The weather man is calling for a hot dry stretch of weather, so that means it's time to cut hay! Alan and his brother, Paul, cut three fields on the farm. The alfalfa and clover was not bloomed out, so the quality should be good. The 820 John Deere is our go to hay cutting tractor on the farm, and it works well with our 489 New Holland Haybine. Lastly, Alan got some really special viewer mail again. The generosity of our viewers is truly inspiring!

There's nobody in america that I respect more than the volunteers who go in harm's way and fight our nation's military battles, and the farmers that work as hard as they do to feed our country. It's nice to see Trinity Dairy receive a gift of appreciation for the often challenging and unrecognized occupation you perform. Thank you for what you do.

I enjoy watching your videos. I like watching you do your farming still using older machines and keeping them working. Farmers now days seem to have to buy new machines costing thousands of dollars or more. Everything computer operated instead of letting a farmer being able to fix it. Of course costing thousands dollars for parts.

We always try to wait until the alfalfa and clovers bloomed out. Apparently they say after the first blooms are out it produces bit more "protein" don't know if it's actually true or not, cuz when cattle out on pastures in the spring/ mid to late spring clovers and alfalfa ain't always blooming but cattle still seems to be content. But I guess it's depends on how much of forages the animals on pasture gets everyday. But inerways that's my opinion i guess. P,s cute looking kid😍.

To those surprised the 820 could handle the 489........... That sickle bar haybine does not require a high horsepower tractor. However, a discbine would. Day and night difference...........horsepower needed for sickle bar haybine vs discbine

Nice looking hay crop. Protein makes milk. The 820 may look small for a haybine but the hay isn't real thick and heavy stuff yet. And it's a testament to the efficiency of the cutting attachment. Why burn more diesel than you have to, right?
@trinitydairy

Looked like yellow rocket. Where I grew up all of the farmers controlled it by picking it by hand and putting it in gunny sacks and burning it. I haven't seen that done in 40 plus years though.
@dalenoack3929
@dalenoack3929 3 жыл бұрын
@@derrickzenner9300 We use to pull it also. Usually after a rain as it was easier to pull and get the root of the plant especially in the hay fields. It didn't help that the neighbors fields were solid yellow and didn't believe in spraying it.

Just a question isn’t that tractor too small for a haybine because we have a 215 hp tractor on our disc bine mower
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 3 жыл бұрын
Nope, it handles that haybine very well, been running it since 1988, but a disc bine, takes a lot more power to run, than a haybine, that tractor wouldn't have enough power to run even a small disc bine.

@@trinitydairy Man, I appreciate your quick response and feedback. I wondered if a 40-50hp tractor would be sufficient enough, so i appreciate ya! To be honest, we've rented our land out to a big time farmer in the area.
