Great night out shooting foxes with the new Thermion 2 XP50 thermal scope made by Pulsar. I haven't been out on these local lucerne flats for a little while, as usual the foxes were about on the prowl. Few other foxes sighted in the surrounding paddocks I don't have access to be on. So another trip will be on the cards soon now I've cleared some existing fox territory.
I've seen some animal footage of this new Thermion 2 XP50 but not anything in the hunting space I don't believe. This might be some of the first kill footage on KZfaq so far.
I will be doing a proper review in time on the Thermion 2 XP50. Just be patient please as I'd like to play with it more to evaluate across varied conditions and animals. The new 25mK sensor and 50mm F1.0 lens do seem to do a stellar task. Conditions last night were around 10°C with high humidity. A thick fog rolled in on my way out the front gate. Certainly an amicable test for the new sensor.

I have run out of your videos to watch. I have tried a few other people (Aus, US and some other non English speaking country) and I have yet to be able to watch a full video of theirs. Congratulations on your video quality, and your own ethics make yours the only hinting channel I have subscribed to. Keep up the good work.

Yeah it's pretty good. 2x base mag is interesting. Can't decide if I like that or not. There's situations that I'd love 6x base mag all the time with that type of image (not possible without a 100+ mm lens and tech we don't even have available) . And others where 2x is great.

Awesome, I could have waited for a thermion 2 but needed it there and then and when you check the specs there is only one small change between the two. My mate who has a 3 year old trail XP50 wants to upgrade now since he used my one. Technology will just keep getting better and better. Another awesome video as usual keep up the good work. I have posted a couple of clips of mine in action in red monocrome of rabbits across the ditch but not up to the same standard of videos you make.

Good start mate and I am sure you will make good use of that combination. One thing I did notice through the video is that the audio recorded in the thermal seemed pretty good and better than previous thermals you have used. Maybe it was just me paying more attention. Look forward to your long term review in time.

Maybe it is. I haven't actually checked that. I'll have too as it's important to us. On both Thermion's I drop the audio to 50% now. Find it too harsh at full volume (getting fussy).

Great video. I like the way you explain everything as you go. When you do your review, and since you have both the XQ50 and XP50, could you tell me if the image of the new XP50 at 4X is as good or better as the XQ50 at 3.5X. I like the image of the XP50 but since it is only 2X I now shoot an XQ50? I would like to upgrade if the image is good enough at 4X. Any possibility you could do a short video to compare the two side by side at the same magnification? Thanks.

Love your work as every greenie should. Anitchinus have double lobed ears, pretty sure the scope can’t pick that up however.

Hi again, how have you found the image boost function on your XP? I've just got the Thermion2 XQ50 and was initially greatly impressed with the daylight performance in full sunshine! ( With NO image boost). I later tried image boost and noticed a "shimmer" effect on the image but at the time didn't tie the two together. Went out foxing last night, albeit damp but nothing serious enough to bother my old helion -the image on the Thermion2 whilst bright was distorted, particularly when zooming in( something that didn't occur before image boost). Got back home deflated with it's Performance and reset to factory defaults which immediately improved the image. Just realised this morning that image boost was now off! Turned it back on and the Shimmer/distortion returned....So, after this long essay I wondered if you'd noticed the same or whether mine has a problem? Cheers Mike

Just wondering what your zero and trajectory is like on the 6BR. Is it flat enough shooting that you can hold dead on for most shots out to what range?
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK 3 жыл бұрын
I run a 200m zero. Trajectory wise the 6BR is similar to the 223Rem with 55's. It's +/- 1.5" to 230 meters (hold dead on a rabbit or fox). 8" drop at 300m but it's rare to shoot over 200m at night I find.

Hi Shane. The NV007 works well for what it is. They have more clarity with an external IR but that depends on how far you wish to shoot. NV can flare out a little with all the long grass around ATM. It's a great tool for shooting so long as you go into it aware of the capabilities.
