Deffintly get a Fass lift pump that would really help with the start, especially new lines also put a sump on the tank too. And when you pull the bed off I would drop the tank and clean it out you would be surprised with all the junk that is in the bottom of the tank. The fass is also a really good filter set up too makes changing a filter a 1000 times easier

Just be careful. Higher idle = strain to the transmission when shifting into drive or reverse due to harsh shift. May also create premature transmission mount failure. Also can create unsafe idle speeds. 1000 in my opinion is a bit high but as long as you bring it back down to about 800-850 after the winter months, it should be fine. Not nagging, just a helpful tip. Obviously your truck your decision. :) NOTE: highly agree with JR Townsley about going through the fuel system. It's exciting to see an up and coming youtube channel grow! Got here at 10k viewers. Very much enjoy the content! Keep up the good work!

I'd say to re do the same 2 tone paint job but with a lot prettier paint colors put a flat bed on it color match everything and get a sport front end

You found the answer to your hard start issue on your driveway for sure. Probably can adjust it back down a little once you replace the fuel lines. Better replace passenger side front fender also. Walk through few car dealerships and find a paint color you like and get the paint code.

Put 33" tires on it flat bed and western bumper with a winch and stove pipes and some nice mag wheels and would leave it the same color and put led lights all around it and edge programmer with a bigger turbo and super charger it

Wow those lines are really crusty! Haha I'd get those lines and the fuel filter replaced ASAP so you don't introduce rust into the fuel system and wreck your pump. Good work so far bud.

you should go ahead and put a air dog or fass lift pump on it since the fuel lines are shot.

The factory setting for a 12v is 1000-1100 roughly when idling in park/neutral and about 800-900 roughly in drive and the A/C on.... if I remember correctly.

Not knowing how long the truck has set periodically, I'd probably go through the whole fuel system including dropping the tank and cleaning it out. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bunch of junk in the bottom of the tank. Wait to do it until you pull the bed off. It will make your life much easier.

idle is a bit high. 750rpm is more like it. I know it's tempting, but adjusting idle speed to help with starting is kind of masking the underlying problem. Have you done compression tests on any of the trucks? it would not be hard, it would give you a chance to see under the valve covers, check the condition of the engine and could be a cool video.

I think you should take all the parts off your truck and put them on that truck. Even tho the body is rough you would have a engine that has less miles on it.

Matt Jones WD-40 is not a penetrating oil. It is more of cleaner type of product. You can use it to clean electrical components. PB blaster however is a penetrating agent. It is also a lubricant, unlike WD.

Matt Jones If you worked on something instead of playing games (from the looks of your channel) you'd know that pb Blaster is Day and night difference from wd40. Jacob is correct 100%, I turn wrenches all day and Pb blaster over wd40. Work on some rusty shit, use wd40 and use pb blaster and you wont know what wd40 is😂😂

I'm not a Cummins guy, I run PowerStroke, but I think your idle should be down more towards 700-800. Like I said, I'm not sure what the Cummins guys are setting their idle at but 1000 seems high.

if it is above 60 degrees you dont have to wait to start the grid heater does not even cut on above 60 that is just the to get the user used to using the grid heater

Putting your idle at a higher rpm can slowly damage your transmission going from park to in gear.

The reason it starts hard when it sits and gets cold is because of the leaks in the fuel lines it will always get air in the lines and it takes longer fuel leak is 100% the issue

Sounds like it's loosing prime as it sits! I'd start with injectors cause I'd bet one or two or six of them are leaking. Just seeing the smoke and color of it and also hearing how it started. Just my .02 cents though. But if I said I haven't had my fair share of rough starting pickups I'd be lying!! The smoke out that exhaust will tell you almost everything that's going on in that motor man. Color, smells, and how long it smokes for when first lighting off any diesel pickup will tell you everything! learn to read the exhaust man that'll be one of the best tricks of the trade you ever learn to help yourself out! Diesels do not I repeat do not just dump black smoke out, but just like the black smoke means something all the other colors coming out mean something also!

Jeez that idle was so low. Do they come like that or did the previous owner turn if down for some reason? (Not sure why you would want such a low idle) My dads 94 cummins is no where near as bad.

The idle adjustment can vibrate itself loose over time and cause the low idle. Very common thing on these trucks.

j.mentzy 24 haha maybe if you're an average Joe working minimum wage 9-5 jobs.... I have a very business geared mindset. I'm extremely entrepreneurial. Trust me, I can make as much money as I want without some degree... a degree is only good if you wanna look like you just want to get hired to work under someone else. But I will always be my own business owner/ self employed. So a degree would do me no good. If you look at some of the wealthiest people on the face of the earth, what do almost all of them have in common? Either high school drop outs, college drop outs, or no degree at all.... I'm not saying dropping out or not going to school is what makes you wealthy... but it just shows that it's your own self motivation and determination that'll take you as far as you're willing to go.... not a piece of paper saying you're a little smarter than the next guy or you spent more to get that degree.... Just think about the big picture...

theres also plenty of that same group (wealthiest people on the face of the earth) that went to college. just because you want a degree doesn't mean youll work for someone or under someone. ill be heading to law school next year and i have no intention of ever working for or under someone. i plan on opening my own practice and grinding and working my ass off until i have a nice practice. i know you didnt mean to make it seem like thats what you were saying, im just saying that just because you get a degree, doesnt mean you will be working for or under someone
