a fresh start somewhere where I could have the quality of life I hoped for. After visiting my young adult pastor who moved to middle Tennessee, I fell in love with the area and then proceeded to save everything I could to move there too. I don’t live very close and we don’t see each other that often, so I have been trying really hard to find community and find “my people” here. This is a season of getting outside my comfort zone but it allows me to grow and do things I didn’t think I would have the courage to do. A great adventure 😊❤️
