First batch of nuclear fuel was delivered to Akkuyu NPP

Historic event took place at the Akkuyu NPP construction site - the first batch of nuclear fuel for the first NPP in Turkey arrived. It marks the entry of the Republic of Turkey into the community of countries developing nuclear generation technologies on their territory.
Fuel assemblies for the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP arrived at the fresh fuel storage facility, where they will be stored in compliance with all process requirements. After the unit is ready for loading, experts will place fuel in the reactor and perform the first criticality to check the parameters of the reactor core. The commissioning of the Akkuyu NPP will cover 10% of Turkey's electricity needs and prevent CO2 emissions in the amount of some 18 million tons per year. The plant will be equipped with the latest VVER-1200 reactors of the generation 3+, the world’s safest reactor technology.

Russia doesn't just has oil and gas but is the biggest supplier of nuclear fuel too. US hope to ban Russia trade internationally is the starting point of its decline.

Russia, a thousand-year-old nation, the oldest civilization in Europe after Greece and Italy. She participated in the Renaissance and the Age of Enlightenment. It was an industrial country from the beginning of the industrial revolution. She is the fourth in the world. Nobel Prizes in all fields with patents you've never heard of.

This is low enrichment fuel, which is good for restricting proliferation.

That's typical of PWR designs like VVER, what i like about it is high electrical output and safety measures comparable to other known designs as AP1000. Strange thing is many of us didn't know Russia is building so many reactors pretty much in time, i want my government rethink decision for AP1000 in favor of advanced VVER.

@@codaalive5076 The other issue, being, that Russia retained their capacity to make fuel. We Americans are making fuel for some VVER reactors. Just where will we get Uranium?

@@jamallabarge2665 I didn't know USA is making fuel for VVER, pellets are a bit different with small hole in the middle for protecting the fuel. Uranium is mined in countries like Australia, did you want to say USA don't have enough enrichment capability?

@@codaalive5076 A lot of uranium enrichement is done in The Netherlands, where we do not even have active mines of any sort. Urenco, an European based company, has the second largest uranium enrichment capabilities in the world, after Russia's Rosatom. The three largest western enrichment facilities, from Urenco, are located in The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Germany, with a combined enrichment capacity of 13,700 SWU/yr(separative work unit / year). The USA(4,900) has a lower enrichment capacity than France(7,500). Australia does not even have an enrichment facility for uranium. As for almost any country with uranium ore mines. *Information gathered from the World Nuclear Association.

@@HackingDutchman Well written, sources like WNA tend to be reliable. My MSM source says USA enriches 40% of world's uranium, it seems everything SMS says lately is a lie.
