This is my first day in Nepal and I thought I'd challenge myself to try and survive 24 hours in one of the cheapest countries in the world. The day was full of surprises and it quickly became one of my favourites countries after today.

Bro this is the simple life something we take for granted in Australia. So little yet still so happy with what they have. Cherish life on different levels no matter where you are or where not or what you have or have not. Cheers bro thanks for sharing your travels. Keep up the good work.

you should do another video like this but the opposite...how far does $100 go in a day for example? like another youtuber Harld who shops and then just ends up giving the stuff to a local who would use and appreciate it.

Excellent video‼️💯 We know the sky's the limit when it comes to spending money. But you have shown us how the most basic life can be achieved. All of us should do it every now and then as it's a humbling experience. We shouldn't always enjoy the best during our travels, it spoils our mind and soul 💖

hi David you're finally exploring my favorite place on Earth! :) haha.. it should be cold morning and night in this period, but climate change... anyway, you've gotten to many local for those cheap and highly affordable drinks and food. Yep, they cost more usually, anyhow, the kids, and actually everyone in Nepal has this very humble smiles and best demeanor, everyone is just trying to survive and they loves to chat when you speaks Nepali :P Okay, there is many things to explore but in Kathmandu mainly you need to spend! haha, at least more for food, but also very reasonable and affordable. Do check out all the little alleys and hidden treasures- many temples are usually free, except for some heritage sites; durbar square is overpriced! ok, some places to explore: Thamel (for sure, but mostly shopping and food, and no to USD1) haha, Asan market, Rani Pokhari, Chettrapati area, the rest like Gardens requires entrance fee. Boudhnath Stupa, you need to get there by taxi (may be try InDrive or Pathao with a valid phone) as that place is very holy and has lots of Tibetan influence. You may find inner peace there! Entrance is 450 NPR though, worth it, unless someone show you... shh... Within these areas, Asan Market or towards Durbar Square, many temples can be visited, e.g. Indrachowk, also try the yogurt. About 50. Pokhara will be a lake town but bus ride is... haha, interesting. Tourist bus available but less interesting :P Any trekking depends where you're heading. Am looking forward to watch your trek. The village life and mountains and forests are mesmerising! However, a lof of trekking destinations are touristy... remember that you will need trekking permit and conservation fee. Also ensure that you have your gears or rent them. For higher mountains, proper trekwear. I would say Trekking is the main attractions in Nepal, the village people (but they are now used to tourists) are all very hospitable and nice and friendly. Other upcoming places where locals would go may be the Chandragiri hill, and Nagarkot is very nice and breathtaking too (some journey from Kathmandu, but a short one). Do stay at the latter choice for good sunrise and exploration. The Shivapuri national park is very good place to train hikes and have some sweat. Everest is pretty far, good luck with your rides. As I think you love nostalgia, trekking through villages and living in rustic guesthouses (still affordable) are the way to experience Nature and the mountains. Interacting with the different caste and Nepalese (including Sherpas or Tamangs, more towards their Tibetan lineage) will be interesting. Of course, the Gurungs, Newaris, Brahmans (in the city) and other Nepalese are all very interesting people! Share more of your discoveries. Spend more! Haha... depending on your budget, Nepal caters for various needs between the spectrum of frugal, affordability and luxury! :P

Just want to share my thoughts here... No offense, ya? I don't think it is a good idea to do a challenge on spending just a dollar in Nepal. I mean, it is a poor and impoverished country to a certain extent. As tourist or for that matter as a KZfaqr, part of travelling to such countries is to promote the place and contribute to its economy. To sell the idea that Nepal is so cheap is to encourage other tourists especially backpackers to do the same. How will Nepal ever benefit from such travelers then? Aren't these people just living like a poor local then? Isn't that mainly why Bhutan chose not to have such travelers in their country? I mean back home, you would have to fork out at least AUD15 for even a simple meal which is already ridiculous by most SE Asian or South Asian standards. So why not show what that same amount can get you in Nepal instead? Wouldn't that be a better content? Let's save the cheap challenges to the more expensive countries bcos that would have been more appropriate. For example, how to survive in Sydney for AUD20/day. Let's bless these impoverished countries economically instead. It really won't hurt anyone's pocket to make a difference to their lives with amounts we all consider as spare change in our own countries. Peace....

While I think what you are saying is very relevant to many tourist and backpackers who squabble over a few dollars when bargaining etc. the very reason most people travel to places like India and Nepal and Asia is because of how affordable it is. So In a way David is actually promoting this aspect of Nepal meaning people will see how affordable it is and more likely to come. Just sharing my perspective from the tourist side

Yep I agree. Nice video but if you can afford it, you should be very generous with your cash in Nepal. Especially to help their economy recover faster after the terrible quake.
