I have been wanting to paddle in the snow for quite some time but until now, have never gotten the chance. The trip was planned as only a one nighter due to squalls that were heading into the area, but it didn't make it any less awesome. I experienced many things that I never have before and am thrilled I was able to capture some of them in this video. It was a great way to end my 2018 canoeing season and I am so happy I rerouted the trip several times to make it possible. I hope you enjoy the video!
Note: I took many precautions to ensure my safety, paddling at this time of year and a post about it can be found on my Camper Christina Facebook page. camperchrist... . Please always ensure you are safe when you are out at this time of year. I take these risks seriously and chose to do so of my own free will. I am aware of the consequences and have no issues with whatever may happen to me while I am out doing what I love to do, however, I do not encourage anyone to do as I do, but what is right for you.

Hi Christina. I find the more people call me crazy the more fun it means I had. 😊 A woman vet I knew once told me that women usually don't really get to live until they're 50. Make the most of every moment. I know I'm trying. 😊😊😊

HIKING CANADA please be very careful. I don’t want anything happening to anyone out there because of me. I know the risks and accept them. The water temperatures are much colder now than when I was out. Make sure you have lots of backup plans in place and several ways to get warm in case something happens. Please Lmk when you’re back safely . 😊 I’ll be looking for your comment.

@@CamperChristina Hi Christina -- thanks for all that info. My plan is to paddle no further than about a paddle length from shore - as I travel along the lake that I'm heading to. I'll have an emergency change of clothes with very easy fire making supplies ready to go. If it was in the budget I'd buy myself a dry suit - but in lieu of that - I'll take lots of precautions - just as you suggested. I'll post a video on Sunday or Monday of my trip. thanks. :)
@CamperChristina

HIKING CANADA sounds good. I took a lot of heat for this trip even though I’m not even close to being the only one doing this. I was also extremely cautious and prepared but for some that’s not enough. I don’t know your paddling experience so I just want to make sure that you understand what’s involved and it sounds like you do. My biggest fear is that someone inexperienced or unqualified heads out to do what I did and has a fatality. I’m never worried about myself always others. Play safe and have fun. 😊

Hi Christina: That trail for a walk out also has an emergency shed designed for snow shoers & cross country skiers. I realize paddle to 114 site is a bit farther & you loose the walk out-ability but I believe it is worth the effort Full of envy for your adventure. Thanks for bringing me along Brian 78

Way to go Christina! Haliburton is a beautiful area, know it well. There are a few easy access lakes that are good for a quick camp trip. Loom lake has a beautiful island camp site and a few nice main land sites, plus has good walleye fishing. It is in a big block of crown land. Another is Lochlin lake which is busy in summer but have camped there in Oct and in Nov and had the lake to myself. Again a beautiful island. Both are small lakes with super easy access great for a quick camping trip. Pretty sure they will have some ice forming now , although its suppose to warm up by weekend. Enjoyed the show, thanks for sharing and all the best.👍👍

Awesome video! Love that your not afraid to go out and do these trips on your own. Only thing is safety wise, being in the bush during hunting season. There are hurting camps in the Haliburton water trails area.

Marg Scheffee hi Marg. Thanks so much for watching my video and taking the time to comment. I’m glad you enjoy my work. I had a fluorescent orange hunting camp with me however didn’t see any people in the time I was there. The campsite was literally five minutes from where I parked my vehicle. I did hear gunshots in the distance. I am always cognizant of hunters at this time of year. I didn’t mention it but living in Muskoka it’s just a given. I probably should mention it though. Thanks for the reminder. 😊😊😊

Awesome video Christina ! It doesn`t matter how far or where you go, you were out doing it. And it looks likes you had a pretty good time. Weather not too bad, got your camp in the snow/cold, and that chicken stew looked liked just what the doctor ordered. It was a great canoe season , watching you paddling around like a duck. I enjoyed everyone of your videos, and I`m looking forward to seeing you out in your spiffy hot tent as well. Thank You for sharing your video, and bringing us out on a beautiful excursion. ATB

terriplummer123 hey Terri. I’m so glad you loved the trip and video. I actually have a video called my new rack and a post on my blog which shows some more information about it. There is another piece of the system that has the V-shaped cradle which I use for my kayaks. When I load the canoe I just use the bars but the links to which model it is etc is in that post.
