Unboxing and using an R-Tech FP160 DC TIG for the first time ever. My first 3 TIG 'welds'!
Sick sick tool! So much to learn but really excited to find out exactly what this thing can do. Should be able to add brass and copper to my work now. Awesome !
Let the learning begin!

Hi John, glad to see you get straight on the new machine and give it a whirl!👍 Immediate signs that you are going to get on OK in our view, but for some more pointers you can also find some articles on our website that may have some little nuggets of info....I'll make sure Joe knows he got a shout!!😁

Good video, I'm looking to get a rtech tig welder too. BTW, if you're interested in welding classes I'd really recommend the evening class they do at Crawley College 👍

Hi John I'm in the same boat as you as regard tig Never done it I bought the one up from yours 160 digital couldn't get a gas bottle for the first month supply issues in London I think had it 5 months now should be ashamed myself really have even got round to putting a plug on it yet but had a lot going on I will the next few days Hope to see some more of your learning to tig weld and I will Follow you along the way always love watching your videos in fact you're the one that inspired me to start scrap metal art

@@JohnNorrisMetalSculpture Hi John thanks for the info I have studied the TIG welding tutorial on the mig welding forum managed to find a few charts to print with settings and watched quite a few of John's on doubleboost I have a mig welder for last three years from r-tech has performed perfectly I've just near enough finishing the new shed the other one miles to small no ventilation near me except for the door which is not really near me at the moment cleaning lots of bike chains and bits then setting up a permanent place for a degreaser under cover I also got my new air Fed mask today from r-tech so no excuses now keep up the good work John have a nice Christmas and New Year

Fantastic progress - just think what a few tweaks on the controls and a bit more practice will accomplish! I'm sure this will be a great help in projects where you don't actually need filler material, just a good neat join; after all, your sculptures are not exactly structural...

Hi John, appreciate the pegasus and spitfire videos, what welder did you use with those projects Do you prefer this one? Do you sell your labour of loves? Cheers keep up the work

Hi Reef. Used a gas MIG for both of those. Can't really give you an answer as to what I prefer, the TIG is new to me, still got to get my head around everything that's it's capable of doing and perfect some basic techniques! I know the MIG better but i'm a long way from a decent welder. For me a lot of the 'look' is in the finishing, especially whe trying to blend two random pieces together. It's a pretty blunt tool but the ability to easily lay down material is incerdibly useful. Not had much time to be in the Workshop recently but plan on going big with the next creation so as and when I upload you'll probably see a fair amount of experimenting with the TIG. Ultimately it's going to allow lot more finesse .. just gotta learn to use it!!
