First Camping Trip of the Season: Part 1

It's been far too long since I've been out camping. In my defence, the last couple of years have been busy with getting the house ready and moving two times! But this year I plan to get out and enjoy the van and seeing more of this beautiful island. I do wish I had friends on the island with vans that I could go with but oh well 🤷🏻♀️. This trip was just a short over night trip to get back into the swing of things. I also wanted to make sure everything was working properly before heading out for longer trips.
I've been asked for an updated van tour but there's not really that much that has changed since my original one. I've added a fridge and hooked up the Maxxair Fan to my power bank but otherwise it's just cosmetics.

I absolutely love how airy and light our van feels. As opposed to the nice but heavier looking cabinets that most van builds end up having. You have given me some new ideas. Thank you! And yes camping is for relaxing and recharging with a good book;-) - even when I go for a hike I bring a book. 📖❣

Looks like a fun time. When I considered a van (still do) my solution for a 2nd/3d sleeping space would be two hooks and a hammock. One of those lightweight ones from Decathlon or wherever. I own a few and bring one everywhere and nap in it. I also camped in it a few times. It will fill the entire van (diagonal) when someone is in it, but it can be a very easy option and not disturb the set up you have now. And…you will have a hammock for hanging between trees and sunshine/shade naps when you are by yourself 😉

Nice job 👍. I have an acacia wood bench on my patio from wayfair that I lay out in the patio . It has arms but I cut one off and took a piece of the arm and screwed it in lower on the seat to make up for support from the missing arm . Then I got a little square patio end table ( same model ) I put on the end with the missing arm , to stretch out when I want to . If you do this you can use the end table somewhere else when not stretching out .

I think mama told her to stay put while she went to eat and the little one either got bored or spooked and ended up on the road. I didn't want to touch her and get human sent on her AND I didn't want to spook her into running further away from where mama left her. She was so cute 🥰

However as parents sometimes not getting involved on a personal level and respectfully not crossing boundaries with these beautiful creatures, Is best for all involved. Thank you for (subtly) reminding us not to interact with baby deer... the mama is off feeding herself & will come back to area she left the fawn. But if humans interact, often mamas smell human scent & then reject baby.
