My wife wanted some more pollinators in our garden, looks like that hydrangea in your front yard attracts a lot of them.

Such artistry in the way you have combined plants. Such a lovely, soothing garden. The beautiful pastel shades of the roses blend in so beautifully with rest of your plants.

Gorgeous gardens, Tracy! I have 2 Tiny Tuff Stuff hydrangeas, one in a pot and one in the ground. Both are blooming beautifully, although the one in the pot set out its blooms first-which I thought interesting. It also went through the winter in the container so I think I’ll keep it in there for the next season as well. 🪴🌸

Thank you Mary! Me too! I’m very surprised that they have more blooms on old wood than my Macrophyllas that are in ground.

The combination of your plants complement each other so well. They are looking beautifully ❤. I found 3 Japanese Beatles in my garden! They come back earlier than last year 😢

Seeing them this early makes me nervous 😬. I’m thinking of Deadheading my roses soon to avoid as many beetles as possible.

We had so much rain and the roses didn’t survive. Now that we get more sun and roses will be able to do well but the Japanese beetles will be here to eat them. Hope you don’t have this Japanese beetles issue. 💚💚💚

So so beautiful. I love your garden. My new phantom hydrangea standard that we planted just over a month ago, now is full of blooms. One has started to open and reveal its beautiful creamy colour. I wasn't expecting much from it this first season planting, but I counted 21 flower heads so far.

Beautiful garden. Hey Tracy do you know why hydrangea leaves are rusting?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Little black spots? It is a fungal disease. You should pick those leaves off and discard them so they don’t fall to the ground and reinfect the plant. It probably got spread by too much rain overhead or wind or overhead watering. If things don’t improve, you can use fungicide Safer’s soap. Hope that helps.

I love your garden! If I put a quick fire in pot, do I need to keep it in the garage in winter time?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙏 What garden zone are you in? If you garden in zone 5 or higher, the Quick Fire will be okay in the pot. To ensure its best survival, I would just make sure the pot is at least 16” or larger so there’s is a larger soil reservoir to help protect the roots. 💚

Earwigs? This is good to know. I was thinking crickets may be responsible for eating them. I also have something chomping on panicle hydrangea foliage too. Could it be earwigs too?

The Iris behind the astilbe , would it do well since it looks like it's not getting much sun there? Just curious, coz I'm wondering how much plants I can plant as I don't have a big garden lol
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
It hasn’t bloom for me so I would say it doesn’t get enough sun. I think we definitely have the same problem about needing more garden space. 😂 I’m planning to get more containers but I don’t have enough space for them.

I have many snails. They actually like to feed on the hydrangea foliage. 😞
@DOLsenior
@DOLsenior Жыл бұрын
@@TracysHomeGarden I had a snail problem in one of my gardens. It was horrible and lasted for many years. I am careful not to transplant or gift anything from that area. I removed all the plants they liked eating and stopped planting annuals in that garden. I haven't seen any snails for a while. 🤞 I hope the problem is solved. Good luck eradicating them. They are tenacious.

I recently added Tuff Stuff A-ha and was hoping it could take a little more sun than our Bloomstruck big leaf hydrangeas but sadly even hidden under a japanese maple the Tuff Stuff is struggling and leaves scorching. Shame as the flowers are exceptional. I wonder why PV advertises mountain hydrangeas as Full sun or Part Sun. In 7a they can't handle much direct sun at all.
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
Is it recently planted? It may get better with time. I would say give 1-2 seasons to get well rooted in…then it will be able to take more sun.

I was having a problem with the beetles in one of my gardens and was told to grow some form of onion, i choose chives for its flower head. put them in last year and so far this year no beetles? hope it continues. I never get the blooms on my hydrangea's no matter new wood or old. yours look wonderful. what type of fertilizer do you use?
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden Жыл бұрын
I just use compost on my hydrangeas. I have never fed them before. They do best in less fertilizer. Smooth and Panicle hydrangeas bloom on new wood so you should not have any problem with them. Now I’m curious as to why? 😳

@@TracysHomeGarden The original ones are a few years old but have not bloomed since I planted them, they get lots of sun and water, and Not much Miracle grow time release. The new ones last fall, same thing, but I am hoping its just too early here in 5b Central Ontario, I has been a up and down season so far even frost was very late. if that helps any?
