Jared, Aaron, Miles, and Colin run the First Defense Gas Pedal Drill up at Defender Ranch. Super fun drill that involves a lot of fundamentals and time pressure.
Gas Pedal Drill
⬇️DRILL LAYOUT BELOW⬇️
I (Mark from / firstdefense_usa ) designed this drill to focus on the shooter’s ability to determine limitations and capabilities at various distances to truly understand Throttle control based off target size & distance.
TARGET: Top half A zone (6”x6” square) or equivalent size target.
DISTANCE: 5yd,10yd,15yd
LOADOUT: 10 rounds in the gun and 1 full spare mag.
DRILL: Starting at 5 yards draw fire 5 rounds, move to the 15 yard line and fire 5 rounds, slide lock reload while moving to the 10 yard line and fire 5 rounds from the 10 yard line.
TIME: Passing 15.00 sec, Advanced 13.00sec, Expert 12.00.
Must be 100% clean to pass.
EXPECTATIONS
1. You choose the safest direction for your muzzle when running up range based off your environment.
2. No cheating the garment.
3. All shots are to be while static

Drill videos are great. We can move and shoot at our range but I doubt we can move that fast.

A great drill! 5 yards = sprint 15 yards= jog 10 yards = run Anybody who shoots knows keeping them in a 6 inch square at 15 yards under time pressure is a lot tougher than it looks!

As simple as it is, I really like this drill because it uses a lot of technique, movement and accountability in a 'realistic' area of a fight exchange..

Another good one guys!!! You are my favourite channel you are not afraid to test your products and skills as most of us carry concealed and that's awesome 💯 I see instructors at the range shooting fast drills from open big IPSC or military holsters and when you ask them how is that going to go for Joe Blow who carries concealed all the time they get angry 😂

Another good standard to try, is defender USA B8 standard. You can do the static version or the moving version. It's a tough one for sure! Like to see you guys try it!

Another great drill and video. My one issue was the thing you touched on last. I understand the 180 concept and range safety. However, you gents are capable of safe gun handling in a lane whether running fwd or back. In real life during a gunfight if I saw a guy doing that I( we ) would all laugh. I think demo’n hard things done correctly is better than not. Always with the caveat of “not for everyone” or “train up to this level”. Still great video just my 2 cents respectively gents. 🇺🇸👍🏻

Thanks! Exactly, situation will always dictate how you handle your firearm. Train accordingly. In this situation, for this drill, we all chose what we preferred to keep the muzzle in a safe direction. But that can easily change drill to drill.

Don’t train like this. It’s stupid. Guys every day stack on doors and point rifles at their backs. You’re never going to do this goofy point behind me shit so don’t train that way. If your life is governed by KZfaq guidelines and Facebook fact checkers then sell your guns asap

@TYMGhosT I'm guessing you've never kicked a door in your life right? I've done multiple deployments and kicked more doors than i can remember, none of my guys were pointing thier weapons at my back when we went in. There's a better way to run here but they're on a flat range and need to think and practice safety. You could just tell us you have no experience and like to talk trash, it would be faster.

Having to keep your muzzle pointed down range while maneuvering 360 degrees is a common practice in all the practical competitive shooting matches I’ve been in. It has nothing to do with Facebook or KZfaq. 😊
