I completely agree with you about Stereo vs Surround. Bruce Swedien, who was Michael Jackson’s sound engineer and trained by Bill Putnam (know as the ‘Godfather of Modern Recording’), also believed this passionately. When it comes to music, stereo is king. Even for cinema, directors such as Christopher Nolan stick with 5.1 DTS, as he believes the more channels you have, the more distracted it sounds, and less immersive. It’s not as simple as more speakers, better experience. Much like music, the mastering plays a big role as well. By the way, I just received Selling England by the Pound, Dr John and John Prine, but with my family at the moment and haven’t had the chance to play them yet, but all 3 are in perfect looking condition, and I can’t wait to get home and spin them! The Lamb sounds great during the music, but I do feel like mine has a fair amount of surface noise in the quiet moments. Bad Co and Hello I Must Be Going sound perfect though.

45 rpm is the game changer for superior sound . With the added bonus of getting us all moving out of our chair more.. movement is the key for good health.

Excellent news about the Lamb album, its been a long hunt for me trying to find the best sounding copy. Ended up with the OG German, if this Lamb is as you say as good as SEBTP that's exciting news because Selling England is outstanding, so detailed its a joy to listen to.

Chad used the Classic Records plates for 6 of the 8 sides on the Lamb album.... there were issues with 2 sides that had to be redone.

How good is stereo, just listen to the door open and you hear his footsteps cross the soundstage on Yes Fragile...so much for 5.1

For budget conscious folks, Atlantic pressed a 75th Anniversary Selling England By The Pound in 33 rpm on clear vinyl. I wonder if they'll do a clear vinyl Lamb double disc on 33 rpm

Hmmmm......just got my AP 75 Bad Company and have to admit to being mildly disappointed. Unlike Genesis Selling England it just lacks something. I wasn't really surprised to learn when I looked into it that a "flat copy" of the original master tape was used - so this is produced from a second generation tape and it shows. I'll be watching out for this in future releases in the series.

I really wish they would do 33RPM, I have actually stopped buying 45 RPM

I understand your enthusiasm for the quality. But unfortunately, they are also a game changer price wise. 88 EUR for the double disc and 165 EUR for the 4-discs versions -including shipping they end up with 100 or 200 EUR per release - they are clearly only for the wealthy ones. I am asking myself if they have not "overdone" it with the quality. The jackets alone are so sturdy and thick that they will survive mankind. I am not sure if this is really necessary. The space they take in the shelf is four times to the originals. So investing in them is not only a big hole in your purse for the time being, but also in future for additional shelfs you have to buy. But hey, obviously they find their customers, so they have done it right. I have one of them, but I will rethink any further purchase several times before I ruin myself.

I think The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway sounds great. Unfortunately , the original Production is only at best average so 🤷 only so much can be done.

Iron Maiden and Metallica sound best on the vinyl. Just take original albums: The Number of the Beast and Black Album, and yiou will hear it easily. They both sound amazing on the vinyl.👍

I would say Genesis Duke is a must for 45 RPM release. It is one of my favorites albums of all time. The album is probably one that has the longest duration per side and everything suits for 45 RPM. The original order of the songs will fit excellent in 2 x 45 RPM set. Sound is also not the best on the original release. I have US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Italy, Nick Davis remaster.....maybe I stay with the italian edition but still not the best sound at all. Please ask Chad for this album to be included on the 75 releases.

Are people seriously listening to that Phil Collins album though? I mean i can't get through the first side of it before i realise there are thousands of better albums i'd rather be spending my precious time listening to than this, no matter how good it might sound.

Love Bad Company but I'm not a big fan of Genesis or Phil Collins . Genesis is too mainstream. The fm rock stations in Canada played Genesis too much back in the 80s and 90s and I've sort of become bored with them for that reason. I like some of Genesis albums and my friends love them .

There is no doubting the quality but would most people in a comparison hear the difference ??? Well over priced it’s not about the music lover it’s about the commercial profits and the so called audiophiles who like sheep just follow without thinking. I have 1000s of vinyl and spend far too much on so called audiophile pressings but not any more as the originals or in some cases the repress on my humble setup sound as good if not better
